First it starts with keyword research. This is done way before the article is created.... you need to find keywords that have a mid-high number of searches and mid-low competition.

From there you need to create an article that gives away enough information but leaves the reader wanting to know more and therefore read your well-crafted bio box that has a persuasive call to action.

Within the article you need to add 5-10 LSI keywords that flow through your article seamlessly, these keywords can be found by typing in the keyword you are ranking for in google and use the wonder wheel.

When creating the bio box you will want to link to your website using the anchor text as the keyword you are trying to rank for.

After you create the article you will need to obviously submit it to your website and article directory/directories.

The last step to is find high PR blogs and websites to either; leave a comment on or create a profile link with. Get enough of these with the proper anchor text attached to it and you will have a great article that can rank quite well in the SERPS.

This is really the basics of creating and getting an article to rank quite well in the SERPS. BUT it all starts with proper keyword research.

Keep pumping out those articles and follow Kenster's "power of numbers" advice, it is pure gold.

    Best of Luck!

Amazing advice!! One additional thing that I do is submit each article to a bunch of social bookmarking sites. I speed up the process by using socialmarker.com. It's totally free, and it lets you select which sites you want to save a bookmark on. You do have to register with each bookmarking site individually before you begin, but once you've registered, socialmarker will really save you some time.

Good luck to the OP! Keep up the hard work, and you will see results. Article marketing may take some time to build up momentum, but it can bring you some great long-term results!

TheAnnoyingOrange's post was spot on. Keyword research and SEO are market your articles in the most effective way, IMO. Personally, I have found that articles that are 100% unique and that have a fresh perspective rank higher with less marketing than any type of spun content ever could.

In terms of distribution, I use SubmitYourArticle and SEO Link Vine. SYM distributes is to the major article directories (this saves a lot of time and hassle) and SEO Link Vine distributes it across quite a large blog network.

Target keywords that, pull good amounts of searches per month and try to keep the competition to a minimum. After doing this write a quality article, that can keep people coming back for more of your articles.

Optimize your article from the title, to the resource box and your traffic should be solid.

Whenever I want to get the most out of an article (fastest results) I pay a submission service to submit it for me. Some will even write an article for you for a little more money. They one I like to use is 4submission[dot]com they submit to over 300 directories for like 6 bux and I think it is 15 if they write it for you. I just try to write it myself or if I'm crunched for time I will take a PLR article and spin it then add to it and shape it to make it my own. This has worked for me. What's really cool is adding a tracking link to your bio box link and you might be surprised at the numbers you actually see in a relatively short time.

How many articles are most of you submitting per month? I write 5 to 10 per month but not very happy with my views and conversions to leads/sales.

I do about 5 a day to be honest. Each article gets around 100 views..the ones that I dont do any seo for. The ones that I do obviously get more. So all in all I get about 600 views a day..which adds up pretty well.

Its all about trial and error I think. Just keep writing articles..dont touch them and see which ones get the most views then write those ones better.

I market through automation and hand submission. I hand submit to 4 directories, and i automate the rest for backlink exposure. I focus each article on 3-4 keywords and drive the message to the customer to click through the resource box. To date it's worked well.

I posted an article some days back saying article submission as a tool for internet marketing success are pretty overrated and i still stand my ground, however i think using article marketing as a tool is better submitting on your blog than using article marketing directories.Search engines tend to give proper rating to sites that are updated regularly

I also stand my ground that you should temper your words, or you should have more than a little bit of experience to speak as if you are an authority on the topic...

The WF is a strange world where a lot of people can come together to share opinions, and people with zero or little experience in a niche can state with absolute certainty that they are right about something, and there is no way really to know who the real experts are...

But this reality is not limited to the WF... The Internet is a place where people with absolutely zero knowledge in a niche can step forward and claim "authority knowledge" in the niche, and no one can validate the experience, let alone the knowledge contained within... Until after purchase... (To be honest, this possibility scares the crap out of me on medical-oriented websites...)

You have only dabbled in article marketing, but no one knows that but you... And inexperienced marketers may read your comments as if you have some God-given insight that the experts do not have...

People with less experience than you will take your "authoritative sounding words" and read into them that they will fail because you have failed with the article marketing... This happens frequently on the WF, on a wide variety of promotion techniques...

If I played your tact on this matter, I could say that PPC is a con and an absolute waste of money for anyone who would ever consider using it...

        But that would be bull****...

The version I feel more comfortable telling is this:

I pissed away money every single time I used PPC... That does not mean that you will, but I certainly did...

I know Google Adwords is not a rip-off for everyone, because I also know people (and I do) who spend better than $50,000 per month on Google Adwords, and we both know that they would not keep putting that kind of money into Google Adwords if they were not making a profit on their investment...

While PPC is not right for my business model, it may be right for your business model, but I do encourage caution, because if you don't know what you are doing, you can get in real deep, real fast....
There is real power in the words that we use, and YOUR words have more power than you believe...

The WF is about helping people...

But, is it more helpful to talk someone out of using a particular method for the promotion of their business, because you dabbled in it and did badly? Or, is it more helpful to put all of your cards on the table and tell people the truth?

I used ten articles to promote my websites... I only released two articles for my current Forex website... And I only put those articles on EzineArticles and no where else...

Now, article marketing did not work out for me... I generated no traffic on my two articles... Therefore, I think article marketing is over-hyped...
        Now that is honest...

People can now draw their own conclusions based on the facts...

Within my own experience, putting articles on your blog makes more sense than using article marketing directories...
That would have been honest too, and that would have gone without comment...

Take for example another of my opinions:

From a distance, I can say with certainty that being married to Hillary Clinton would be a nightmare scenario, where nothing good could ever come from it... But obviously, Bill Clinton sees something in her that I do not, because he has remained married to her for more than 30 years...

Obviously, I have never seen Hillary's soft side, her attractive side, or her best side... I only see what I can see on TV... And from my point of view, she has an ugly personality...

My grandma always told me that every person on the planet has a redeeming value, but Hillary's redeeming value eludes me...

But Bill knows Hillary in a way that I never will, and I like Bill... And I am more than happy to let him keep her if he really wants to keep her.... Although I cannot imagine why he would, but to each his own...

        LOL

You ARE entitled to your opinion, and I am entitled to mine...

If you read my website's copy, I might even agree with you...

In my sales copy, I point out that 90% of people who attempt article marketing will fail... You are simply one of the 90%... There is nothing wrong with that...

Dude, I am not saying this to be an ass, although I am sure it looks like I am...

My point in discussing this is to remind you that your words do have power, and if you are going to make a blanket statement that will scare people away from a technique that many people use successfully, please qualify it with with some facts so that people can make an honest assessment, based on facts, not conjecture...

You might suppose that I have an axe to grind for article marketing, and maybe you would be right... I am biased, yes...

        But consider this...

I have customers who have been with me since 2002, and my service is one of the more expensive article submission services... Such as in my Google Adwords example, would it be safe to assume that my long-term customers are making money from the process? Why else would they keep giving me money every year?

If something does not bring profits back into your business, why would you keep throwing your money down the rabbit hole?

Exactly, and we do understand why you have walked away from article marketing...

Yeah I agree, But like someone previously said..its better to do seo for your own site..which is true. I never really wait for my own content to get indexed thats probably why my blog doesnt get much traffic
