Before I Waste Another Friggin Fiverr

Fiverr!!

It's only a Fiverr...

But not when you keep spending and getting the same results.

I'm at war with this site..

You see I've tried may of the different services for social things and it seems the people are either half doing what they say they will do or not doing at all.

For example..

I will post a status update to 5k friends..

Fair enough I find the profile with the friends..

The screenshot of the status update.. but I think that on more than one occasion the person has posted it then deleted it because the times I've tried it... around 2 ppl have visited the pages I wanted them to visit.

Is there something other than Fiverr or should I keep wasting my Fiverrs and feed the poor.. if they even are poor?

I'm sure its not just one person. One person in charge maybe, but I'm sure he has a team of outsourcers that perform the work.

I have been lucky with Outsource to Freelancers, IT Companies, Programmers, Web Designers from India, Russia, USA, and more and Guru.com ? Find Freelancers for Hire. Get Your Project Done. - can get a lot of links built for $5! I didn't get much from my 5bucks at fiverr in regards to social media stuff...it sounds good but doesn't deliver. I bet all their "friends" are so sick of just seeing offers and paid statuses that they tune it out...or maybe even the person posts a new status right after your message so it doesn't get seen very much.

Perhaps you have discovered a niche? Must be a lot of other disatisfied people/customers out there. Why not set up your own service but do it properly, with guarantees etc...

I tried my first deal on Fiverr and the guy didnt deliver. Same as the OP here, he supposedly had 5000 friends he was going to send to my facebook page. When I wrote to him to inquire, he told me facebook had closed his account. I got my money back, thankfully. So since Fiverr keeps your money, I tried this again, on a smaller scale, with a different person. We'll see how this works.

Yes there is a problem with people not doing stuff at Fiverr, the same problem applies at any outsourcing place. I'd seriously recommend only doing business with someone with decent feedback.

You could always find outsourcing around the same price at Digital Point to. They have a good feedback system over there.

There are likely a few gems on fiverr, most of them hidden in a sea of junk. Checking the providers rating and feedback is mandatory.

After all, how much quality work do you expect to get for 5 dollars anyway?

Hi Intrepreneur. It looks at though you (unfortunately) discovered the risk associated with the promise of $5 services. It is after all, only $5, and that's seems to work to the advantage of the site.

Consider how the site does not offer refunds for example. Instead of issuing refunds for poor service, parts of a service, or no service at all, Fiverr holds a buyer's money for future sales. Next, consider the number of people who simply say, "forget it" and walk away from the service. Fiverr keeps the money that buyers walked away from. That's one way Fiverr makes money -- via disappointment in the services of its sellers.

If you want a guaranteed product or service, skip mini-services like this and use full outsourcing services like vWorker that offer escrow, actual money- back guarantees, and free arbitration when necessary.

I've been lucky, all of the gigs I've ordered on Fiverr have been done, and done well. From tweets to a targeted niche, to virtual assistant services, I've been really happy with the work.

Before I buy a gig, I always contact the server and ask if they are still offering their service, to make sure they're still active on the site.

Is there a way to search for providers on fiverr that have positive feedback?

That would at least give you people that have actually done what they said they would and satisfied clients?

There's a way to communicate with the gig providers and get a feel for them, perhaps being much more selective in your choices of providers?

      just a thought...

When you do a search, sort results by "Rating" and then those with the most positive feedback will appear first.

I had several projects done with excellent results on fiverr. I guess it depends on what you want done and who you get to do it.

I also use scriptlance for bigger projects with very good results. Of course they have an escrow, and you can post your project and what you are willing to pay, then just sit back and watch the bids come in.

Yes, Fiverr has that. I recommend doing a keyword search for the type of service you want. Then for each 'gig' that sounds interesting, click "Read More". The next page should have the person's rating at the top. If there is no rating, the person is new, so I would not hire that person.

Below the description of the gig, all the "Buyers Feedback" is listed, both good and bad.

There is also a button to "Contact Seller".

A word of caution: Establish with the seller exactly what work will be performed in advance. I've ordered several gigs through fiverr, and have never been ripped off, but I did get a traffiic gig that wasn't what I expected: the traffic came from China

I think it's a good service, as long as you're crystal clear on what will be accomplished.

Reading the comments and realize that some of you may be asking a bit much for $5.
Do you really expect someone to redesign your full site for that amount? I wouldn't.

