Hi, I'm Eric Thörn from Sweden. I'm excited to be here, seems like an awesome place and I'm ready to work hard to get good at this

I read Steve Wagenheim's free ebook about the four different you can earn money online etc. And he recommended to make a forum post to get advice on what I should learn and do next. (btw, Steve seems to have some solid stuff, probably gonna end up buying something from him )

So my goal in IM is mainly creating my own products, but also
earn money on affiliate marketing.

So here is where im at:

I'm a beginner in IM, but I understand the foundations about market research, traffic, conversion etc. I did the 30dc and the end goal in the 30dc style is to ultimately create your own product when you have a good niche, good traffic and good competition. The only strategy i know and the one that was in 30dc was this:

Find a niche, do market/competition research and create a blog with affiliate on it. Then just get try to get to #1 on google for my keyword with articles/backlinks(SB)/web 2.0 sites. And look on the traffic, if the affiliate sells and other statistics to determine whether I'm going to continue with the niche and create a product or try another niche.

About affiliate, i just know the basics of how affiliate marketing works. That you can sell affiliate through blogs, articles, website with sales letters etc. I don't really know much at all about this (how to be a good affiliate marketer at least).

-

Now that is just the very basic stuff, and what I'd like to learn more about is how to handle affiliate marketing, what the good strategy's are and what makes great affiliate marketers great ($2,000+/month).

Anyone have any tips on where to go? any good ebooks or articles? maybe even some subscriptions/membership sites?

Thanks,
Eric.

    Hi Eric,

Your question is a huge one, so rather than trying to give you details on such a large subject I'll give you some principles that have worked well for me:

    1) Have a specific goal, and break it down into daily/weekly/monthly tasks

    2) Equip yourself with all the marketing tools you need ( Sales/Capture Page Builder, Hosting, Autoresponder, Url and Ad Tracking etc)

    3) Track everything!

    4) To get started only promote affiliate products and/or services that come with great training.

    5) Put the training into action!

    6) Pre-sell, rather than sell. It works better.

    7) Have a long term view and expectations of your business.

    8) Don't give up! The results are worth it.

    Cheers,
    AllanJames

Archie: Welcome to the forum. This is the best place on earth to learn. Just do a lot of post reading and ask questions when you don't know or understand something. You will find the best marketers on the internet, right here, ready to answer and help you out.

That should give you time to figure out which niche you want to be in.

Thanks for the advice, i appreciate it

I did complete 30dc, I have a website up and have done all the 30 steps. But i did it from start to finish this week so I'm not ranked in google yet so i dont have my proper traffic right now. So we'll see how that site goes in a few weeks

And they don't cover how to create your own product in 30dc, they mostly cover just market research. But that is what they want you to do after you are done with 30dc if you have a good niche to work with.

Would the private "war room" be any good to me? or is it for intermediate-advanced people?

Much of what you'll find in the "War Room" requires some intermediate or advanced knowledge but there is a good bit of very useful stuff in there for the absolute beginner too.

You might also want to look into the new "Product Creation" sub-forum as well.

I highly recommend affiliate marketing as a starting point for beginners. It can be the ending point as well. Many IM'ers make a good living doing nothing else. I found Rosalind Gardner's book on the subject to be a very useful foundation.
