Is the Internet Marketing game almost over for us???

To All: What are your thoughts about the oncoming entry by Fortune 500 type companies into the internet marketing space...where we now prosper??

I'm hearing that the game will fundamentally change...and not in a good way for many.

What is your take on reports like these:

It was 2005 when I started with IM. Since then every 6 months or so someone starts walking the internet sidewalks of the online marketing community with a virtual sign that basically says "Online Marketers, the End is Near!" lots of times its your helpful guru that has the answer to the problem for around $50.00.

Unfortunately I can tell you through personal experience buying into that hype can cost you a lot in time and money and knock you off track on achieving your goals.

I am not saying bury your head in the sand and pretend its all roses, but I have yet to see any of these gloom predictions come true, in fact its just the opposite. More and more opportunities open up on what seems like a weekly basis.

Talk of "the end" is just crazy. Yes there are a lot more people doing it now, but you know? There's a lot more search volume going on too

With every obstacle comes new opportunities. You just need to be dedicated, learn from your mistakes, and keep moving forward!

"We don't like their sound, and guitar music is on the way out."

I do see it like rock and roll, popular music, in a way. In the early 1960's big business had seized the trend, homogenized it into Brill Building music production lines and were putting out really crappy music as compared to the rough and tumble days of mid 50's. Then, along came the Beatles, Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, etc.

Although, given my knowledge of history, I do have to worry when I see the US President and big corporations working together on a project such as the 'Voltswagen'.

      Hmmm...

Scare tactics to make you purchase the product they are trying to sell at the end of the videos?

      I think so

Here's my personal experience with ____ is dead statements.

I started out in web hosting. Every single month a new thread would pop up 'is the web hosting game dead?'.

Some people say yes, some people say no.

Yet there are new web hosting companies gaining reputation and coming out of nowhere every single year.

I say it's dead when you personally say its dead. Nothing will stop someone with the right determination.

Internet related businesses including marketing are still alive and well. I can tell you for a fact I know 1 person who generated $1million in 6 months, and another whose company just got funded for $15 million USD. Granted not everyone will be a success. But those who are doing it right, are making money.

If you rely solely on what you read on WF, I'm not sure how successful you will be. I personally believe in getting all the information one can from all the sources available.

Ditto on that - and it is all what we set our mindset too!

Forget who said it but here's one thing for certain:

Change is the only constant in life!

So many things can happen in the future - as long as you have confidence in your marketing, can adapt and innovate - no matter what happens - even if the internet - GASP -disappears - your marketing and sales skills gets' you out of anything!

Yes IM is dying. Dibbs on your niche and domains.
        lol
IM as a means to a end itself may just die, but IM as a tool in your marketing arsenal will never ever die unless the internet does.

My big question is what are they going to call the mobile marketing niche. MM? Will we have MM gurus and get rich quick on your iphone for 47.00

Yep, it's all over. Pack your bags and go home.

Seriously, the only thing to fear is the government effing it up so badly it's no longer a viable platform the average person can use to build a business.

This. No matter what apocalyptic event entails. Finding a need and providing something that satisfies this need for an amount that makes the customer feel like they are getting the better end of the transaction will never stop working.
Some people call that being a hustler. Most people can't make money in any any condition barring a global disaster. Shoot most people can't make money doing one thing let alone diversifying on a fly

I agree with this and I certainly feel that one needs an emergency escape when this country goes to smithereens(figuratively, maybe literally, lol). Namely either leave the country, or, have assets stashed, such as; a mansion outside the country, and, all the goodies to feel relaxed.

      Ok politics aside I'm done.

Big business means exactly that BIG BUSINESS and usually not just for that business many others will benefit. Every threat is an oppertunity only those who identify this can survive.

I'd be more concerned if I owned a small bookstore and Barnes and Nobles set-up shop right next door to me. But on the internet, the little guys can still make some big money and get traffic!!

Just like the 'physical' world, all those Fortune 500 companies don't leave room for any small businesses to operate. You either work for a big corp or for no one.

      Wait a sec ...

That hasn't happened in the 'physical' world. More people are employed by small biz than big biz.

No reason to believe that would mysteriously happen online.

Let me know when a Fortune 500 company gets a marketing website as popular as the Warrior Forum.

Like @InternetMarketingIQ, the only things that will quite this are the taxes and regulation by the governments.
