Get a good hosting account and domain name, some offer a free domain name with the purchase of a hosting plan. Many for as little as $6 a month. Make sure the hosting has Fantastico to install free scripts like WordPress or Joomla and you can have a WordPress or Joomla site running with a few mouse clicks. No "web Creation" software purchase needed.

    Hi Hazlan,

I was in your place just 11 months ago! I used a free WordPress blog and realized results beyond my wildest dreams, but now I wish I would have used a my own site with WordPress on it. I would have had so much more flexibility and so many more options.

So, I say go with your own domain, and then add a blog to it.

I hope only success for you!

I personally find blogs better when you need to constantly update or input new info into your site on a regular basis...

You should have both. Use the blog for gaining credibility and building a relationship with like minded people. Then use this advantage to send traffic to your website.

    Hi Hazlan,

Sounds like you are not sure what you want to plan.

I see a few things here...
your own blog, a static site and other people's products from clickbank.

It really depends on what type of marketing you want to do.

Lets move a step backward to see what purpose you want to achieve.

Do you want to sell to a person one time or multiple times?
Do you want to build an online brand?
Do you want to treat it as a long term business?

Different answers to these questions will bring about different type of strategies.

If I were you, I will do all three and one at a time.

A static site with an opt in and a bait.
(You can get opt in from Getresponse and come up with your own 7 to 10 pages as a free ebook...you will also need a webhost for this)

    A blog with product reviews.
(You will need a blogging platform such as blogger or wordpress.org hosted by a webhost like bluehost or hostgator.)

Purpose of Getresponse is to build a list and if you are building a long sustainable business, you need to start building your list.

Then you can do email-marketing and insert your clickbank affiliate link...

Then beside investing money, you need to invest time and effort in building relationship with your list.

These steps sound simple and you will need to spend some time setting them up and joining them together as a system.

    My 2 cents.

    Cheers,
    John

This is a useful thread with good input. I use a blog on one of my sites and am about to put it on another. Its better than one that is disattached as people do visit your web site.

Like someone else already mentioned: if you're going to use a blog, use wordpress. it's great, very flexible and most of all , it's freee.
