How Do You Guys (Actually) Make Money?

And by this I don't mean... "Well you could do... or you could do this."

I mean if and only if, you are making money online...HOW DO YOU DO IT?

I am going crazy trying out all of these methods by people who haven't actually made any money with their own methods.

HELP PLEASE!

    Hi GoogleWarrior,

It all comes down to two things: having a system and focusing on the system. There are great methods out there and you don't have to go all over the place. Start with some great threads in the main forum or on the War Room that talk about the methodology. Then adapt it to your own style but stick to the basics of the system. Don't get tempted by other things while you are implementing one system. Just do it and just STICK to it.

I always tell people, start with the 5 star threads. There's lots of information there that you can really run with. Good Luck!

      Exactly.

      I make money:

      1. SEO services.
      2. Adsense.
      3. Amazon.
      4. My own eCommerce site (I stock the items) in a tiny niche.
      5. Just launched my own info product.
      6. Facebook Ads - dating (not nearly as much as I used to make).
      7. PPC (Adcenter) - a few small niches from ages ago - still making sales over a year later.

The key is to pick a niche/system and work it until you start making a profit. Then if you still don't like it/see potential in the system - do something else.

Don't jump from one thing to another - learn how things work, make a little money and then decide what to do next - new system/niche or expand.

I agree. You should first test and see a few business models or affiliate programs and other business ventures. But the key to online success is to "find a proven profitable business model and stick to only it".

This is the way you need to think. Also, finding someone that does it and is willing to show you. I was in your exact same shoes, trying all different kinds of "Systems". Then I found someone who talked the walk. I literally have a phone number to call when I get stuck and he himself answers.

Granted, there is a lot of absolutely fantastic information to be found right here on the Forum, and very helpful people. Stick with it, persistence pays off.

I make money by Google Adsense ads, providing services to other marketers, selling PLR articles, selling affiliate products (both physical at Amazon and digital at Clickbank) and recommending certain programs to people who follow my IM journey (Aweber, Wordpress themes etc).

That's just a small section of the many ways in which people in this business make money. I think the main question should not be to ask others how they make money, but to find out what the best way is for YOU to make money. I know I'm not good at some of the things other Warriors do to make money, so I do the things I can do with my skills at this present time.

And yeah, I know what you mean about people selling systems but not actually making money off the stuff they're teaching. The only way a lot of these people make money is from the guides themselves! Sad but true. Fortunately there are plenty of systems that have proven results behind them too. You just need to find the right one and stick to that one.

There are of course people making money in at least a billion different ways so its really not important to know who specifically is doing what here. Instead I would suggest determining what YOU want to do, then seek out people who are doing exactly that and follow them and learn from them. Otherwise I'm afraid this thread is going to do nothing more than give you some ways to make money that you can already find people talking about in other threads. Make sense? Hope that helps!!

ps - the only reason I say this is because you say you are trying out things...I wouldn't try out a bunch of stuff. Pick ONE thing you like and do that. Its impossible for a newbie to succeed at doing a whole bunch of different money making processes at the same time. Do one thing, learn it then do the next. Do. There is no try. as they say!

Where do you sell you're PLR articles? Do you have your own site? Also how do you get traffic for PLR articles? That is the problem I'm having.

Great information, I would add what is this particular person's skill set. What value are they bringing to the market place? Instead of focusing on how you can make money, focus on what you have to give that someone would pay for?

    Nobody "makes money".

They create value and get paid for the privilege.

When you focus on the money you never get it. When you focus on the outcome, solutions etc. you always do.

Bingo. You hit the nail on the head with this one.

Focus on the value and the money will take care of itself. Don't step over dollars to make dimes.

Brad, I couldn't have said it better myself.

I only teach my methods to add value to others to build solid relationships.

People buy from people. I try to be real with people and share my experiences good and bad.

I'm a Paid Traffic fanatic because it's the fastest way to get people to an offer.

You just need to study basic marketing principles to understand what is a good offer and what's not.

Spot on, I provide value in the form of expertise and advice. I offer that to others for a nominal fee. In exchange, my advice betters peoples lives far greater than the monetary value I was paid.

To make lots of money, help out a large audience of people greatly, and get paid very little from each person, and you will be rich.

This is a very enlightened post.

When you study all the top money makers in the world you eventually come to the conclusion that most of them never really focus on the money. There's a very good reason for this.

Money is just a byproduct; The system is set up in a way that allows you to recieve money when you provide value of some kind.

Focusing too much on money can lead you down a dark path: You stop doing the things you love and you go after the things that make more money. People do this all the time, but the irony is that a lot of the time you would be making a lot more money by using your true creativity.

You can write your weight loss ebook and it might sell a few copies... but people can tell when a sales letter or an ebook is devoid of true passion, and there are a lot of people out there who do stuff because it will bring them money.

