Analysis Paralysis: vets - what is the 1st thing you did?

I see about a dozen posts a day on here from rookies like me, talking about how overwhelming the information & options for IM are.

While I recognize how weird it is to complain that there are just too many ways to make money with this thing, that's really where I'm at. Every day, I say to myself, "This is the day!", and break out my laptop, and then...nothing.

I start looking through this forum, start searching blogs for ideas, go through my e-marketing course yet again - and I end up not doing anything, and feeling overwhelmed again.

So, the question for the vets is - what was the very first thing you did?

I teamed up with a friend who was as graphic
designer and we set up a web design & hosting
    business.

We sold websites to local businesses. We found
a completely unexploited local niche market and
    cornered it.

I bought a stack of VCRs and sold videos on ebay. What a great way to hack at ad copy, and make money fast. I did this for several years, before realizing I was an internet marketer.

I did some personal inventory and identified what I already had skills in AND was passionate about. Then found a way to apply that passion to something in the IM world.

The first serious thing I did was walk away from a six figure job
and shot flaming arrows at my ship. Not always recommended,
but the journey has been priceless, rewarding, and profitable.

I started putting up some websites, and my first goal was increasing my adsense earnings. That got me a significant monthly income, not enough to live on, but enough to get some extra money in my pocket. Those sites still make money for me today.

It wasn't until a couple of years later that I started offering software products which is when I really started making money.

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

Completely agree with Christopher. Just go for it. You may not do very well at first, but once you start taking action, you'll naturally progress and learn as you're going.
