Feedback wanted on open rates

OK, don't knock me .... I grew a list for 3 years before I was able to actually mail it

So, off my mails trundled... and I just looked at the stats. It's one month on and I see:

Emailed: 24,000
Bounced: 5,000
Opened: 500
Clicked on something: 750 clicks
Unsubscribes: 26

How shabby is that? Are there any benchmarks?

I really only sent out that first email to cleanse it of bounces, to see who was left... so it wasn't my finest hour as such. I just wanted to see what happened to the numbers... I expected more unsubscribes/bounces to be honest.

So ... where does that sit in the scheme of things?

    I would work on your open rate by producing grade A content. I am for 40%. Also play around with your title. Starting with RE: works well
