Help with wordpress, real quick! please

OK, it is not really a "wordpress" question - it's basic HTML (html 101, if you wish).

You need to learn the basics or outsource it. There is no other way!
HTML Links
That site is a gold mine. Spend some time on it...

I use this a LOT. It is both an HTML question AND an Amazon question.

A) I write all of my text in WP first. Then I decide what words I want to be clickable links to a SPECIFIC AMAZON PAGE

B) I copy those words (trying to avoid typing because I am the world's worst typist)

I go the Amazon Page that I plan to send the reader to

C) I click on the *Link to This Page* Option on the Amazon Toolbar that is at the top of that page's window

A window pops up saying - Customize and Get HTML

At this point, I go slightly out of the order that Amazon expects you to use... (mainly because I want to be sure that I am remembering to use my Tracking Codes)

D) I choose the appropriate Tracking ID (if I am using one)

E) I select Link Type >> Text Only (Basic Display)

A new options appears -- 2. Customize Link

F) I replace their selected text with what I already have in my clipboard (Step B)

At this point, the Preview will change to reflect what you just copied. If you are a questionable typist, make sure it is correct LOL

G) 3. Get HTML Code For This Product Link

Do this by clicking on the HIGHLIGHT HTML Button directly under the code

Copy that your Clipboard (I use the Control - C key option)

H) Go to your WP Edit Post or Edit Page

I) Go to the Source or HTML View

Slide down the code until you find the words you chose in Step B.

Highlight JUST those words and then Paste over them with your Clipboard contents.
(I use the Control - V method)

This will insert all of the Amazon HTML into the middle of that text paragraph in the HTML. It will look very confusing in the HTML but if you go to the Preview or Visual option on the Edit Post or Edit Page, you will see that you have a clickable link. ;-)


If you need to REMOVE a link that you have inserted this way...

1)In Edit Post or Edit Page, in the VISUAL View (NOT HTML), highlight the Link words ONLY

2) Click on the Remove Link Icon in the Editing options directly above your editing window.

3) Voila... it is gone! Take a quick peek at the HTML / Source code and you should see your plan text paragraph there, nice and neat!


When I am using this method, my strategy here is to have ALL of my content for the Post / Page typed out and corrected first.

I chose the places where I plan to put the links. I will use different words / phrases for each of the different text links...

I open another FireFox Tab with the appropriate Amazon page (the page I am sending them to) open and I work my way down the WP page, making each link clickable as I go...