Focusing on providing value is not only smarter, it's healthier. Now, the question is, do you know where you can truly provide value? Something you can give others in the form of an infoproduct is normally a subject you know a lot about.

Focusing on the system; the outcome; what you want to do; doing all this while keeping the money in perspective: That's what will bring success.

And what about al the black hatters.

That's true, but creating value and offering solutions instead of focusing on money is just one half of the equation.

Yes, you should concentrate on creating something of real value
      for the chosen market.

But then you also have to sell it, otherwise you will not make any money.

That's the hardest part and that's where so many people fail.

Very few products sell themselves. You MUST convince people that your
product is 100 times more valuable than it actually is in order to move the
money from their pockets to yours. That's why top copywriters are so
expensive, they can sell #%&!t to anybody, and that's what they do
      every day.

valuable product + effective selling strategies = money

valuable product: 10% of your investment and efforts
selling strategies: 90% of your investment and efforts

I make money by selling physical goods as an affiliate. In April 2010, I made my first website, in May I made my second and in October I made my 3rd. I have made a profit (sometimes small, sometimes large) every month since they've been up.

I spent the 3 years before that writing for the web (at Associated Content, mostly) and building some free pages (like Squidoo, etc.). That made me a bit of money (and continues to make me a bit of money). Nothing anyone could get excited about, but I learned how to do effective keyword research and SEO by doing those things. Without that practice, I doubt I would have built successful webpages from the get-go - and I might have gotten discouraged and quit (if I had the option. Making money online is my only option right now).

I don't think you want to hear this but here it is: making money online is work. Some people might think 'hey, look at syd - she spends 20 minutes writing an article at AC and says she makes $100 per year from it. I don't think she's honest, because I wrote an article at AC and I've made $0.30 in the past 4 months. She must be a scammer. Or she has a secret she's not telling.'

What those people ignore is that I spent 3 years learning how to keyword articles and how to write for the web. It's not that I don't say that - it's that they gloss over it in their minds and only hear '20 minutes work = $100 yearly'. The secret is that I wrote a lot of unsuccessful articles on the way to being able to now write an article in under an hour that I know will be successful. It's the same with affiliate marketing or any other way people make money online.

There is no system that will take the work out of making money online. Even thieves do something for their money. There are ways of reducing the learning curve (buy a training course, for instance) but no more are you going to succeed at that by skipping the parts you don't understand than you'd be successful at baking a cake by sticking a bag full of ingredients in a hot oven for 40 minutes. You have to do it all. Even the parts you don't enjoy. Especially the parts you don't enjoy.

Lastly, I would tell you that I have bought a few WSOs. One at the beginning to get a grasp of how to maximize Squidoo and a few (2 or 3) more because they were offered to finance something I wanted to support. I've read them all, and learned something from each of them - but how I'm making money didn't come from one of them. It came from me considering the options I knew were available, deciding which was most attractive to me, making a plan, and executing the plan. Just like if I needed money in the 'real world' and for whatever reason couldn't get a job.

The truth is most likely that you already know how to make money online. You just wish it were easier.

What Brad is describing is called the "Maketing Concept" and is a core concept of college-level marketing classes.

      marketing concept definition

It basically means that you will make more money by giving your customers what they want than you will by making them take what you are willing to give.

One more thing...I'm reallllly trying not to be rude, but I hope you'll take into consideration that you've started 90 threads in the first 30 days of your time here on Warrior Forum.

I think it would be a GREAT idea for you to do some research and read through older threads on here to learn a whole lot that's already being shared instead of asking the same things again. Not saying you shouldn't ask questions, but just hoping that it might help you out if you take some time to search...plus you'll probably find a whole lot more info than just the few responses a lot of your threads are getting. Hi,

That's a very interesting question and perspective.

What are "These Methods," and how do you know they (the people) haven't made money by their own methods?

If you are trying out "all of these methods" that might be a problem in and of itself. I don't know for sure but it's suspect at least.

Without telling the names of the people and the exact names of the products, what have you tried and found not to work? In other words what have you done.

I earn money by creating products and by selling (a lot less now) offline. What do you do?

I make money in lots of different ways, I write books (physical and digital) so there's always sales of those from my websites, clickbank and amazon, I help offline businesses, I own a software company with a high ticket product, I do affiliate marketing, have some sites focused on Adsense, sell information products in several niches, run a coaching program, give drum lessons, and a few other things - basically I just help people in whatever way I can and see if I can make money while I do it.

There are lots of ways to make money - there is no right or wrong way and most people who say they're struggling and are not successful quite often aren't actually putting the time in that they'd like to think they are.

Most of being successful comes down to developing good habits and working hard on things that help people - the actual methods are less important than the approach and commitment.

