Advertising Sales-High Commission

I need four motivated sales people. This is an outside sales position targeting small to medium sized businesses. You must be professional in manner and appearance. You will be working as an independent contractor, and must be well organized and have reliable transportation. Sales experience is a plus, but is not mandatory. Please email a copy of your resume.

And got 2 responses so far:

1. I am responding to your ad on Craigslist for Advertising Sales People and have attached my resume. Although my background has all been administrative in nature, I did sell advertising last year for about 6 months part time. I am professional, outgoing, well organized and have very reliable transportation. Thank you for your consideration.

I'm interviewing her on Monday.

and:

2. Can you send me information about your product or service that you are marketing to small businesses? I have become extremely careful sending out resumes on this site. I hope you understand my concern. There are too many scams on this site. Thank you in advance for any information you can provide such as website etc.

Was it not clear that the "product or service" was advertising?

    Not entirely. The way people use headlines, both "advertising" and "sales" could be construed as keywords to attract applicants. Or you could be using "advertising" to mean, "In addition to sales, you will be advertising our products...in other words, promoting and selling."

    If you said it was, "an outside sales position selling our advertising services (or ad space, or whatever) to small and medium sized companies," not only would you not have received the unsure reply, but you'd probably receive MORE replies.

    As it's written, it's vague enough that you could be Amway or something.
