Check out the YouTube video on this page:

Usually when you click on a YouTube video, it goes straight to YouTube. But this one just pauses instead.

Does anyone know how he did that?

Also, how did he remove the controls from the YouTube video?

He used that to put the YouTube video on there.

This is from their terms:

"You shall not download any Content unless you see a “download” or similar link displayed by YouTube on the Service for that Content."

I assume that the service above has to download the source file and put it in their own player. As long as the software is downloading it from within your account (you can download your videos from the "My Videos" tab), it is perfectly within their terms.

Well why bother with that then? If you are hosting it yourself then why upload it to Youtube to begin with?

No this video is hosted on Youtube and played thru the JW Player, which is why there is a perceived benefit to doing such. (Free hosting!!) The question is, is Youtube okay with that? If they are, then this is quite significant for video hosting IMHO.

Quoting myself! LoL.

Anyway on second thoughts, I don't see the benefit really. JW player is nice but to go thru the extra coding to embed a Youtube video is kind of useless really. You can do the same thing by using UNLISTED and no related videos showing right from Youtube. The YT player is just as fine really, and I am never concerned about somebody clicking to Youtube because they go right to my video, and see others I have made on my channel.

So use the JW player just to remove the FF and RW, which mostly piss off viewers anyway! No thanks.

I am using JW player for a few video sales pages and its the only one that will let you completely turn off the controls... That I have seen.

I believe there is a plug-in for Wordpress which stops Youtube opening up in another browser if they double click the video, I am afraid I have forgotten it's name, but the following plugin allows you to stream YouTube videos in your own custom player without downloading them and re-uploading them: WordPress › ZD YouTube FLV Player WordPress Plugins

  @Ron Douglas, there is a site called "keepvid (dot) com" that is able to download youtube videos. Don't know why, but there are several other sites like this that downloads any youtube video "lickety split."
  
  I am thinking since it is allowed to "embed" video from youtube as well as other video host sites, that these sites are just taking that one step further.