Most of your questions can be answered on this forum simply by searching and reading.

I know what you asked......"HOW, exactly are we making money." You see, all IM people tell you the "What," but not the "How."

The "how" is supposedly in the products that are sold by the IM people.

          Hi,

          I beg to differ.

Many Warriors have posted for free exactly how they make money, what and how, some even in this thread, hundreds of others throughout the forum including free WSOs.

Some of us have spilled our guts only to be met with a ton of yea buts and that's too hard or that's not possible.

If nothing else, Allen in the WarRoom tells all. He's posted in there for free things he has made thousands off of. It's all here.

And then as you said, some of us have details and more details in our products that we sell. There is nothing wrong with that either.

But, to say we don't tell how, I can't agree with that.

However a TON of Warriors have given free detailed methods on What to do and how to do it.

I make money by writing articles, ebooks and sales messages. Also sell on ebay and half .com

Also make money from blogging through adsence and my local market from my plumbing blog and helping local business create a presence online.

My best advice is to find a niche and set up a system, then start marketing that system.
    Hope this helps.

P.S. Since you are a war room member, why not go to the war room and get your hands on Allens' ebook "Private posts" it is a fantastic read. If you follow it through then you will understand how to make money online.

At this time Iam writing an ebook on how to make at least 100 online. In the book there are 52 diffrent 100 dollar ways. That is 5,200 worth of idea's. All of them I have tried and 100 dollars is the least amount I have made from them.

It won't be finished until November. If you PM me I will send you the ebook once it is completed.

If you read the comments (and especially the ones that aren't shown due to low ratings), most people would come to the conclusion that the posters have nothing better to do than complain . This is not a blog I would take seriously ... at least for anyone interesting in making money.

Earning money online (and offline) is nothing more than finding a starving crowd, and then providing what they want (compliments of Gary Halbert.)

As far as what I do, I provide items needed in the (pico) niche where I am active.

Hey, that's a very good question. Of course it would take all night probably to describe the entire process. The best way in is to get a mentor, some training and that way you'll start to see how it all works. I've got som efree training on my site if you want to check that out. Quality stuff, no strings, just check it out. Wish I'd had it when I started out. Hope that helps. (see my signature anyone interested)

First and Foremost... MINDSET! Develop yourself before trying to start marketing. I suggest "The Science Of Getting Rich" By Wallace Something...

    Then... ACTION!

So What To Do (What I Do):

    Article Marketing
    Social Network Marketing
    Forum Marketing
    PPC
    Make Videos

    How To Do It:

Article Marketing... i write 2-4 Articles per day.. all articles have about 3% keyword density... Submit Original Articles to Ezinearticles.com ... rewrite each article once and submit to a article distribution service. Once done.. Next action to take...

Social network marketing... add 20 - 30 friends that have interest in my niche.. socialize.. key is to build relationship with them. once I have established trust.. i promote. but only promote SOMETIMES... social marketing is called social marketing because you have to socialize.. not sell! (About an hour a day for this.. two social networks per day) once done... i move on to next action i need to take..

Forum marketing.. Look at all the questions you think you can provide great value to. i answer questions for about an hour. once done... move on to next action..

PPC.. spend another hour writing ads... how to write ads... well, have to be creative with it. What would catch your attention in your niche? create about 10 ads... move on to next action...

Video Marketing... make 1 video per day. I look for an article on my niche.. make a video explaining what I had just learned.. then submit to (here's a secret) TrafficGeyser.

There.. i just showed you how... now go TAKE ACTION and stop complaining about how gurus dont explain exactly how to market on the internet....

"Eagles aim at what they want, dive right into it, and take it. Ducks sit all day and quack quack quack (complain) all day."

@George Wright, I will agree to a certain extent, as I respect your experience here, that some IM'rs in the forum do tell the "how," but not enough to be step by step simple that describes every "foot-step." I refer to most of the newbies frustrations and I can't really blame them.

George, don't get me wrong, I love this place, and I, like you, see the same questions addressed to the first time/newbie/first posters, that it still "overhwhelms" them even if we do state here what we know as the "how" to make money online.

I guess I was just making the point of the difference between the "what" and "how" of marketing in general, especially to someone new to internet marketing.

This morning I gave a one hour seminar on blog marketing and brought up this very topic of "what/how" and it hit a chord with all 100 people I was lecturing to....

          Peace, brother...

    1. Affiliate marketing
I buy PPC traffic (from 2 tier PPCs) and send it to CPA offers in several niches (dating, free offers, games, etc). I work with Azoogle, CJ, Sharea sale and a few others.

    2. Google Asdense
I've built a couple of niche web sites, which I used to promote with the most basic SEO methods: original content, catalogs, social media, forums. Then I placed Google Adsense banners.

