Best Freeibe Delivery Method Today ..

Hey guys, a noob question for y'all ... looking over most of these big name programs, they all seem to be derivatives of Frank Kern's work .. either simplified or just hacked. All have the freebie giveaway to hook people .. all major products launched give 3-4 good content videos away, PLF advocates this, Micro Continuity was free CD plus shipping (recently changed to avoid new regulation issues) ... my Q is this .. in these days of digital delivery, is there any marketing/benefit reason to actually ship a physical free product any more .. ie. would this give more weight/implied value to your freebie and convert higher, or is this just a legacy tactic than can be replaced by immediate access to the online freebie content now, after the squeeze page has been filled in?

Greatly appreciate the input of those who've been there/done that ..

In my experience, I've found it depends on your budget. Physical products are always going to have a higher perceived value than purely digital whether free or paid.

The best thing about going the digital route is that you can get started on a shoestring, usually $50 or less. Also its instant access for your prospects.

With physical you have to order a seed inventory in bulk, setup shipping and handling, stay on top of fulfillment, etc. This is harder to do, but can potentially be more profitable depending on what you are giving away and what your backend offer is and how it converts.

As far as Frank Kern being the inventor of this tactic, he's not. Giving stuff away for free in order to gain interest and eventually capture a sale has been used for many decades in advertising and marketing, simply because it works.

I personally use the digital route for my businesses.

    Hope this helps.

Very true. Head down to your local shopping mall. Check out the cosmetics section; see if they entice you with a free sample if you give them your contact details.

Head down to your local supermarket. See if anyone is giving you free sample tasting of their new food product as a strategy to market their product.

    Freebies are everywhere..

thanks for the info guys. Naturally I meant that there is more of Frank's ideas in these 'systems' other than just freebies .. finding niche markets, building rappore with your list, etc, etc, but I appreciate your quick feedback on this. I will probably go with a digital 1st run, and then when I have fine-tuned this, do a split-test on that vs physical product ... thanks again ..

      Hi

The other not so obvious benefit as a marketer of the physical route is that you build up a list of physical addresses.

      Cheers

Physical products definitely carry more weight for a lot of people... for IMers, not so much... we are into the get it now, I want my info this instant kind of mindset. But for other niches, I believe if you can give a physical freebie, it would definitely have a higher perceived value.

I actually did a survey on this a while back and the majority of people (this is in the weight loss niche by the way) wanted a physical product.

    hope that helps!

update : I just wanted the Micro Continuity 2.0 update .. Rus recommends scrapping the free CD altogether - apparently a lot of the big players now just do a cheap intro trial period, which saves a lot of headaches, avoids any FTC issues, and actually converts with very small dropout numbers ...
