How to get my domain .NET to overtake a .COM

I have a problem here. i recently did a web site and got a domain under a .net.

Ok..here goes:

my website ABC.net has the same domain name as ABC.com

How do i get my ABC.net site to go above ABC.com in the google first page?

Need help guys..

    There is no specific answer to this. Just because you have a .net it does not mean that you have to do anything in particular or special to outrank a .com. In simple terms the answer is SEO which is a hugely broad subject.

    i had the same problem few days back,i was stuck at 2 position for a midrange kw.the first site was .com and mine is .net,, the fist site had around 400-500 bl's n mine was 700+ with onpage optimization better than him..still i wasnt able to take him over..
    when i analyzed his bl's again i found that he got more good quality links than mine.and most of them were coming from comments..so i copied those links ,,added mine and i am at 1 position ahead of him.unfortunately now we have wikipedia at no 1 which was 5-6 previously.still working hard t get that 1 st position.

    hey amoeba, good advice to look at the competitor's backlinks and just copy their linking structure and then do a little extra.

    people who are buying something will ignore the wikipedia entry in google results. so if you are selling a product that answers the customers' question, being in #2 spot is a fine place to be.

      If you can do a short video or find one on You Tube that will help to represenr your site would help a lot.

        Good quality content updated regularly with some quality back links. I have about 10 sites either net or org and take places, on Google, above com's.

        I always prefer com's if they are available but I don't have a problem with the others. In my book give quality content and you won't go far wrong.

        Just as an after thought - get Market Samurai and see what the competition is doing back link wise and go one better.

    First of all see what keyword(s) they are ranking for, next use a popular tool like market samurai and check out the their backlink strength and other factors that they use for ranking or not ranking.

    There are lots of .net domains that outrank .com domains.