    3. SEO, SEM, SMO Consulting
I help people to make their sites better in terms of structure, design, value, style, marketing, monetizing, etc.

I make my own products and sell them by clickbank or pay(dot)com, or ebay,
I also do CPA marketing and own a good sports site/directory which sells facebook multi onlinegaming apps with returning visitors daily who pay a membership or donation charge for services in 3 ways. also have staff now to run my other sites so yes i do make money but the methods i use i never tell anyone because im too scared to get them saturated and then having competition in all my niches.

Unique is the word for today since so many relay on Plr Articles and sending the same stuff people have purchased months before it get really lame with the same make money xxx rubbish that clutters the internet.

To any newbie reading this thinking will i ever make money you have two choices,

You could follow what everyone else is doing but dont copy them see whats making them sucessful the applying them to your routine an treating your business online as a business, Not some make money project because thats how alot fail on this internet marketing, They see some big im guru's video and just buy, buy, buy all the stuff and left with just ideas but no action to try them out!

I went and did the oppisitie in my online business, When i first joined the warrior forum I had left the army on medicial health grounds, and have a offline business with family to fall on. But still stuck with debts and problems at the time in 2007 which also left me worse off. I always wanted to do something online that made extra income so i became a ebay seller at first and had done pretty well,Became a powerseller with partner selling vintage Star wars toy Figures to nike trainers and anything else our suppliers at time could bring to the table,

The fees at the time became too high but my partner carried on alone and made himself a millionare doing so, so i felt like i missed my chance on that one but continued in my online ventures. Now i have 4 busineses including my CPA offline business and other projects im working on and yes i make alot of money online auguest alone this month is the best month because i have to find more outscourcer's for my sports sites due to the new U.k premier leauge started this week, But im sorry if this is a long post but my advice to anyone out there is either find a business that has been established and something you are intrested in weather it is CPa marketing,Seo,Internet marketing, whatever that is and learn, Dont follow the emails as marketers we all send to each other on lists and just pick something and follow it through. If you are intrested in the niche you choose you will find sucess,

Remember Keep it simple and stupid, and intrested in your self in the project you choose, and also to the op Money Offline or online is a End product in any business, Like any JOb offline you have to work at it to get the money.

If you like what you have seen please leave a thanks

People make money all kinds of ways... for instance I have made significant money on ebay... my project did not fail. It was successful, but it got pushed to the side by other things, and ultimately wasnt a business model that inspired me to devote my whole life to it... there's alot of stories like that. Years before the internet I made a little doing the Don Lapre (infomercial star) classified ad stuff...

I could probably write a report that others could benefit from about those experiences, probably wont... but either way, though I could show someone how to repeat those successes, even though they are currently not what I "do"...

Hope this helps... there are a thousand ways to make money online, you will proabaly experience more than a few of them if you walk this road a few years.
So no, people who write books... arent neccessarily doing what they are writing about... they are just sharing experience that can make you successful on that topic... because you are interested in it, and they know the subject matter by experience (hopefully).

Dude, I know just how you feel...

Here's exactly how I've made money online -- yours completely free!

    1) Method known as the "leech method" from Affiliate Project X - pick a high converting Clickbank product that the product name gets at least 30,000 searches per month (yes, there are plenty)

Write a pre-sell page where you start by questioning the product and then warming up to it. End by offering a killer bonus that you've created that helps fill in a gap of the product. You'll need to buy the product or get a review copy to do this well.

Set up a PPC campaign in Google Adwords.

Bid on the product name, product name + review, product name + scam ===>>that's it!!!

Write a negative ad that questions the product's authenticity. Link the ad to your presell page.

I will tell you that this method works extremely well for about 2 months. The last one that I did I was getting a 10% CTR and 8% conversion. After about 2 months with good, solid results Google will send a human to look at your landing page. Your quality score will go from 9 down to 1 over night and you'll have to start all over again.

But doing this has made me as much as $120/day from just one campaign. Soon I'll probably have my Google account terminated because that's how they roll, but this is a surefire way to make money quickly.

    2) Article marketing - this is much slower and painful. Here what I do is write articles (or outsource them) based on long tail keywords in big niches i.e. weight loss.

In the resource box I send people to a squeeze page with a free offer - could be a PLR product I bought in that niche or a video or report I made...after opt in I redirect them to a pre-sell page in the niche following the same format I listed above.

I structure a 1 year auto responder with at least 50 messages in it for each niche. The first 7 messages go out 1 day at a time. I answer any possible objections, remind them of the bonus and include a call to action.

The rest of the emails are a mixture of pure content, CPA offers, and other product offers in the niche and related to the niche.

What I can offer you is this:

Think about the process before you think about the product. If you have a killer process for getting people to an offer and converting them, you can plug in just about any product and make money.

