Really Discouraged Right Now (any help?)

Hey guys, I used to hate reading posts like this.

But I need some help, some advise, heck, just a friendly pat on the back or something.

A few months ago I decided to go with PPC marketing, it seemed fast, easy, based on math and communication skills, two things I excel at.

I was doing well, but google decided my website wasn't good enough.

So I started direct linking instead, did well again, but still wanted my own website, so I set up a pretty large review site, I thought it was good quality, apparently google didn't, my ads didn't run and when I emailed.

I found out I was suspended, why? The email didn't say, it just said it could be one in a few reasons that they listed.

I emailed back awhile ago, and am still waiting for a reply, but despite the money, and time i've put into learning adwords, I think i'm ready for something else.

I have 4 months until I leave on my LDS mission, I still make money off of basic article marketing.

Please, any advise from someone doing well out there? I really feel like I have the dedication, i'm just itching for knowledge!

I'm thinking of maybe going into some blog marketing or something next, basic seo things.

Thanks guys,

- Nils Evensen

P.S. after writing this post I feel strangely...happy I think getting it out on paper (or internet..) really made me realize that things aren't that bleak.

Do not worry man. Sometimes when you outline all the things on paper and start to look through the problem as of the other person would look at, you can realize that things is not so bad.

Although I think that AdWords is the thing every marketer should know (it is just my opinion) the real deal is other traffic generation techniques.

You said you are good in communication. Why don't you try a video marketing? Create 10-15 videos, 1/2 - 1 minute long, with tips and tricks for your prospects. Make those videos simple - from your heart, so that people are willing to click through to your site.

Definitely start your own blog. Blog is a social media platform just like Facebook or any other. The difference is that you own it, so you can do there whatever you want. Make great posts, which persuade people to take some action - put some comments, subscribe to RSS or subscribe to your newsletter.

The next would be social media itself - look in this post, I give some more information about it - http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post2438270

I hope it gives you some ideas.

I got mine through the hosting company. You can use these vouchers, but when you sign up for facebook ads, you still need to provide your credit card details and watch how much you spent each day and put a budget on your daily spending.

Hey guys thanks for the replies.

Yeah I think video marketing would be great for me, I think my skills point towards that direction.

I live in South Jordan, Utah, population about 51,131

It is part of the salt lake city metropolitan area with a population of 1,130,293.

    Hobbies?

    Violin (pretty good at this)
Working out (getting a nice body finally)
Chess (used to play competitively, not so good anymore but would be with a few weeks practice)

Getting some ideas already by listing that

Thanks for the cheering up guys, you'll see huge success posts from me in months.

Edit: Thanks for the facebook ads tip

Hey Nils - I'm in West Jordan. I don't know what your selling, but if you want to shoot me a PM, or just reply here with any info, I'd be happy to take a look for you. I've had a lot of luck with other guerrilla marketing tactics that don't cost a dime, and may be able to help you out.

By the way - congrats on the mission, man! I got a brother coming home in December, right about the time you take off. He's in Switzerland right now and is having a blast.

Anyway - feel free to contact me. Happy to help any way I can.

Hey Nils, I got your PM, but apparently I can't write back until after I have 50 posts! Oh well, I guess I'll just keep posting in the forum until then... But to answer your question....

It really just depends on what you're selling. Everything works differently. In 2008 I owned a small retail store, and it did close to $300k in online sales without a single dime being spent on advertising. I coordinated major national events, and put together a forum that became the largest of its kind in the world, loading over a million pages per month at one time. Since then, the fad died off, and so did the traffic. Some things just come and go, so you have to plan for that. I think of all the things that we did though, the thing that brought in the most sales was creating regular youtube videos that answered questions about the product, or introduced new features, or explained how to repair things, etc.... We also had a blog that was basically the text-version of what we explained in the video. If you become the ultimate guru for what you're selling, you won't have to spend a dime.

The other trick, of course, is just ensuring your website is built in a way that converts. You want people to know what you do in 2 seconds or less.

I could go on and on though.

What is it you're selling anyway? Do you have a website?

I guess since I can't send you a PM, you can either write back here, or just contact me through my website and we'll get in touch via email. Either way. Whatever works for you.

Hey Widemind if you have skype add me at nils.evensen

Anyway, The most I have is an affiliate review site, I do not sell any of my own products currently, but from what it sounds like I should probably change that.

Take another look at their TOS, most likely you've overstepped some rule.

My advice: Establish a contact and straighten things out. After something like this, if your suspension is revoked you can do whatever you want after 2-3 months without being reviewed.

The amount of effort you need to put in to your IM business will take as much as your LDS mission will. How much are you putting in preparing for the mission? I'm willing to bet quite a bit. Your IM business is no different. Things worth doing take time. Keep that mentality and you won't be so prone to discouragement.

Thanks for the encouragement guys, don't worry, i'll get there

Matt you have a good point, thinking back to when I was most successful with IM (years ago I got to a good $100 a day for awhile) it was because of good old hard work and effort.

So I have a new plan, I have a niche selected, and a product ready to promote.

I have a squeeze page (bought it, PLR, product it comes with is good) I know the niche because I was a frequent buyer in it.

I am going to write 5 articles a day, and make 5 youtube videos a day (at minimum! I work a 40 hour job off to the side too so i'm setting my sites low)

This should get the income ball started, and a lot of opt ins. I check stats on my old ezine accounts and I should get plenty of clicks by the end of the month.

    Thanks,

    - Nils Evensen

Keep contacting Google. I have been banned from them through no fault of my own after being a publisher for over 2 years. It took almost 2 weeks to get reinstated. If they weren't going to reinstate my account, I would have been out nearly $2,000.00 in ad revenue.

As long as you are open and HONEST with Google, they will work with you. They are simply very slow to react or respond. Always be polite and try to resolve the issues.

For those of you who don't know how I got started, I thank Teresa King. My Mom!

I really think I just got Lucky. Without her, I would still be working for Amazon.com making much less. (Amazon.com was a good company so don't take it the wrong way)

I got Lucky (not a get rich type thing, but a solid revenue generating NICHE site that got me into the game which My mom Gave to me and I rolled with it) I've learned a ton over the years, but am still learning.

Here is a PAT on the back and some quick advice. While you are looking to get things FIXED with Google, Look for other sites that maybe able to replace Google. I know that is harder than it seems but lijit.com may be a great avenue for you. I now use them more than google for my social sites as they bring higher returns unless you are in a top paying niche site. If you need info about lijit, please feel free to ask me about it. There is no affiliate program with them yet so it will just be an honest take on the site and service.

Anyway, just keep on working, keep plugging away and DON't EVER quit. You never know when a great opportunity may just fall on your lap.
