Youtube Video Quality (problem with my upload)

So I used Jing to record my screen, and uploaded a video to youtube, and the quality is not all that good. You can see here. Is the problem Jing? Or maybe it is settings on my computer? Any ideas?

  • The quality is fine. You usually have to wait for a full hour before Youtube can render the video properly.
  • Ah, thank you! It is much better now. I didn't know that the quality gets better only after an hour. It's nice when doing nothing brings about improvement.
  • Josh Anderson has the best youtube stuff i have seen... He is on here often... If you ever have problems - he's the dude.

    • Zing is very simple to use, and costs $15/year. Camtasia is $299, right?

    • The best is to have your video in flv since it will get converted to flv anyway, but if you have a high quality source file, the quality won't suffer that much.

To the OP - nothing wrong with the quality of the video, but if it's possible to do it with Jing, you should zoom in every now and then as it's not that easy to see what's going on right now. I know it can be done with Camtasia, not sure if you can do it with Jing since I've never used it.
    • Well it all depends on what you're trying to achieve.

But currently mp4 is the preferred choice (especially for file size & quality)
  • Thank you. Yes, if viewership starts to take off, I will certainly invest in Camtasia as well. You are right about the zoom. I may also just style the fonts larger. So far, I have less than 100 views per video, but hopefully over time I can add videos and increase overall reach.

    • Best Formats for Uploading

YouTube can accept almost any video format for upload, but for most users we have found the following settings give the best results.

      ■Video Format: H.264, MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 preferred
■Aspect Ratio: Native aspect ratio without letterboxing (examples: 4:3, 16:9)
      ■Resolution: 640x360 (16:9) or 480x360 (4:3) recommended
■Audio Format: MP3 or AAC preferred
      ■Frames per second: 30
■Maximum length: 10 minutes (we recommend 2-3 minutes)
      ■Maximum file size: 1 GB
    • Just a thought, but you might want to consider some videos that answer some very basic questions about PHP programming. I am not a programmer and find the subject matter too fast for me.

For channel subscribers and building that trust factor, I think a few introductory videos may help, and then you lead into your software.