I'm not going to say some vague crap like "you just gotta find what works"...that's speak for "I don't know either man..."

I am constantly testing, tweaking, and trying out systems. If you want to see what I'm doing, head over to my free IM training site:

    Instant Success Training

I just started this as a free resource to help people just like you because I was there just a few months ago...check it out.

find an area you think you are an expert in. then create your site.

write. write and write more articles for that area. those articles should be able to help others.

monetize it by putting in either ppc or affiliate ads (adsense, bidvertiser, adbrite, chitika, infolinks, etc)

drive traffic to your site by article writing, backlinking, etc.

wait for the earnings to come in.

      lather rinse repeat.

that's the most basic i can think of how i am doing it.

each topic above will cover volumes of books by themselves (keywords, ad placements, traffic, etc) so go and read about those topics and decide which one you will use.

i think nothing is really hidden now in wf and on all other forums.

so stop looking for that magic technique.

most people looking for these techniques just want to be spoonfed.

it's all out in the open. the trick is to decide where the gold is in the pile of glitters.

With your question, you are putting the Cart before the horse. Because most people ask that question when they are just starting, that is why 95% of people are failing.

The first step is to understand how the internet works: Create contents that will be pleasing to a target audience and the Search Engines, the content will presold your visitors and they will be ready to accept your recommendation. The Search Engines will keep attracting targeted visitors to your website. After that is when you can ask: "How Do You Guys (Actually) Make Money?"

There are several ways to make money. For example; Google adsense, affiliate programs, e-goods, hard goods, your offline services, referral, your offline store, etc. The most important thing is to introduce the monetization when you have started attracting a minimum of twenty visitors daily.

Then you can gradually add new monetization as the traffic increases. It may be interval of weeks, months.

In conclusion, if you are not getting traffic consistently on your website, forget the question of making money.

I'm totally swearing by article marketing. It gives you free visitors and backlinks for your money site. I make my money online by having passive income channels setup that deliver dividends monthly back to me. It's all perspective I guess. I could tell you it's from having an adsense empire that is oh so nice to have, as well as having a clickbank empire as well where I have a ton of minisites built to fit into a niche and deliver a solution to those looking for a quick and easy answer. And thirdly, I could tell you it's from manipulating users on some of my sites to fill out cpa advertisement offers of which I then get paid handsomely given the amount of traffic some of my sites have. Then i've got clickbank, ebay affiliate income, and my message forum venture which is probably tops in my own involvement versus how much money it makes me month after month versus how much i actually have to "do" in order to run everything.

At the end of the day, how I make money online is picking a system, test and develop it out, and then put your nose to the grindstone and get at it. There really are no easy answers, but if you truly want to make a lot of money, and I'm not talking $1,200 gross income at the end of the month - you need to diversify if you can and are willing.

I have been making a living online for quite a few years and I've tried just about anything - the most success I had with building sites and offering my services to other people and right now I am trying to find the optimal combination of the two. Offering your services will give you stable income, while the sites can give you a decent passive income, but traffic and income from them can fluctuate quite a bit.

This is exactly what I did on one 30 day challenge previously and made a total of $300 in my first month in IM:

    1. I registered with clickbank and picked 3 niches
    2. I did market research on the niches and found ten keywords worth pursuing
    3. Then I went to godaddy and order 3 .info domains and redirected them to my clickbank affiliate link
    4. Then I wrote 12 articles each for the 3 niches
    5. Submitted the first original articles to Ezine articles
    6. When accepted I went on to submit them to these article directories
    i/Articlebase
    ii/Goarticles
    iii/Article dashboard
    iv/Amazines
    v/Searchwarp
    vi/Article city
    vii/Affsphere

Hey that's a great step by step - thanks!

Just wanted to ask, you say that you submit first to ezine then after it's accepted you submit to all the others - are you submitting the exact same article, spinning it, re-writing manually or something else?

      Cheers

I'm not sure what he does with his articles but If I remember correctly, Ezine articles requires that your article not be published on any other article site before theirs. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong!

It's not that they want the article on their site first, they just don't want people trying to submit articles to EZA that may not belong to them.

If you submit your article to a different directory first and then go and submit it to EZA and they find the article already published elsewhere they may wait to verify that you are indeed the author prior to publishing your article which as you can see, slows the approval process.

          Respectfully,
          Tim

I've definitely made the most money from eBay. My favorite way to make money online though, is with Amazon review sites.

I've also made money from Adsense, CB, private affiliate networks, product creation, and by providing link building services to others (<-my least favorite way to make money online, but the 2nd most profitable for me under eBay).

First off, there is no such thing as a "secret method". Anything that is being used to make money online is available somewhere. If you think you have a secret method you are wrong because there are others doing it too.

The key to making money online is taking action with a method that is proven to work.

