When Do You Turn Your Back on a Once (Very) Profitable Niche?

I've been pushing this one niche for a couple of years now and I was making extremely good money from it for a lot of that time, but it has slowly dried off over the past 8 months or so. The main product I pushed added an opt in front and center so of course my sales plummeted (I've written another post about this in the past), but since then I've tried a few other things to replace it with and nothing converts all that well plus I don't get the same traffic as I once did. I still write tons of articles for this niche but am well into the it's no longer worth the time versus effort realm.

I guess I've had difficulty admitting this and extricated myself because it's long since been so good to me in the past but I think it's run its course.

I was sharing this to ask if anyone else has ever had similar experiences in any niches themselves and how and when they were able to dump it?

    I wouldn't necessarily dump it for good, as most niches have ups and downs. Granted, this downturn has lasted a while, but things could pick up in the future.

    Perhaps you should move on to another niche now, and focus your energies there. However, keep an eye on your other niche for new signs of life. If there's an upturn in that niche, you will be at an advantage because you already have some things in place.

    If I were you, I would not dump it at all.

    Maybe it is time to get into other profitable niches but if you do I would encourage you to find products that can not only pay you once, but can pay you a monthly recurring commissions.

    Doing this will drive your income to higher levels and you your income will not dry up when sales are down or a niche that you choose does not perform well.

    Option one:

    If you've been making "extremely good money," create your own product that matches the need filled by the one you're promoting.

    Option two:

    Alternatively, create a report that addresses the same subject as the one they are giving away (don't plagiarize, just fill the same need). Make sure your affiliate link is embedded within the report. Delete the direct affiliate link(s) on your page(s) and add an opt-in for your free report. Build an autoresponder sequence that then directs your list to their sales page. It's unlikely that they'll opt in for the vendor's report since they've already read yours. Even if they do, they're still on your list.

    Option three:

    Do option two then once you have a list, do option one, also promoting your product to your list.

    If you are going to dump it, share the domain name with us, so that we can figure out what you were doing, and do it better than you have been doing it... LOL
