Hey Guys, im new at this, and i am kinda confused and hoping somebody can help me out. I just need a bit of clarity. i have a blog site installed with wp, and it is installed to www.abcd.com/blog. I want my first page www.abcd.com to be a welcome page that links to the blog. For example, it needs to be the same theme and everything, but it mustn't be a blog site, it needs to be a intro to my site with a optin box and it needs to show recent posts from my blog etc.. Like a welcome page.. How do i go about doing this? Any advise would be appreciated

    Hey,

    Welcome to the Warrior Forum.

Go to your WP-admin, at yourdomain.com/wp-admin

    Click Settings > Reading

Change the box from "Your Latest Posts" to "Static Page"

The Static Page would be a page that you have the opt in box on and everything else you want on the homepage.

That still wouldn't show up at example.com (instead of example.com/blog) - as the OP asked.

It can be done but it would involve a little bit more work than clicking buttons here and there.

Caleb's method would work if you have your blog in the root - why not simply move it there?

    As for this:
it needs to be the same theme and everything, but it mustn't be a blog site, it needs to be a intro to my site with a optin box and it needs to show recent posts from my blog etc
    1. moving should solve the 'same theme' issue
    2. if using a static page as front - you can put there anything, including optin form
    3. for recent posts you may need to have a custom Page template that combines static and dynamic content
