Can I set up sites with different domains but with same copy?

Can anybody tell me if this is possible or whether I might lose value with google? In one of my businesses I generate leads, there's fierce competition so I'd like to buy different domains and use the same text. The reason behind the different domains is to use different keywords that location specific.

If this is fine, would you recommend I host the sites all on one host or host them separately?

Any advice on this would be highly appreciated!

Bad idea - Google will only rank one of your sites with the same content. However, a good idea is to use a service like human Rewriter to re-write all of your content and create unique sites.

Actually, you won't get slammed for duplicate content. I have two that have identical content and both are ranking on page one of Google and both are completely indexed. I don't make a habit of doing this, but I had a reason for these sites.

Hmm.. thanks guys! I think I might go with the re-writing idea just to be safe. I have seen some marketing gurus sell complete done for you sites on a niche and they sell each one to dozens of people, because these sites are duplicates does google index these properly?

They sure do. I would rewrite it, but Google indexes duplicate content all the time. Look at article directories with the same articles submitted to many directories. Look at duplicate news stories posted all over the place ... many cases of duplicate content being posted.

The so called penalty is for duplicate content posted on one domain, not duplicate content posted on many domains.

Not always the best to have the same content, but it's mainly if you have

duplicate content on the same site that google isn't happy about.
