Building Up Facebook Friends list

This has to be the most information packed site ever. I am spending up to five hours a day sorting out a plan.
My aim at first is to get a LOCAL following so I can lead courses and classes. I feel that Facebook is the obvious start. I will, of course, need a HUGE list of friends to get any success.
With Facebook this can take a lot of time. Can anybody suggest a method to increase the number of 'my friends'? I have a profile page and I am going to open another one but I don't know whether to open a Community, Business or Group page? Any advice? Perhaps one is better than the others for growth?
This info is probably very basic but to me it is all very new. ANY advice at all about growing my friends list and which new page to start with (Community, Business or Group) will be greatly appreciated.