Basing a business decision on a rating seems a bit juvenile to me, only because there is no contact before committing. Remember high school, the most popular guy/girl wasn't necessarily the person you wanted to copy homework from.

Not saying Fiverr is good or bad, I use them as a quick first step to market for writing clients. But without having my own blogs and articles live somewhere, it would be really brain-dead stupid of me to assume someone would hire me to write for them based on how popular my profile appears (which can be easily manipulated).

Isn't testing the provider before you commit a better idea? Why not ask for only 1k to start, see how that goes. You can do that on Fiverr. There's no rule that you have to accept his offer of 5k.

I've had pretty good luck with Fiverr.com - Touch wood :-)

      Here's what I do:

      1. Contact 2 or more sellers and explain what I want done. If he offers to do a YouTube Channel background, tell him that you have a logo to be inserted and the overall feeling you want.

      2. Choose the person with the best answer.

      3. Let him do the work and give good feedback.

I must say though, I pay for tasks such as YouTube Channel background, Wordpress bug fixing, simple graphic designs and account creation.

I didn't buy the "tweet to my acccount of a million people". This is because it is a task that can't be measured well. I mean any child can get a lot of followers and just sell their tweets. If they have no relationship, a billion followers is still no use.

I've had mixed results at fiverr. I got a really sweet video for my ebook that I was blown away by. Totally overdelivered. But of course I saw a sample video before hand it was great too. I also ordered 10 backlinks and that job was completed as said and I was able to verify them easily. Happy with that job. however, I had two gigs that I wasn't satisified with. One was for a logo and it was mediocore at best. The other was for "rework your site to make it more professional . . ." (something along those lines). All he did was add navigations buttons (which was technically worth 5 bux I guess) but I had also asked him to do other things like rework the adsense so it fit properly and just little stuff like that. He hardly touched the adsense until I mentioned it on my feedback then he went and removed them all (still not what I asked for) and I told him I was happy to get him to go away and stay away, lol. I wasn't rude or anything and told him 'thanks i'm happy now' and his reply was to be more specific next time when u work with someone, lol. Yeah, he was a butt, lol. But whats bad is he had good feedback (must have been his friends).

I've found that contacting the seller before hand will sift out most of the trash offers b/c they won't reply anyways. I did hook up with one guy that said he would do all my design work in exchange for me recommending him to my list. I though oh great. Well, then I got a few emails from him then he disappeared before any work was done. So I kinda screwed myself by waiting on him. So finally just buckled down and started on it myself.

Moral of the story: There are good deals to be had at Fiverr, just be careful.

I tried a social media fiverr as an experiment. Supposedly tweeting over a few weeks. Even had my own area to log in and monitor the clicks. Allegedly 100s of clicks going to my site. Only problem was, neither Google analytics nor Statcounter recorded any incoming clicks.

Pick your gigs, its that simple. You want someone to blast 10K forum profiles with Xrumer and send you the URLS - easy. You want someone to jump through hoops for $5 - forget it.

Use it to grab those little gems that can work for you, and check their feedback and contact them beforehand. I can't see how posting to a load of random people on twitter, facebook etc would ever generate traffic, especially if that list is hit with fresh spam every day when the owner gets a new fiverr gig.

At the end of the day it is only five bucks...

I got good results from fiverr. If they did crap like posting status update then deleting it, you should give negative feedback. Decent sellers have great feedback, duds usually have negative feedback.

If you don't give them the negative feedback, they will continue to scam people.

I hired fivers to invite people to my fan pages, and even after the gigs are long over my fan pages are still growing everyday. Status update can be deleted but I got pretty solid results from fan pages.

I found some really cool people on fiverr for personal and business stuff. Occasionally, someone will not deliver but you get your money back or I had one who absolutely did not follow the guidelines and the thing is, you can give them bad feedback but you don't get reimbursed for something that was not made to order.

Another one, I ordered a personal video and requested a few changes but offered to pay him an extra $5 as I thought it was totally worth it.

I suppose $5 depends from where you are from too as in some countries $5 is actually good money.

Overall there are some gems on fiverr, you just have to find them.

A service I'm offering on Fiverr I also offer on my site for quite a bit more because it's worth a lot more than what I charge on fiverr. With this particular service if someone asked for samples I'd be tempted to ignore the person for two reasons

      1. It's five bucks. Get over it and invest it in your business is one of my thoughts

      2. The other is for this particular service having samples could very well satisfy their needs without paying me, getting a testimonial or developing a following

I've been using them more and more, BUT, you really have to make some inquiries into their past work and feedback, too.

