Blogger Blog users: Can you use your own domain name with Blogger?

My first time using Blogger in years was today.

I am impressed with all of the improvements it's made of the years.

Is it possible to use blogger like WP.org? Meaning, set it up on your own domain?

Thanks,
Ron

But you can still hook your own domain on it.
Click 'Settings', 'Publishing', Switch to 'Custom Domain', 'Advanced'.

In this case, would I own the b log like a WP.org blog?

      Thanks for the reply.

Ah, thanks for the "run down".

          You saved me some headaches.

It really is as arbitrary and unreliable as it sounds.

Having your own domain mapped/pointed to a blog hosted on their property doesn't exempt you from any of their terms of service.

So if you're asking whether it's as "safe" as self-hosted Wordpress, the answer is very clearly "no".

I don't think so, but you own all your self-written posts, and the search engines will 'see' it as your own blog.
It's a good practice to export your blog to your hard drive on a frequent basis as well. If for whatever reason Google decides to end their relationship with you, you can still decide to import your posts in a selfhosted WP-blog. In that case make sure that your permalinks are identical to the ones you used in your blogger-blog. That way, the search engines won't 'see' the difference (or treat it differently).
        Hope this helps!
