What to do when your blog posts are all 'Uncategorized' ?? ( Advice needed )

hey Warriors

How you all doing?

So I'm working on a major relaunch of my blog, to go with it I'm getting real organized and serious.

And now with this I'm finally going to tackle one aspect of my blog that initially I didn't know had any significance but now of course I know better.

But I'm puzzled and hoped one of my fellow warriors could offer some advice.

Since October 2008 my blog has been running, since then in the 70 or so posts I have never created a category, so naturally everything is in the 'Uncategorized' pile.

So I've now created plenty of relevant categories, but what do I do with all the previous posts?

My only thought is I have to manually go into each one and add it into a category.

Is that correct and would you suggest its worth the time to do so?

Thanks all!

Dean

    Hi Dean,

I do not think that categories have any significance for search engine purposes, except the convenience for readers.

Besides, 70 posts are not so big volume to get them into the appropriate category. So, you can do that manually easily in one hour or so.

What're the benefits of doing so - the only benefit will be for your reader, if they click on a particular category, then they will better find your older post. That is it.

I hope it helps a bit,

I am totally agree with PETER.

While the google only searches from the keyword and nothing else.

In my opinion you should only focus on the content of your blog which
      must be unique.

      Thanks

    Hi

Thanks to you both, I guess I'll set some time aside to do it :-)

A little mad at myself for not doing so from the start really... I'm surprised to hear you say you think there are no search engine benefits in catagories

I would imagine if you're using the categories in your permalinks there would definately be effects on your SEO for the posts.

    Do you not agree?

    Thanks again!
