Internet Marketing Personality Types

For those of you who are familiar with all the studies on personality types, I think that this has a lot to do with success or failure as an internet marketer. Here are the types:

Expressive - Think Sales Guy
Driver - Think CEO
Analytical - Think CFO
Aimiable - Think Executive Assistant

So, the different personalities are definitely more geared towards different kinds of daily work. The personalities break down like this:

Expressive - life of the party, wants to have fun, everybody likes them, they like to talk
Driver - Wants to be in charge, cut to the chase, Bottom line it for me - I'm busy!
Analytical - wants to figure it out, slow decision maker, has to know the details
Aimiable - wants to help, thinks about people, cares about people, "nice guy"

With these personality traits, you are probably going to naturally do better in certain areas of IM...

Expressive - Guru Biz, Info marketing
Driver - CPA, PPC & Sometimes Info Marketing
Analytical - Affiliate Marketing, Builder (build out 1000 sites), Adsense
Aimiable - Niche Marketing, Problem/Solution, Helping People

If you think about it, for most expressive personality types - sitting there and grinding out 1000 little affiliate sites would not only drive them crazy, it wouldnt ever get finished...

And for the analytical, standing on stage and talking to 100 or 1000 people wouldnt work... They arent going to want to build a "personality" business ala Dan Kennedy...

I know when everyone gets started, they are steered towards affiliate marketing for several reasons... But you may want to give some thought to who you are... and what you are naturally geared towards... Because if you are trying to work in a business that isnt the right fit, then that could be the cause of your frustration and lack of success :-)

Funny you bring this up. It's my favorite subject and I'm giving a speech on it next week.

There are several different 4 type models but they are all essentially the same. They just assign different names to each one.

I clearly fit the Driver but also tend to be Analytical. Learning these types can help you out in so many ways and it helps to understand other people better.

I am a mix between amiable and driver. I am always in charge, but I base all of my decisions on what I think my customers or users want, and always encourage feedback and suggestions. I then make rapid decisions based on that feedback, and I'm unstoppable at that point. Wow, I sound like some kind of self-help guru when I say that.

The key I think is to identify the things that you naturally are going to do well based on your type - and try to run a business that allows you to capitalize on those things... If you arent cut out to make 1000 sites... Then dont do it - even though you might see someone doing well with that method, you might never succeed at all with it. So figure yourself out and it will make deciding which direction to go very easy.
