We need to move our business to the next step

I am a newbie here so please forgive me for not wanting to give too much away. I will be brief. We have been in business producing our range of self hypnosis cds and downloads for 7 years,we are qualified and also run a small practice. We sell these cds on our own website as well as Amazon ebay etc. We have over 30 titles and have many testimonials from satisfied customers from all over the world.

We sell enough to make a small living from them but we know that with this genuine product we could be selling a lot more if we could get them noticed by a wider audience. I could consider a profit share but I have to admit we are very cautious and protective of our product.

The other factor is that we have no budget for marketing.

Any suggestions would be appprecaited.

So you just need 2 things:

    1. More targeted traffic

    2. Better conversion rate of visitors to sales

Give us a feel for your current numbers.

    Cheers,

    Hi Neil
When you ask about numbers, I am assuming you mean visitors to our site?
We are currently getting 180-250 a day but those are false figures really because we are running a competition at the moment which is getting plenty of interest but it seems these people are just entering the comp and then going away. Having said that, we are collecting the names and email addresses and currently have almost 5000 on our list (about 1400 from the competition)

Our conversion rate at the moment is 1.41% although it was a lot higher than that from less visitors pre the competitions.

You should think about starting an affiliate program. If your product is good, converts well and you offer a decent commission, just get a handful of decent affiliates and you would be able to retire.

Thank you Will. Can you supply any links explaining affiliate schemes. Our product does convert well and as we produce the product ourselves, we can offer a decent commission.

Have you looked into Clickbank? I know you have your site and you are building a relationship with customers before you sell. Having a simple set up on clickbank can attract affiliates to your account.

May be you don't need the whole long sales letter that products have on clickbank. Just a thought.

We did have a look at clickbank but it looked a bit of a minefield, we are not as savvy as we should be really.

If your website looks a little dated, get new clean, professional, updated design. Show the audience that your up to speed with the web especially if your getting a high number of visitors leaving fast.

Do some social marketing by creating a Facebook page to promote yourselves and your product. Don't forget about Twitter. (You can do all of this yourselves with out outsourcing and it's free!).

Off free samples of your product in exchange for their name and email. This will hopefully increase your list.

The website could be better but I don't think it's the worse out there. We do have Facebook page promoting our products and we do have a nice freebie on the site. I need to look at Twitter.

      Thanks for your input Ryan

What are you doing to market your site currently?

If the product is as good as you say then you need to start video marketing. It is the most powerful way to get a word out. Create 10-20 videos with tips related to your product, submit them to YouTube and then post a link back to your site.

If your product solves some problems that people have and which they are trying to solve by looking online, then this is the best way to go.

The next thing is blogging. Create a blog where you publish some posts with tips that help people. Over time, you will get great exposure and more sales.

    I hope it helps,

It sounds like there's nothing particularly unusual here. That said, we haven't seen your site.

There are no BIG secrets. Just do something every day to either:

    1. Increase targeted traffic

    2. Increase conversions

    3. Build a system for following up and building backend sales

Every post on this forum contains a discussion about something you can do. Just pick a few and work through them. Then pick a few more.

There's no "one size fits all" marketing plan nor a magic wand that makes it all happen. It's a gradual and linear process.

    Welcome to our world

    Cheers,

    Neil

Thank you guys for all the advice.

I have made another thread which kind of explains the problem. Most of this is over my head.