I always ask for samples of their recent work. Some respond, some don't. Easy to eliminate then.

I try to form a relationship with the good providers and provide glowing testimonials when appropriate. I want them to pay more attention to my work orders and do the best job possible.

Also, you really have to operate with a bit of skepticism on Fiverr. Some of the offers are too far-fetched, and probably snag naive buyers hoping for the moon.

I posted this in another thread maybe it will be helpful for you:

First of all, you have to read the reviews first. I used to go blind in on Fiverr, now Im more adept to wait in a que and buy from someone who is really good. When I first started Fiverr I thought all gigs were equal.... yeah... thats not the case.

In my experience, buying gigs from my friends in the Phillipines and India has been the BEST value for me. With Americans, I usually get $2 worth of value for my gig. With my international friends, I usually get $15 worth of value. Now I go into gigs looking for international providers.

That's just my experience though. What type of gigs are you ordering?

This is an open and dynamic marketplace, and as always, caveat emptor. You have to first analyze the offer to see if it's even reasonable - if it promises the moon and appears too good to be true, it probably is. Look for tasks that can be automated with software (this doesn't apply to most traffic tasks though), and also inquire about the services offered and past work done. If there is good feedback on a person and he/she is responsive to your inquiries, only then do you seriously consider procuring his/her services!

I have found a lot of people want freebies, so the endless emails start.. You do need to have them push forward and ask for the sale (so to speak)..

I give them 3 emails of free info, because they want to know what you will do for them, That's fair enough. I don't want the people feeling that they're about to get ripped off because they don't know me from a can of paint.

But you have to say something to the effect of "I can no longer do this but if we were to move forward and start the gig, I can provide _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _. " Then go for it if they don't move forward close the endless emails and move on.

I do tend to want to over do what I say so I get good feedback but sometimes that doesn't help and they just want more, and for $4(your take) I personally can't justify it, plus the 14 day waiting period.

      Hope that helps.

I say this because I had 3 people post linkwheel jobs, and then cancel mine, which was relatively simple. Then someone sold something with a crack and the crack didn't work. FTR, I knew the chances of the crack working were slim to none but since the company has a "no refund" policy, and none of the other jobs were worth my time, I did it to spend the $5 and get it over with.

    NEVER again.

You know how I do a Fiverr?

I keep looking for the exact service that I need in the longer run - try multiple providers and waste some money initially - till I hit my Jackpot. Then I keep trying to use this Jackpot resource as much as I can.

Has been working with me so far, though I must admit that it has not been long for me on Fiverr.

Fiverr can be a crap shoot. Ive used the service several times. About 60% of the time I get what I paid for. Sometimes the provider is a no show and I get a credit with Fiverr.
You can find some good deals there and get Fan Page hits on Facebook etc. very cool in that regard.

I have bought and sold on fiverr... as long as you stick with people who have good feedback already, you're good. Never had a problem. I always stick with simple stuff like a tweet message or a blog post or something of that nature that people can do quick and easy but I get good value from. If you're looking for professional logos and headers and stuff like that, you're crazy. The person is only getting $4, seriously, what do you expect for $4???

As a seller, I've gotten orders and have good feedback, but it takes forever for the money to post to your account. That's the worst part.

The funniest thing is when you look at the ideas section, where people are requesting services. You always see big stuff in there, like write 5 articles, set up my shopping cart or do a complete re-design of my site. Ugh.

    Well,
Today i just checked out fiverr. Some ads are very misleading. For example some sellers write 'You will get 2000 backlinks for a fiver'. What that really means is only one backlink to their homepage but they seem to include the subdomains which has literally not much content. I assume it meant 2000 different backlinks and not just one.
Also, another example is you will get 1000 backlinks but it is not at all. Instead it is some foreign trash sites with no link shown of your site.

What surprises me is some of them have positive feedback and i wonder if they got their family/friends and their pet dog to help them with that.

But still there are a few that i assume are genuine quality sellers.

Check the reviews. Find out what other work has been done by this person. Don't be too quick to hand out your money. Also, if the work is not up to par. Then POLITELY ask for a refund back - because none of us likes to waste time and money.

OK so far I have over 80% success. Actually, the best results come from the pros, that want more exposure. Basically, this is like giving away free popcorn at a movie. The hope is to pull in more viewers.
