Why Don't My Article Directory Backlinks Show?

Using backlink checking tools I never see the backlinks I create through other article directories to link back to my original ezine article. I'm spending 30 minutes a day creating 10 backlinks to each of my articles by doing the tweaking the original article then resubmitting to these other directories. It's not an issue of building too many links too fast as a lot of these sites take a couple of days to approve them, so they get spread out by way of that.

Why aren't I seeing these links when I check the backlinks for my ezine articles? I feel like it's a waste of time of I'm not getting the links, they're all do-follow, as well.

This came up when I was checking how one of my ezine articles was ranking for a term and saw I was on page 4 whereas another ezine article from someone else for that keyword was on page 2, so I busted out the backlink checker and saw according to it that none of my links from tweaked articles at other directories pointing back to the original ezine article were showing.

Are these other links not even indexed or something would you guess? In which case is it a simple matter of pinging those tweaked articles at the other directories?

Backlink tools don't list all the backlinks that you have to your sites.

I stopped using these tools long time ago

    EDIT:

    Have you tried: http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/

It's the most accurate tool I have found

Thanks for the link, I got the same 13 links as I did with the other tool, though. The fact that I'm cross referencing here and still not seeing the links seems to say that something's up.

I am in the same boat I am awaiting links from articles that I wrote over a month ago.

I would do more than just simply pinging. SERP awareness comes from exposure. Creating backlinks TO those article pages should be part of your strategy..bookmarking, rss submissions and so forth.

Don't be complacement with just pinging your sites.
