Who the hell says Internet Marketing is easy?

Once upon a time in America a 16 year teenager started surfing and finds page that promises him to make a lot of money online. Then that page shows him the most secret method I am sure 100% of people here don't know:
Here's the secret Shhhhhhhh don't tell anybody:

1) Become affiliate of product or make your own product
2) Sell it through SEO and PPC
3) Get commissions and make sales
4) Damn no other step needed you should be millionaire by now!!!

Then that teenager did the exact thing and make alarming -14000$ in just one day. The rest of day he spend abusing and cursing that guru for lying to him and never tried again to make money online.

Story of most of the newbies. Even successful people here may find similarity in it but their ending is different, they tried again and again. But one thing I want to clear specially to newbies Internet Marketing is not easy!!!!! If it is so easy then here there will be only millionaires here talking about blonde they date last night and New Lamborghini model. So guys did I said something wrong or exaggerated anything (except blonde and Lamborghini)?

I assure you that internet marketing is not easy, especially when you are just beginning. I started this trek months ago and was fortunate enough to have the tenacity to make a whopping $40 in my first two weeks. It's been a wild ride since then as I have found my calling in promoting affiliate products, but do want to start a dropshipping company by the beginning of next year!

And if I told you everything I have done up to this point was easy I would be lying to you. When I first started I would spend my nights and weekends working on my websites, making them better, adding content, promoting and backlinking. Once I started making money I began outsourcing some of promotion and all of my SEO which has free'd up my weekends! What I can say IS easy has been the passive income I have generated since setting up my projects--that is really enjoyable.

It's about as easy as creating any business out there.

Broken down into its simplest elements you need....

    Leads that are targeted....
    An Offer....

This is the case in virtually any "method" or "technique" you choose. The tricky part is figuring how to generate enough leads to satisfy whatever goals you have and what you do with them once you get them.

Personally, I think that once someone can break it down into its simplest form, the next step is brainstorm creative ways to achieve it. And creativity is not something that can be taught but if you have it, you have a far better chance of doing better than someone who wants to follow the same system that everyone else is using.

After doing it since I was about 19 (turning 32 in 2 days, *gasp*!), I would say that IM is rather easy, and I love every minute of it.

Well in a way, there are quite a few of us who would be guilty of spreading the "internet marketing is easy" rumors, namely those who market "internet marketing is easy" affiliate products, or who design their own "i made 4000 in four hours and I never even put on pants, buy my book and I'll show you how I did it!" products.

In other words, people come here all the time baffled as to why they're not making millions because the ebook they bought said it was super-easy.

I'm not complaining - I studied manipulation, errr I mean sales, for years and I know how the system works that way. I know to truly make money online it takes a different skillset that takes a while to develop (or for some just comes naturally). But there are a lot of people who don't get that. They are seduced by the slick, perfectly-tuned words from salesmen who make their living selling another 49.95 ebook course on how to make 5k a day an autopilot while playing golf.

When you start, everything looks hard and complicated. As a newbie back in 2002, I know how it feels to start from the beginning and not know what you are doing. But as you go along and lose some money here and there trying different stuff, you eventually learn the ins and outs of internet marketing.

No one here woke up one day, decided to make money online, and got rich their first month or even a year. It takes time and those who succeed, are the same people who failed miserably in their first week, month, and even their first 4-5 years like I have.

Well it is easy compared to say....an offline business.

Sure, you have to put loads of hard work in at first but how many businesses do you know in the offline world that you can get started for just the price of a domain name and a hosting account?

IM is defiinately hard work and anyone that sells it as being otherwise is probably lying but it is still easier than doing a regular day job and starting up an offline business.

    LOL.

Here's how I feel about it: it's simple, not easy. It has a learning curve and it takes persistent work.

Starting with IM is really hard.. but in time, you will learn to love it... It's just like learning something new.. studying and analyzing new things. Eventually though, you'll get used to it and will see how IM could be easy. Time, patience and effort is really needed... through hard work you can attain success.

    Good luck and more power.

There is a big difference between being easy and requiring no work.