Personally, I make money with article marketing, writing articles for others, and still a little bit in PPC from a while back. Mainly I make the most of my money through adsense websites, and some with clickbank as well, although that fell off a while ago for me. used to make over 500 dollars a month with clickbank, but now it is less than 100 for some reason. Still make a good amount with adsense though.

You already know what your problem is..you said it in your post

you are wasting time trying out all these methods...

    so STOP!

you know it's your problem yet you continue to do it. Why?

Personally, I make money online selling services (video editing, graphic design, article writing). In about 3 or 4 months I will be making alot of money from my list, 3 or 4 months after that and my list will allow me to launch my blog.

I have quite a few other things that will be launched as well..but only after I have put the required time and focus into each business model.

The way I build my businesses is by allowing them to build off of each other..this means that the work I put into one business will catapult the next business and then the next after that and so on..

you know exactly why you aren't making money online..so as yourself this question. How much longer are you going to do the same thing and expect different results?

    1. Create some quality, unique information on a topic you know about.
    2. Set up that info in an autoresponder.
    3. Buy some clicks from google.
    4. Offer the info to subscribers as an incentive.
    5. Send the info as a series of emails in order to build a relationship.
    6. Sell or suggest other products to the list you built.

There are many other methods....but the above is the only model I've ever used and I've been at it full-time for six years

There are basically 2 steps to making money online.

      1) Traffic: Drive traffic to an offer
      2) Conversion: Convert a perecentage of the traffic into sales

Almost everything you learn about internet marketing is to support these 2 fundamental steps is some shape or form.

(Rant alert... sorry this post got so long. Hopefully someone finds something of value here.)

Originally Posted by GoogleWarrior View Post

    Legitimate traffic generation.

IMO article marketing is mostly for noobs and "social marketing" is just a covert word for spam when defined in the context of most IMer's day-to-day activities (forum marketing, comment marketing, etc.... this is all noobish spam by people desperate for traffic).

Realize that the vast majority of what you read about how to make money online was originally spread out to the noobs by (though not originated by) the so-called gurus. These sellers focus on newbie friendly tasks. They have to. If they didn't, everyone would demand a refund. Eventually these "proven methods" make their way outside of the courses and onto the forums where they become the written in stone laws of how to make money online that nobody dare question (I'm picturing a mass of perpetual newbies at the foot of the mountain and one of them coming down with stone tablets chiseled out by the likes of Frank Kern here - and you must follow them without question) or you risk being flamed or having someone lie about the gazillion dollars they are making off of it and how they work only 1 hour a day. This goes on all day long at this and other forums. It's ridiculous, though entertaining.

And now for a dose of reality...

I create websites that people see value in, and thus return to again and again and also show their friends. I try to be original or at least put a new spin on an old idea. Unfortunately this involves a lot more work than just setting up WordPress and installing some plugins.

The downside is that you will have to learn a lot of stuff and spend a year or two really getting things going. Forget about page generation tools. They are mostly for noobs. You need to know the following:

    HTML
    CSS
    PHP
    MySQL
Javascript (semi-optional... there are tons of free scripts online, but it helps if you have at least a general working knowledge of them).
    XML
    Basic to moderate Photoshop skills
    General writing
    Copywriting
    Sales concepts

Since someone is going to chime in on this... Yes, there are workers in the developing world available to do most of this on the cheap, but don't even get me started on them. There is a reason why they live in homes with bare concrete floors and sites with budgets 10x their quote refuse to hire them.

If the work and time it takes to do this stuff isn't a turnoff, you can end up with not only your own traffic sources, but over time your websites themselves become saleable assets in the range of $1 to $unlimited. Whereas when you are a mere article marketer, there is little to nothing to sell because you are the business.

Buying and selling websites, profit from the flips, reinvest the profit in more sites, let many sit in the auction until they sell for 2x what I paid, only sites that generate revenue, so even if they don't sell they're still making money. All sites zero maintenance. Pretty simple. Profit from flips, profit from sites.

The richest of the rich have huge opt-in lists either created themselves or bought, yes I said bought. Some of the wealthiest marketers bought and even stole their lists. They then JV with each other promoting each other's courses and products. When I say they can hit the send or broadcast button and make thousands a day from an affiliate product without doing a launch I mean they literally do this. It's not a dream.

1-Get your own line of info products going.
2-Get JV partners big and small(when you first start the big guys wont even look at you)
3-Pre-launch every product like it's the biggest product ever to hit the web(the buzz works)
    4-Rinse and repeat

I could go into detail but for time and sanity sake this is it. Feel free to pm me if you want some more advice friend.

You didn't say it, but these methods are deployed by the top level of the Make Money Online industry. Nobody else works in unison online the way they do.

At least one of them partially outlined this method in his course(s).

