Is this expensive or free?

Hey guys,

I am about to start selling a service, and, what I am wanting to do is to simply buy like 20 or so domain names, and then, when someone goes to one of those domain names, they get automatically re-directed to one page that will have my service outlined on there.

I know that I'll probably have to buy each domain name, but, do I need to buy hosting space for each name as well? It'd be cool if I could get a $.99 special for each domain name, and then, just get hosting for one sight, which, will pretty much have a little bit of info, and a link to sign up for my service.

Any thoughts?

Jeremy

Maybe I am missing something but why would you need 20 domains for 1 [one] service?

Have one domain, a decent site on it and drive enormous amount of targeted traffic to it. Then sell...

It's as exactly as what Istvan has said. Why bother buying all those domains when you can simply drive major traffic with just one?

Spending those cash on promoting your domain sounds like a more viable option.

Istvan is right with respect to the fact that 20 domains really won't help you unless your sole purpose for buying them is to prevent your competitors from getting them. You may earn a slight amount of SEO juice if keywords from each of the domains were represented in your page copy several times but, other than that, there really isn't a benefit.

Personally, I'd start with one site and one domain. I'd build the site and tinker with it to milk ever last bit of conversion and SEO out of it. Then (and only then) you might consider building additional, similarly constructed sites with new domain names. There are tons of web hosts out there that will allow you to host a gajillion sites with a single hosting account.

      Hope this helps.

You're making a ton of work for yourself, why 20 domains instead of one? You can save money with a reseller account, but I don't understand I'm afraid...
