Twitter question. 2001 following limit. Real of fake?

I was told that twitter would set a 2001 'following' limit if i have not hit 2000 followers. i do see that my 'following' status would not exceed the number 2001 no matter how i keep adding. But what puzzled me is that my followers keep increasing with the pace as if i'm 'following' someone every minute. And when i decided to stop adding, my followers would increase while my following would remain at 2001.

So my qns is, is the number 2001 for show only? Should i keep adding? (will twitter ban me for that?

WSO: I PROMISE/GUARANTEE you that this will be the LAST WSO you will ever need to purchase!

Here's the thing. The above may seem too good to be true but all I can say is there isn't even 1% hype or BS in the above sentence. This WILL BE YOUR LAST WSO to purchase.

I think you should keep adding more and more followers.

Try TweetAdder - it will prune off the folks that are not following you back - and allow you to add more followers - the game becomes - pruning off those that do not follow you back, while adding more people, waiting 48 hours, pruning, rinse repeat.
Tweet Adder gives you 250 adds for free- afterwards - their is a license fee to use the unlimited app.
Try also Twellow - Once you break 2,000 following then the the next level is 5,000 followers, - someone correct me - it's when you get past ? 20,000 ? that Twitter allows you to grow at will -

Look to maintain a 1:1.4 following /follower ratio til you break free.

hope this is of help - please someone check my work. : )

As far as I know, there are technical limits simply preventing it.

You can't follow more than 2000 people unless you have 2000 people who follow you.

When you reach the magical 2000, then it's a matter of 10% difference - you can follow 2200 people when 2000 follow you.

Then there's another point where your ratio can be wider, but that one you'll have to find in their TOS.

I'm not sure how it is working right now, I moved 2 accounts over the 10K about a year ago for a client.

what they said at that time was that you wouldn't be able to add more after 1999, and had to cross the limit with followers first.

actually it was not true, but the numbers had to be close. We had setup autofollow and we crossed the 2K following, with 1980 followers or so on the first account, on the second... i don't remember.

Remember to keep your ratio at 1:1.1 max followers/following after you pass 2000. One of the best parts of Tweet Adder is that it shows this ratio and will stop following or unfollowing at any specific ratio you set.

I've reviewed Tweet Adder on my blog below about Twitter tactics, because it, along with TweetDeck is a major part of them.

Always be aware that that 10% is your growth potential, if you have a lower ratio such as 1:1, Twitter will allow you to follow more people a day, but this benefits should only be used to help you work up to 1:1.1 quicker. Tweet Adder will also show you the percentage of people that you follow that are following back, it's off-set if you follow all back as I do, but still a great indication of whether or not your Twitter approach is working. If you're not getting at least 25% following you back, you know you need to make some adjustments.
