Can anybody give guidance for creating an ebook cover and sales page

Hi,
I'm new to the forum and not too sure this is the section I need to be in. What I am looking for is some instruction on how to create an ebook cover and sales page. I've seen some really nice and catchy ones but am lost when it comes to creating my own. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,
Jim

I'm an advocate of the big clear message on the e-cover...
usually that means big words and no pictures of girls
jumping up and down and so forth. Big clear words
is what business book publishers use because they
make the book's topic stand out from 10 feet away or
more.... which is roughly equivalent to making
your book 2" high for an ecover view.

So, less is often more when clarity is the goal.

The laughingbird software is not bad if you're a total
novice with graphics. It's a little dated, but easy
to make nice looking stuff on. It's called the
    Web Graphics Creator.

Regarding sales copy... that's a big subject. First
thing is to know your prospect well, and if you
don't, narrow your offer until you know exactly
    who the buyer is.

Writing a sales page takes most copywriters at least 40 hours; its more work than you think. You have to become your prospect, come up with every objection that they have, then address it. If you don't have the money to outsource it, just do the best that you can. You'll get better over time :-)

I found a great copywriter through the Warrior forum for about $200. I'd check around for some of the offers right now and see some of their work to pick a good one. For ebook covers, I hired someone through Outsource to Freelancers, IT Companies, Programmers, Web Designers from India, Russia, USA, and more and they did them for $5 each.

    Hi Jim,

    * You can create the sleek ebook cover look w/ photoshop or w/ ecover softwares. Some styles are free at MyEcoverMaker. Although the quality is not as good as more pricey softwares. If you already have the design, I would gladly turn it into an ebook cover for you for free. I use some scripts that produces high quality ebook covers.

    * If you are running blank, you can always refer to KillerCovers or Amazon.

    * Web Copy that Sells by Maria Veloso is an excellent read. Short of buying & reading the book, you can refer to this checklist |Formula for Mathematically Measuring the Selling Quotient of a Website: (www webcopywritinguniversity dot com/formula.htm

It is meant for websites, but most of the principles apply to sales/landing pages.

    * Bob Bly is a well respected guru. You can learn a lot from him (Bly.com)

    * Dr. Robert Cialdini's books are very good too (ie. 6 Principles of Persuasion). They give you an understanding of what moves people to action. You can also get audio copy of the book in audible.

*These landing pages have good outline/layout. I refer to them from time to time. Simple but effective. UnBounce.com

    Hope the above helps.

The landing page is a different story - I have take several classes and have many products. Each has its own approach. But honestly you can find just about everything you need in these forums to make a great sales letter.

Just know that getting a great sales letter takes a lot of practice. Or just throw money at.

If you want simple ebook covers you can actually create your own using Excel and downloading Paint.net to finish it off. It doesn't take a lot of skill and you can create drop shadows and reflections very easily.

Design your cover in Excel and use Paint.net (which is free) to clean it up and make the background transparent. It is all very easy to do!
