Facebook Roadblocks

by Christie Love 10 replies
Dear Fellow Warriors,
I hope someone can help me with a little roadblock I’m experiencing. I have been asking people from my Facebook Groups to add me to their network of friends. My intention is to build my network for marketing purposes. (and, of course meet a few friends along the way)

When I send messages to various people, asking them if they would add me to their network, I hit a block that says I am reaching my limit. This usually happens after I send about 6 or so messages. Today, I actually got blocked from Facebook. I am not adding a link to my messages or anything and I am asking them to add me, which they can agree to do or not. So, I don’t know what’s the big deal.

Does any one have any suggestions on how I can add more friends to my Facebook network without getting blocked? I haven’t used software before, but suspect that software would be recognized as spam much faster than a friendly email.

Do you generate income from Facebook? If so, please share your thoughts and successes.

Thanks!

    Christine,

I've never used it in the way you are mentioning - groups and marketing.

I have used their ad system and I'm not getting the best conversions with CPA offers. $80 in ads $44 in revenue

Make sure when you ask for friends that you do not have an affiliate link in your profile.

I do not have any affiliate links in my profile, at all. That's why I am confused.

OK, no affiliate links but what are you trying to sell when you ask for friends?
          What about your sig file?
          Are you using that?
You have to be really discreet on these networks.
Give it a days rest and try again and let us know if you're still having problems getting friend request...I'm sure someone here with more experience will chime in.

You said yourself that you are on facebook to market to facebook...
          Wrong mind set.

Ease into the social network system and gain some trust first.

Yes, I understand that I need to gain trust first, which is my attempt to add friends. I have not marketing anything to anyone yet. I want to give it some time and socialize first.

When I send a message asking them to add me to their network of friends, I just acknowledge the fact that we are in the same group together and tell them that I would like to connect with them in the future. I end with a, "Thank You" and sign my name. That's all.

I've researched their Q&A and I don't see that I am doing anything wrong. Yes, I agree. This is very harsh. This even happens when I am replying to people in my own inbox. I have tried to contact Facebook a couple of times regarding this issue, but they have not responded back to me.

If anyone else has any ideas, please let me know. In the meantime. I will give it a rest until my block is released.

            Thanks,

I know facebook have a limit on how many friends you can request in a day (not sure how many) but 6 or so seems harsh! myspace's limit is around 300 i think( but who uses myspace or spamspace as it call now)

facebook can be very good for traffic if you stick to their limits and use their "events app" and create your own "groups" etc (i've had some success with it, it took some time though)..but being blocked for that amount of freind request seems (i'll say again) "harsh"...it might help to read their terms to see if thier's anything in their about "friend request"

  • I have had some experience with testing their limitations.

Are you mass messaging? Or are you individually sending personalized, and unique messages to different friends, that you connect with at least on a semi regular basis?

Basically, to an extent, it even depends on how well you know the person you are sending the message to.

Most importantly though is the rate that you are sending them, and whether or not they are a "mass" message
