Set-up of amazon affiliate site? What should I do??

OK, I have my own custom links to re-direct to Amazon instead of using their widgets.

Now should I have my own picture with 'more info' and redirect straight to Amazon, or should I have individual product pages which lists all the products and have a 'buy now' button? along with the various secure ssl buttons and also a 30 day money back guarantee button etc (As technically this is true as they will be buying through Amazon).

As I see it, there are pluses and minuses to each.

(1) If I use 'more info' this ensures I get the highest click through to Amazon possible, however my Amazon conversion will obviously be shocking as I imagine not everyone will be ready to buy yet and obviously the 1 day cookie may expire.
(2) If I use the individual product pages, and have a 'buy' button then surely no-one is going to click on the button unless they are definitely looking to buy and thus once someone does click through, the conversion once through to Amazon will be quite high? However for this tactic, the challenge is obviously to get them to buy through me instead of buying through an authority such as Bestbuy or Amazon or Walmart, obviously as soon as they click on the 'buy' button they are taken to Amazon, however they need to be comfortable with pressing the 'buy' button in the first place.

Thoughts welcomed.....

Why not both? Provide the picture and some descriptive information. Maybe not a complete product page, but enough info for the visitor to know that's what they probably want.

    Then give them both options.

Some will be ready to buy and would appreciate the Buy Now button. Others are still confirming their choice so you should send them to Amazon so Amazon can do what Amazon does best. Plus, when reviewing the additional information in Amazon's selling environment they may buy more than just the product you are promoting.

    Peace

I would choose option 1. Because option 2 makes out that you're the actual vendor, with the money back guarantee and everything. I know most people would realise it was Amazon but what if someone contacted you asking for their money back?

Actually, I've heard some successful Warriors who sell lots of Amazon doing a combination. They don't act like the seller of the item, they write reviews of the benefits, pros and cons of the product. Then they link the images to Amazon as well as include a buy now link as a call to action. Maybe this was what you meant but I kind of understood that you were going to list the product features etc. as Amazon does.

Anyway, I do believe longer reviews packed full of information and from an unbiased standpoint will do the best based on everything I've read about Amazon.

I'm still trying to decide on this myself.

Even if you do the redirect with the buy now button or get them to Amazon with the same link, it doesn't really matter how they get there right?

The buy button will be used for those who skim through and have mostly decided on what they want and the information gatherer will do just that from your website and then click through using the same affiliate link but for a different reason.

What about if you tested both and see what would bring better results? Run it for 14 days and let the numbers decide for you.

If you're using a good call to action and are targeting a particular product you might be surprised about how high your conversion rate can go. If 1% is a good conversion on e-products, then you'll be in for a shock when you start seeing 25%+ conversions on physical products.

And the thing is once they get on Amazon, even if they don't buy the thing you're advertising there's a fairly good chance they'll buy something else. That's one aspect of Amazon I really love.

I would go for #1. Include a review and some pictures of your product, maybe a YouTube vid embedded on your page if there is one. Write something like "Click here to get 20% off Fabulous Widget on Amazon" at the end. People will know they are heading to Amazon and will probably only click if they're interested, but it doesn't put the pressure on them to "buy now".