While very opinionated, this is an interesting read on how they implemented the method beyond what is discussed in the said course and it provides some insight as to why they were so successful....

Well, I've just done a little bit, but here goes. These are the ways I actually made money online.

1: Invented a product for cars and sold it on the internet. (The Hatchback Helper).
2: Sold Affiliate products by making some videos giving the viewer an inside look at the product before they bought.
3: Bought the rights to some High Quality PLRs and sold them.
4: Put together a small little book for Cat Lovers and put it on Amazon.com

Well, I have a few more things in the works like creating my own products and putting those out there too.

Like other have said in the post above. Just look for problems, and try to find and provide real solution for those problems. Give Value and people will know. And they will appreciate the effort by giving you money.

It's really that simple. Hope that helps.

Problem with majority of people who are trying to make money online are having many ideas and then setup a few sites which then stretches them, increasing the work load and stress. Its best to constrict yourself to focus on the one site fully and with one method until you start seeing some light.

Thats whats got me through it all, whereas before I would've had about 5 websites setup and stretching myself around them trying to get them all running at the same time.

I make money writing articles for other people.

I make a tiny bit of money on CPA offers, I just have not put the effort into this area.

But, I think the question you really need to ask yourself is "How do I want to create value and earn money?" What do you enjoy doing? You seem to like making relationships and participating in forums. Which could become a great conduit for you to drive traffic to a website, create a list, and sell products. But only you know what you will do day after day to consistently create value.

Brad Gosse's reply is spot on!! Brilliant answer!

Money doesn't make the world go round - value does, and money is a by product of value.

Find a way to create value.

I do this mainly with :

    SEO services
    Search engine friendly web design
    Various web marketing services
    Affiliate Marketing
    My own eBooks

And when it comes to constultancy services - I find it's far better to market these services offline, and the best form of marketing is word of mouth, by far.

The other thing to say, is that it's profit you want to focus on - don't get too impressed when you hear someone does a 7 figures sales per year - it means nothing when they're making a nett profit of zero or minus! (I'm talking here from experience!)

Some of the "Guru's" out there have built up companies, with staff & overheads, which have to turn over big money just to break even - people look at them in envy thinking wow look at all that money, but there are some who I beleive are making practically nothing or less than nothing, when it comes to the net profit they bank at the end of the month / quarter.

    Cheers

I've built a list over time and I send them free stuff and stuff to buy. When they buy it I make money.

Today I've made over $500 by promoting an affiliate offer.

I also running coaching programs every few months that bring in anywhere from $1,000 - $5,000.

In "idea" land I am working on a system for local businesses that I hope to unveil soon enough with a couple of my friends.

It´s true. It can be very confusing. What works for some people may not work for others.

My first attempt at internet marketing I created an ebook which went on to make well over $10,000

The process was (I was learning at this stage so it was not as precise as this but this is what ultimately ended up working)

    1. Market research (how many searches per month for my niche)
    2. Ebook creation
    3. Sales letter creation
    4. Buy domain (keyword targeted)
    5. Build sites (I built an auto blog and keyword targeted sites)
    6. Build Backlinks
    7. Adwords advertising (did make money but cost so much)
    8. Created Facebook and Twitter account
    9. Set up opt in form

The basic idea is finding a profitable market where people will spend money, finding an entrance point (how you will enter the market), finding the right product/s and then deciding on how to capitalize on it (opt in then email follow ups, direct sales page, product review etc)

    1. Find Market
    2. Set up product sales system
    3. Get traffic

Now there are many ways to go about this and simply could not be explained here.

It also depends on your budget.

If you have any quesitons please feel free to ask

    Good Luck!

Find a method, collect more information, add your creative and action. The important thing is a proper plan and you must follow it day by day. It is not a amateur work. It is a real work and you need finish it before you leave your computer. Do not spend much time to myspace, facebook for chat and post useless think. Keep all of fun stuff for do it on weekend. You may know how to do it, but you need to do it by your investment( time, money, outsourcing). You will make money if you do it.

    Hey,

Recently I have been making money online through affiliate product promotion, pretty much what most people have said before me.

I build a mailing list, and send them, mostly free stuff, with a paid upgrade or follow up product.

I am doing this just now because I don't have any of my own products as yet, but I am working on that, just time consuming that's all.

I will continue to promote other peoples related products until I have my own, then switch to fully concentrating on promoting my own.

When I first started online I had no plan, no sales funnel, nothing really and never made much money at all.

This time round I am seeing much better results, mainly because I am tracking what i do now, rather than just stumbling around in the dark.

Testing and tweaking seems to be working for me, hope that helps.

I focus on less work types of income now. I sell websites, ebay affiliate income, adsense income and get random cash from other affiliate programs.