Internet marketing is actually very easy. It does, however, require work. Is writing articles hard? No. Is creating websites hard? No. Is getting traffic hard? No. Is creating products hard? No. Is setting up sales systems hard? No. Is doing on and off site SEO hard? No.

Do every one of these things require work? Yes.

Nothing in the processes required to make money online is really very hard but they all require work to see any benefit from them. If you can't, or won't, put in the work required to make the processes function properly then you will not see any money from what your doing.

In this day and age of instant gratification way too many people expect to be making a million dollars a day just because they read somewhere that it's possible, but few are willing to actually work to earn that money.

No one is going to just give you loads of money for nothing. If you want the money, then work for it and earn it.

Well said. The only thing I would add is that I don't consider something to be "work" unless I'd rather be doing something else. And that's where outsourcing come in handy.

      Perfect.

I would add that it IS hard work if you have never set-up
a squeeze page before, if you don't understand HTML and
try to do it from scratch, if you just started using an auto
      responder, etc.

But it DOES become 2nd nature and VERY easy once you
do it enough times, and fun...more fun than the process
of learning it out of fustration.

For example: Most kids don't like the process of learning
how to ride a bike...but enjoy it so much more when they
can successfully do it anytime they want. It never get's
old, but would we appreciate what we learn if the learning
curve wasn't there? I doubt it. That's why it's there.

The process of trial and error, mistakes, etc forces you
to appreciate success when you have it more often times
      than not.

Personally, I'm really good with online marketing, but I
don't like it. I am and will always be someone who loves
the offline process better. And it pays in spades

The X's and O's are easy. There is no rocket science to the process of
          marketing online.

What is hard is the discipline to do the work and the patience to wait for
          results.

That's what trips up most people.

In a nutshell, Internet marketing is basically either :

            1) a business in itself (like if you were an old-school marketer before the web took off).

            2) a means of promotion

So focus on your bottom line. If it's

#1 above, get into business mode, seek help - even free from the SBA but definitely from those in your niche who’ve been there, done that. Develop a short plan of action similar to what you listed above but with concrete income goals and steps to achieve them that are based upon success models in your niche.

#2 above, determine means of tracking and ROI goals, and adjust your sights: look at what you are selling, competition, your means of selling (like does your site / cart work). Work this activity in with the business (#1 above), as it cannot stand alone, it's only a process in the businesses' system & structure (a cog in the wheel, so to speak). In short, if your product is poor, the shopping cart is not working, the sales copy stinks, the website navigation leads in circles, etc., even the BEST internet marketing methods can and will more than likely fail. Need to look at the big picture.

I totally agree with you. IM is really hard, frustrating and at times impossible. But that is the path that each person takes when they decide they want a change for the better in their life. Is it easier to work a job from 9-5 with a set rate of pay and a boss that hinks you are an idiot?

Is it easier not to dream of a better life? The people who promise that it is easy are those who were snake oil salesmen in their former life. But IM is the wave of the future. It doesn't matter what type of business you establish on the Internet, you had better master the art of Internet Marketing or you have NO business.

Lucky for you, you have access to the Masters of Internet Marketing here at the Warrior forum. No, it is not easy, but it will take you where you want to go. Just stay on the path. Learn everything you can and then IMPLEMENT it. The biggest challenge for us is to just Do it. The next challenge is to keep doing it even when it isn't working right away.

Good luck to you. Keep on your path, you will find success because you won't quit. What would be the alternative?

    It's definitely not easy.

Simple, yes... but definitely not easy.

The process is simple.. but the implementation, focus and application is the hard bit. Get over that hurdle and you are already half way to your goals.

There is no business that is easy if one is looking for fast money. The key to success with Internet marketing - you need to like it. As some very smart and multimillionaire online marketer told once (I cannot remember his name) - "Since I started my business online I didn't work a single day. I was just enjoying what I like." It is an extremely powerful concept.

That is the secret. If you do what you really love, then a word hard or easy is not appropriate. You just set goal, plan tasks, and you move forward.

I love Internet marketing and I know where I am going with it and how to make it huge. It is just a matter of time.
