How would you use social networking to grow this?

I have been in the game for a couple of years but have never really gotten into the whole social networking thing - yeah I know, I've been missing out.

My first ever forum - footballforums.co.uk is very close to being finished and the new football (soccer) season is just about to start here in the UK.

Exactly how would you go about using social to drive traffic to the site? Any tips are very much appreciated as I really want to make the website BIG!

    First of all, it is a really wise decision to start social networking. It is the biggest opportunity for us - marketers, to get real prospects. However, it is not so easy, and it takes time.

    The first thing you should do right now is set up new twitter account.

    Then use the twitter search to find people who are talking about your subject. Follow them.

    Next, set up 10 - 20 tweets per day about the topic. However, do not give people link to your website yet. You need to build some authority there.
    So, send people to other websites, which gives valuable information about your topic. This way they will notice you and will start to follow you.

    Later, after 15-20 days and something like 200 - 300 tweets, you can tweet a few times about your site per day. This is how it works.
