What To Do After Buyer Pays Via Paypal (For BIN) On Flippa?

Hi, it's my first time selling on Flippa, and someone paid me over Paypal the BIN price. The person had not contacted me before, so I only have the buyer's paypal email address.

I don't see any of this on the Flippa site itself, so what do I do next?
I have one pending bid at a low price. Do I accept that bid or reject it since I have been paid?

I can't end the listing because of that pending bid. Plus since I want to build up my feedback and stuff, I will want the auction to be reflected as sold.

Can someone advise me what to do next?

What details should I get from the buyer to complete the transaction?

Thanks a lot in advance!

P.S. I would have contacted Flippa directly, but it's Friday evening and I had missed the opening hours by an hour. I want to settle this before the weekend starts.

Are you saying that somebody bypassed flippa and paid you the full amount privately and your auction is still runinng ? I dont think flippa likes that kind of stuff so you may have a problem.

To be honest starting an auction without knowing what details you need from a peotential buyer is lazy and you are starting something ill prepared.

Prepare a standard template with open office with all the questions and details needed for your buyer and turn it into a pdf that you can send to them as soon as your site is sold.

Hi Dave, I'm not sure what you mean by not knowing the details I need from the buyer.

I would have spoken to potential buyers before accepting their bids, except that this buyer did not contact me at all and just bought the website immediately because he loved the niche!

I know I need the webhosting details, and other stuff like adsense, clickbank etc because in my BIN bonus, I offered to do the transfer.

What other questions do I need to ask?

Your suggestion on the pdf is good. I'll take that into consideration for my next listing.

Refund the buyer and do not sell the site to that buyer. It is against Flippa's TOS to accept payment outside of their site. Once you put a site up on thier site for auction then you can only accept bids through them.

The buyer could only get my paypal email address from the BIN and nowhere else. Hence, I don't think the person would have bypassed the BIN, unless he tried to pay, saw my email and then didn't go through and then paid privately. Is that what could be happening?

Flippa sometimes has glitches where it doesn't end the auction immediately when someone uses BIN. Did you get an "auction success" email from them? This would say that the auction ended by BIN and it also includes the buyer's email address.

Your pending bid won't matter if the other bidder did use the proper BIN function. Like I said it may be a glitch. Sometimes it's just slow and eventually the auction will say it's closed. If the problem doesn't seem to solve itself, contact Flippa's technical department.

I suppose there's a chance that they bypassed it - I don't know why they would - but if so Flippa might let you know.

You can contact the buyer through their account profile via PM - you could also use their paypal email address or the email address in your auction success email.

    Hope that helps,
    ~Ruth

For sure, flippa will tell you that your site sold. If the user paid with BIN, for sure Flippa knows about this. Contact the buyer by email and ask him!

Just accept the bid. It is lower than the BIN right? So it will have no effect at all.

Edit: Just read the rest of the thread. Did they hit the BIN button or just send the money to you somehow? If so, you cannot accept that payment. It's against Flippa's TOS. Refund him and pm him and tell him to hit the BIN button if he wants the site.

  • If you don't have require immediate paypal payment turned on in your flippa auction. Just have the person go into his flippa account and accept the BIN there.

If not, see if you can still edit your listing and turn off the automatic acceptance. Other than that, draw up a contract here is a decent template. Just change it around to reflect your website sale (be sure to include, the timeframe of when the website will be transfered, any guarantees, files that will be exchanged)

Other than that, your pretty much done. But be sure to fill out a contract. If any issues arise in the future or the buyer starts demanding you do more than was originally agreed upon having a signed legal document makes settling any disputes a LOT easier.

Looks to me like the person went around Flippa and decided to pay you instead of them. If that happened then how are you going to ship the product to them if Flippa did not get the sale notification?

I think that you should refund the person and ask them to buy again through Flippa.

Hi people, thank you very much for your help.

I was very careful in trying to ask my buyer how he bought my blog.

The buyer did go through Flippa, but there was probably some glitches and it was not reflected. I wrote in to Flippa, and they had changed the status to sold.

Now that I think about it, I remember reading another listing where the seller wrote in his comments that the blog had been sold through BIN, but not reflected.

Only thing I could think of was my buyer paid with VISA through paypal. Other than that, I'm not sure how it happened.

I had new bids, but I didn't take any action until the auction ended. Flippa also later told me not to accept them so that it wouldn't change the results. If I had accepted the bids, they would have won the listing with a very low price, and that would make 2 winners.

Anyway, I'm now working on transferring everything to my buyer. Thanks again! Flipping looks fun after all.
