How to promote an online service?

Suppose you have an online video production company, seo service, software, etc. Besides WF, what else would you do to promote such service and get clients?

Here's a list of my ideas:

Have a website and promote it via ppc, seo, etc.
Have a facebook & twitter.
Have a LinkedIn account.
Post on Elance, Guru, Freelance, oDesk.
Post on forums.

I need more ideas. What else do you have in mind?

I would start with video marketing. Post some videos in YouTube with tips, tutorials and tricks, so that people get engaged and what to see your website.

Online Promotion not only includes the ideas added by you but can also be done via increasing visibility at Premium Search Engines, Increasing PR, Optimizing Pages.

Do add more views to your site by Video Marketing, RSS feeds & one more possible ways to attract traffic is to do article submissions, Telemarketing, putting more categories in terms of enough info in the site so that users can diverge to any other media or online portal.

A good route to go about it would be:
    1. identify your target audience - profile them as much as you can, as better as you can
    2. find out where they are hanging out
    3. use someone with authority (in your audience eyes) to give you a plug

For example you have an online video production company. You can go to the chamber of commerce and talk to the president. Befriend him. Help him out with some problems - help him do videos to better spread his message. In exchange ask for a small plug. To endorse you in one of the meetings.

This way you get perceived like an expert by all the attendees and you get a lot of business out of it. And it doesn't cost you pretty much anything.

    Just some old fashion networking.

Hi, consider who your ideal customers are.

They could be from existing clients, or you maywant to set your sights on others in your community.

Since you offer a wide range of services, you may want to work out which one generates the most money for the least work. Offer this only.

From there you can pinpoint who these companies are and the best way to approach them.

Always remember the easier you make the offer up front, the more success you will have. This may mean having multiple steps to get the main big sale.

Using white papers or special reports that alert them to impending dangers in their business will get a high uptake from potential clients. This is because you position yourself being more valuable and have their best interests at heart.

    All the best,
    Ewen
