When you log into the mailchimp dashboard there should be an autoresponders tab at the top.

Thats it really. Tho I wouldn't recommend it. Their forms are not very customizable and once your user opts-in there is no "thank you" page or anything. Just default green text that mailchimp supplies under the form which you can not edit...kinda sucks

go with aweber if you can.

Wow, didn't know that, and didn't read their terms, lazy me! so even if the link is cloaked?

Thanks for the heads up, I just confirmed that with one of their sales rep. on a live chat, thanks again

Alas no ... I'm not nearly sociable enough for "social networking".
Thanks for the tip, I will try aweber, its worth it, and I am going to make sales this month to cover everything.

I would like to believe that everyone is social in his or her own way, maybe not interested in social networking I could agree!

Actually I just switched from Aweber to MailChimp for two reasons:

                  1. I am using it for my own products so no worries about affiliate programs issue...and it's free up to 500 subscribers.

                  2. I have paid aweber $20/mo for almost a year and only have around 100 subscribers, 50 of which are pretty much crap! So at this point I cannot justify spending the money any longer on aweber when I can get the exact same service for free.

MailChimp DOES have 100% customization of their subscribe forms, thank-you pages, confirmation pages, confirmation email etc. You just have to know where to look.

Here's how to create a custom opt-in form:

                  1. Click the List tab
                  2. Select the list you want to use from the dropdown
                  3. Click the "forms" button
                  4. Click the "create embed form code" button
                  5. Create your custom opt-in form

You can use their templates, modify everything and even modify the CSS if you know how.

If you look on the left hand side of that page there is a drop-down menu and you can edit the various thank-you pages, confirmation pages, etc.

I just wanted to clear that up for those thinking about trying MailChimp!

If you are not going to be mailing about affiliate programs, then it's totally worth it and you should really try it.

Thanks for the Info, but I think we are on two different path, I want to use it for affiliate marketing, don't have a product yet, but maybe in future will think about it.
                    Thanks.

Love MailChimp for offline services, but I wouldn't use it for an affiliate site under any circumstance.

      Thanks

Hey, I've been researching for my very first email marketing provider. Thanks for the information about MailChimps capabilities. Though it's good for some sort of mailing, I think for my purposes, I'd have to go for aweber.

I've been with mailchimp for over a year now, and I have zero complaints. Everything is 100% customizable, and I actually prefer them over aweber & getresponse.

Personally I prefer GVO's eresponder. Its integrated with their hosting and video hosting. It even auto builds squeeze pages using your videos and templates.

I did contact MailChimp with the following question:

"What if I sell my own products but every now and then I add an affiliate link to a product I recommend to my subscribers?"

    Here is what they said:

    Good afternoon Dr. Dan,

Thanks for writing in! As long as the campaign is branded as your site and only an affiliate link is included in the campaign that your recipients asked to receive, that would be fine.

Feel free to email us back if you have specific questions or comments beyond this that we can assist you with!

    Regards,
    Liza

Interesting, but very strange, isn't it? What sort of recipients ask to receive an affiliate-link, or a campaign?

Not sure I even understand what she means, there ...

Mail Chimp is good for testing stuff out, since its free. I often will use it to test new sites, new lists methods. If you get traction, or know that you are gonna get a ton of people, its better to switch to either your own list management (many scripts out there) or use something like Aweber. However, when it comes to setting stuff up, you have no idea if it will work or not, so why pay any money to just sit around.

I'm wondering if she means... it's ok if you had say, a newsletter with regularly delivered content and every once in a while added a link and mention of an affiliate product within the regular content.

As opposed to everyday sending an email that says "you've got to check this out" with a link for an affiliate product and no other content.

Personally I'd double check before attempting it or just go with aweber.

I took it as, I can have affiliate links in my messages as long as that not the brand (to sell others stuff).

For instance I will be selling my own ebooks and products on self development, relationships, and also sending out tips to business owners for generating business online. In my messages I will give them some affiliate links to tools I believe in.

The brand is me and not the affiliate links I am sending them.

But I would probably send your individual question in before using their service just in case.

          Really?

But how do you reconcile that interpretation of it with the statement in their TOS that affiliate marketing is prohibited, and with the fact that Warriors have had their accounts closed and lost their lists over having affiliate links in their outgoing email?!

On the other hand, if the affiliate link's on your website, and you're simply letting them know of the fresh new content on your blog, it shouldn't be much of a bother.

It's like Ezinearticles. They do not allow direct affiliate links, but links to sites with affiliate links are okay.

Mailchimp's pretty customizable. I love their "evil" pop-up opt-in form Worth checking out, afterall, it's free, what can you lose?

I use mailchimp and love it for my newsletter. I don't pimp affiliate offers in the newsletter though. Instead, I provide the newsletter on my site and simply link to the newsletter in the broadcast.

For a regular marketer wanting to send wave after wave of offers, mailchimp is not the way to go. For someone who wants to actually interact with their list, this is a great and viable option though.
