How to see ALL the keyword data for a long term tail which IS getting traffic

Hi fellow marketers

What is the "one stop shop" to see all the stats for longer tail or more obscure keyword phrases for an industry. In other words, you know how there are many keywords that are definitely searched for but doesn't show in the standard list when using word tracker / google keyword / keyword elite or whatever. I've seen compete.com but it's 200 bucks a month or something (gulp). If you buy the full version of wordtracker, do you literally get access to ALL the stat data for a phrase? Or is it just not possible to do this and have to use your judgement.

Thanks,
Phil

I don't think there's something more reliable than Google. They hold nearly 65% or more of search market.

Whenever you use a keyword tool, confirm first where and how are they getting their datas. Read my blog post here: http://www.taknique.com/blog/2008/10...ls-conspiracy/

If it does not exist in Google keyword tool, you have to dig deeper using other Google web services like adwords, google suggest, etc.

Thanks for your help, I will read your blog post.

It just seems a bit funny when I already know the exact key word which is driving some traffic to a person's site yet when I type that into google suggestion tool/adwrod search thingy or whatever it's called, it says zero results for the month....and this is the case for loads of keywords which I know is getting traffic but comes up with zero in the keyword tools..???

That's why you must have your own system of keyword research.

Many people missed lots of opportunities because they solely rely on tools.

Smart marketers know that there's more than what the tools are reporting.

I second using Google for the bulk of your research. Word tracker is okay, but doesn't give you the data you can get from Google, and not as accurate as it use to be.
