Help Please I'm Stuck

Okay so I have a site that is number one in google and number 2 in bing and yahoo. It is a nice little page that has a few articles on it and a few clickbank products. It gets no less than 40 hits a day, but it is more often around the 55-60 mark, I have over 100 individuals in the awebber list. My bounce rate is around 40%, I have been told that's not a bad figure.

Okay so what's the problem? Answer: Time I don't have time to write to the list, well I do have time, I am just struggling with what to say. I give a free recipe when they sign up, but other than that I haven't written to them at all. It's a waste, because I get 2-5 sign-ups in a single day.

I also know that if I had some decent CPA offers up I would make a decent amount from it, but I struggle to find one that suits the niche.

I am not sure whether or not I want to sell the site, but I wouldn't know how much it is worth, and I really feel that if guided in the right direction it would be silly to sell it.

I am not even clear what the niche actually is. I guess it is geared to women aged between 20-40. The site is The Perfect Housewife - How To Become The Ultimate Domestic Goddess

Any advice would be much appreciated.

What would you do if this was your site?

Thanks,
Anna

One thing you can do if you're stuck for ideas is head over to the Dummies.com series, do a search for you niche and then optin in the mailing list for that niche, they will send you related emails and from the email you get you can pick up ideas for your emails, I mean you can use those ideas to formulate your emails as you can be sure that they are professional and will only send top quality and highly researched emails...
Meanwhile create an ebook and as soon as you have it sell it to them, it works a treat, believe me.

    Good luck

I thought about mailing the list to ask what topics they would like to receive, but hubby says that it's pointless, because people don't respond.

You can try using Survey Monkey and just put together a quick survey, people are more likely to respond to surveys, and then make a plan.
By the way, Survey Monkey it's free to use if you just use the basic features.

    Hey Anna,

You are sitting on a GOLDMINE!! You rank #1 for "perfect housewife", a decently competitive search phrase that gets 12,100 global searches monthly....you get 2-5 signups a day, and your site itself has some valuable, reader-friendly content.

If I was in your position, I would:

    - PROVIDE VALUE to my list -> I'm not exactly familiar with this niche, but I would imagine topics such as cooking, cleaning, interior design, furniture shopping, taking care of children, vacations, entertaining. You already have MOST of these on the site - why not create some reports and offer them to your list?

    - Make some videos and make a product out of it. "PERFECT HOUSEWIFE 101 - The COMPLETE VIDEO TRAINING SERIES".

    - Create a membership site where your readers can exchange tips/advice and you can offer them additional affiliate products that are helpful

    - Create fun features in your list so that each week, your readers CANT WAIT to open up your email

    Just a few thoughts....

That is exactly what I had planned on doing, but it's overwhelming and I don't even know where to begin.

I feel kind of bad writing to my list after all this time of doing nothing.

I originally wanted to model it off this site FlyLady.net: Your personal online coach to help you gain control of your house and home.

Usually we throw up sites to sell one particular CPA product, but this has the potential to be so much bigger than that, and I just feel a bit overwhelmed and lost.

    Anna,
Unless you're completely bored with the site, don't sell.

You've got an attractive site with lots of useful information on it. Do you have a tracking program installed (like Google Analytics)? If you know which pages are getting the hits that will tell you the subjects your current readers are interested in, and what to cover in your emails. I noticed that your free gift is a chocolate chip cookie recipe, so cookies or pastries might be a good sub-niche to explore.

There are many ways to monetize the site. Amazon Affiliates for kitchen gadgets, etc. would make sense for the site, or you could publish a cookbook and sell that on your site and through Amazon.

    Will

I'm not bored with the site at all. The problem is I've started a syntax and spinning service that takes up a lot of my time, and when it comes to writing for myself I just procrastinate.

Thanks for the ideas, I had originally thought of doing an ebay affiliate with cooking gadgets and I have been accepted, but I found it a bit complicated. CPA is so much easier.

Anna, There is a wealth of ideas here...

In this day and age... where's the hubby?

    You need some more content.

If you are not sure what to say to your list ..maybe they want to hear about something you did to save money, avoid disasters in the kitchen and so on.

I'm not sure what CPA offers you could put on there but search Clickbank, PayDotCom and other affiliate sites to find a product you could sell.

You could put Adsense on there ..offer ad space to related niches.

Think about what you would expect to see on a site like yours and
put out your version of it...the perfect housewife needs more than one recipe, you have the whole house, yard and garage(if you want) that you could put out content on ...then email your subscribers you have new content.

If I keep going this will end up in a 10 page essay ..so thats all for now.

    Hope that helps.

Oh yes...there are tons of videos on YouTube that you could put on there or do one yourself.

I guess I have ignored the house husbands a bit LOL. I think the problem is there is so much to write about it is hard to pick one.

I guess I need to make use of my resell rights weekly account. It only takes about half an hour to do a decent rewrite that is around 90% original.

I think my game-plan should be to set a bit of time every day or week to work on it, otherwise nothing will ever get done.

Thanks so much for your advice.

I find people answer surveys more when you give a thank-you gift for doing it. Think of something they'd want and you'll get a higher response rate. You can also have a customer appreciation day, and let people call in to "consult" with you. I use these sessions to find out what my list wants.

As far as what to write about to your list-figure out what you want to sell them-then write stories, case studies, things that are interesting that move them toward where you want to them go and what you want them to buy next.

Thank you all so much, you've all given such great advice.

Today I am going to focus on getting the page monetized better, and write a letter to my list and apologize for being so inactive. These ladies have clearly been signing up for tips and recipes and I haven't been providing those at all.

I am also going to throw a few more articles up on the front page.

How about hiring someone to write some articles for you?

OR - Send your list an email - "Want to be featured on our website? Your article or recipe could win you a new ________"

Ask THEM to send you their articles and recipes.
Put the best ones up on the site for people to vote for. But the only way you can vote is if you're a registered user.

Then everyone that is in the contest will start telling all their friends to register and vote for them because they want to win the prize.

This could be a monthly contest assuming you have enough traffic and active users.

Then the only thing you'd need to write are emails announcing and promoting the contests.

Plus you'd see what your audience is so interested in that they took the time to write about it. My guess is you'll see a pattern start to develop which may help guide you to what you need to focus on.

My advice is that if you do not have the time to put into it you either need to outsource the things you need done or sell the site. It does you very little good to just have it there doing what it is doing now. You can get more out of it by selling it or if you want to keep it you need to decide what needs outsourced and have someone else write everything for you.

    Send them more recipes.

    What to sell them?
    Kitchen accessories or diets

Try outsourcing a years worth of content for your list. You don't need to write different content every week. You can have it written once and feed it into your autoresponder once. set and forget.

Then once a month you can write something current to keep the list relevent. It's alot of work at the beginning but once you have it set up it's alot easier to manage.
