Newbie with an idea - Lookout

Hello,
I had an idea for some niche sites yesterday...and being very new at IM I'm not sure which way to monetize. I was hoping someone could point me in a good direction.
I've noticed that a lot of the local service sites in my area are not optimized well. I.E... the local "plumbers" sites. Some sites that are ranking #1 don't even have any backlinks. So I'd optimise for say "Austin Valley Plumbers" keywords for example.
My question is should I try and get a deal with a local plumber and have him pay me for leads? Should I do a blog and throw some google ads up? Is this whole idea bunk? I was also thinking eventually I could sell the site to a local plumber....

Thanks

Yeah a lot of people have started doing this. If you get a site ranking high in the search engines for a geo-targeted keyword, you could lease the site for x dollars per month to a local business. You could even put an ad on the site asking local businesses to call you if they are interested in leasing the site from you.

Yep, there is much already written on this, but in case you have not seen any of it....here is the quick answer.

Most small businesses only have a static web page.

If you have the skills, just market yourself as their webmaster. It doesn't take a lot of skills to be so much better than many small businesses when it comes to the web.

Charge whatever $ you think you are worth each month and show them the results. Be sure to cover your real expenses. If you are good, they will be the first to see your results anyway.

      My best to you,
      Jerry

Hi Abru, look, since you are very new to IM, I'll strongly suggest that you take a little time to go through this forum. There are great and FREE info in this forum that could really help you decide on what business model you want to use. For example, do you want to do affiliate marketing, do you want to sell your own info products(like selling reports...) or do you want to start a membership site...? see what I mean! So choose first a business model and take your time to study that model until you understand it. After that, just go and implement it. Hope this will help.

        Good luck!

        Tony

I think that you should get your own website. Optimize it and then place Google Adsense into it so that when someone clicks on any of these ads, you earn money.

If you can do that and gets a good amount of free search engine traffic, you can make a good auto-pilot income online.

Is hard to make them pay you for leads, but you can offer a one time fee SEO advice, or a monthly fee for a SEO watch service.

Never underestimate the power of the local market, let's think in conservative terms just as an example.

If you charge $200 for your service (a small fee but is just an example) you only need 25 clients to make $5000, and unless you live in a really small village, I bet that there is way more than 25 local bussines in your area.