Sometimes I help people sell stuff and they pay me. Edit ebooks for non English publishers, write reviews on my blogs, create helpful services and much more.

There are so many ways to MMO, if you know how to do something well in IM you can join oDesk or GetAFreelancer to make quick cash to invest in your online promotion or what ever you want.

I personally started making money by writing articles, making my first product and marketing on the Warrior Forum, writing letters, doing graphics and more.

It helped me get the money I needed to start my own website which I will focus on marketing in the next few weeks.

I am trying to make money too online but just trickles in. I have been in business most of my life and I enjoyed what I was doing. Money was the by-product of my enjoyment. I am trying to do that with IM but I find it hard as I am suffering from information overload and going from one direction to another.

So I am gonna stop what I am doing and trying to find my focus and work it that way. I enjoy IM so I am sure the by-product will come eventually. I found that if I concentrate on money it never comes because I am making too many mistakes. If I am doing something as a hobby the money start coming in.

    I think that's the key.

Well truth be told, if I had it to do all over again, I would have focused more energy on building my own products and inhouse lists than selling via the affiliate marketing model...Or to put it differently, I would have built a list first then sold affiliate products + my own....this is pretty much the best of both worlds IMHO

I make money online by writing articles and e-books and by translation from English to French and vice versa. I also make some money from my Facebook Pages.
I think the hardest part when you start internet marketing is to find out what you -can- do. In the beginning, I saw everyone doing SEO and all the money they earned was from this route, however; I have never really seen myself as a SEO girl it was not like me. I tried to find something else that I can do and it was Facebook marketing and it was when I made my first few thousand dollars online, afterwards, I realized that doing Facebook Marketing is no longer guaranteed because of the many changes Facebook make continually to block the road for marketers so I decided to take a new path in my Internet Marketing career and it was writing.. For now, I am comfortable with what I am doing and this is what matters so focus on finding something you -like- and -can- do.

I *Actually* make money writing freelance, through clickbank affiliate links, and adsense.

    My advice:

    - Find something that makes a little bit of money (a few cents or a few dollars.)
    - Do it more.
    - Do it better.

This will require learning all that you can about that "method". We're all still in the process. I don't think any of us should stop learning how to do new things and do them better.

Sometimes simple is best. We try to over think things too much when we should just be taking action.

At the moment I make money from creating websites that are monetized with affiliate marketing, mostly CPA, and Adsense and I focus on getting traffic from SEO and backlinking, cause that's what I'm good at. It's a business model that takes a while to see income, however it's pretty much hands off passive income once you have some good rankings, except for tweaking and testing conversion rates along the way and keeping an eye on the competition.

I'd like to see what I do as building virtual real estate. I build both 'thin' affiliate sites aimed at maximizing conversions as well as foundations sites made to attract links or get tons of content on autopilot.

There's also some snowball effect here as your sites mature and grow, they gain power and you can use that to rank your new sites faster. So I can use the authority from one of my niche sites to boost a related new niche site or a site in a different language.

I've also dabbled in product creation in non-IM niches and learned a lot from that experience. Enough to understand the potential income but also that there was much to learn. It's a great learning experience to write copy that sells for example and it's really a great feeling to have created a unique product that is helpful to other people.

But in order to not spread myself to thin, I have decided to just work on my current affiliate site model for the next 6 months until I reach my target benchmarks. This model works for me, because I know that what I am doing works and the results will be there eventually.

I think most new IM'ers would be best of making a website about a topic they are passionate about and then learning all the different aspects of IM from that site on, like building backlinks, writing good content, capturing leads, trying Adsense and affiliate offers and perhaps eventually launching a product.

I think it is a mistake as a beginner to go with the latest fad in the WSO room, whatever that is, because while you may make money faster, you risk becoming a one trick pony.

No fluff, this is EXACTLY how I make money in order from largest to smallest income source:

    1) Day job: Direct sales for a large communication company (around $80k/year, quiting soon to be a full time internet marketer)

    2) Selling my own products and high commission affiliate products to my mailing lists. (As of right now this is bringing in about $3k/month, once I quit my day job I'm expecting that to at least double from all the extra time I can put into it. I have yet to do a WSO, but I'm working on writing down my entire system of online money making that will most likely turn into my first WSO.)

    3) Producing my own art and selling prints/art books. ($5k/year. I went to a prestigious art school and got a fancy degree. Even though I prefer to make my money other places, I still love art, and it's nice to bring in a little extra cash from my favorite hobby every year. I save whatever I make as an artist and use it to pay for my girlfriend and I to take 2 vacations a year.)

I have found that traffic is only part of the solution. The people arriving need to be serious about buying or they won't click on the ads. Sometimes you may have an authority site that gets linked through a high traffic forum, but if the people coming through that link are only there to read the article all of the additional traffic won't necessarily gain you any revenue.
