Wait a Minute...This isn't the norm, is it?

I've started perusing Clickbank trying to get an idea of products to possibly choose for promotion. One, I'm not disclosing the name, says you get 75% commission. However, out of your share of the 75% commission, you get to pay the 7.5% Clickbank commission fee, as well as the $1 per transaction fee. So, then it's summed up that you actually earn 33% on the total sales --- huh?

So, supposedly your share is 33% instead of 75%.

Haven't noticed this on others I pulled up. Surely this isn't the norm for vendors, is it?

Anyway, guess the only remaining question is: Should I throw fresh cow pies at them or just put them on the "no way" list. If they are trying to pull this on the affiliates, I can just imagine how they'd treat anyone who bought their product.

I really don't know if Clickbank allows something like that, but it sounds like a rip off to me. I would trash the idea of being an affiliate for them. I thought the vendor was supposed to pay those fees. Why should an affiliate have to do this? Doesn't sound right.

If that is the case then truthfully it may not be worth your time!

CB deduct their fees, then you get 75% of what's left.

The gravity on them was less than 9, so maybe most people are put off by this. Anyway, I'm learning.

Thanks to all who have replied. Will be staying away from them.

That sounds like the standard calculation, to me. But it doesn't work out to you getting paid 33%, unless the product you're selling has a really low price.

Say you sell a product that costs $39.

Clickbank takes 7.5%, plus $1.00. Clickbank takes their share out of the full purchase price. So, $39 - .075*$39 = $36.075. Less $1.00 = $35.075.

    Now, your 75% commission comes out of this $35.075. So, .75 * $35.075 = $26.30625.

Clickbank rounds that down to the nearest penny, so you get paid $26.30.

That works out to about 67% of the selling price. Not 33% at all.
