Hello all,

My name is Marcelo, and I am just starting to dig into the e-marketing world. I currently work as a software engineer (remotely), and while I enjoy doing what I do, I would rather apply these skills in a more efficient manner (+ finantial return).

It's amazing, however, how it is really a question of breaking paradigms. Product creation has been around for ages, hence the companies and business around us. Selling software and informational products (i.e books) has been around for a long time. Besides, lots of people sell software and books, but not necessarily make a fortune, and I think that's where the e-marketing part is.

The persuation and sales skills + SEO and automation are the key, it's a matter of mindset.

I'm still amazed by the possibilities of it. However, it is also scary, if you take into account the amount of possible SCAMs and not-so-honest offers/products lying around. I wouldn't want to ruin my credibility -- the one I aready got on the internet as a professional web programmer -- by creating products only with the intention of earning money (and I see lots of offers like this around, it's implicitly obvious). If I'm to create a product, it needs to be something that will agrgegate value. I'm not fond of BlueFart techniques either.

In fact, I bought one product already, which I'm not yet sure was a good investment -- Mobile Monopoly. This one seemed to have the contents I need to grasp the fundamens of e-marketing while having a plus with the mobile approach.

From Adam's list, too, I came to know the Assassination, which seems to be a very good package, but way too expensive for me right now, unfortunately (I would be willing to pay in more payments or offer a slightly lower price, but they did not accept).

I'm a programmer, and truly believe in automation. I want to eventually develop a system that will allow me to easily create sale processes or maybe create a framework that could be used with the most common languags (php, ruby/rails, etc).

Anyway, I just thought I'd share my thoughts and introduce myself, hope to have a great time while learning more about e-marketing (and why not building a new internet empire? ) along the way.

Cheers,

Marcelo.

    Hi Marcelo,

    Welcome to the forum.

I myself am involved in software development. (I used to be an accounting systems programmer)

I find that knowledge in developing tools and automation gives people some kind of edge but still it comes down to having the capacity to take massive action that's the key in this thing.

I wish you a pleasant time here

    Best,

    Hi Marcelo,

I'm new to the forum too and just finding my feet. I'm hoping to find an internet genius who can give me some tips on developing my new site.
I'm a TV lifestyle expert here in the UK so web development and design has been a steep learning curve, you only know what you know until you know something different.

Hope you get what you need and ease off the coffee.

    Marcelo,

Welcome to the warrior forum. Glad to have you join us here.

If you take a look around here, what you will find is that most of the warriors here make money by SELLING OTHER PEOPLE'S PRODUCTS also known as affiliate programs.

This is how we all make our money. Some of us have our own products and some of us here promote other people's products for commissions..

Read as many posts here. Educate yourself and take your time.

Thank you all for the warm welcome!

So, I ended up buying the access to the War Room. So far it looks great, eager to dig more into the e-marketing stuff (specially copywritting).

I'm still feeling like in a identity-crysis. In fact, I must confess that I used to have some kind of aversion to internet marketers and to the word marketing in general, probably because I've seen so much crap around the net, that I ended up creating this deep association.

However, in the last few months, I decided I would take a fresh view on the subject. It happens there's the bright / beautiful side too!

For example, I've been working as a developer for quite some time, and lately as a Rails programmer. I love Ruby and Rails, the web platform and the internet in general. The Rails world is very elitits, many Rails programmers struggle / want to become a celebrity just like David Heinemeier Hansson.

What they don't know, is that even DHH uses marketing strategies to promote himself. He might not use the classic letter format I usually see around the e-marketing world, but he has blogs, he published a book with his company, it's all e-marketing, it's using the power of the this new media called internet to reach a niche of people, provide them with something that call their attention and exchange it for money or more publicity.

I do feel, however, that a lot of the "underground" (please, don't take undeground as a pejorative term) e-marketing world has a very amateurish-like quality in what relates to the web as a technical field, and sometimes in general.

So, my approach here will be a bit different. I love what I do, I love the web and I love to develop for it. I like quality. I'm not focusing solely only on money, but I do want to invert the time = money equation (4-hour workweek dream, if you haven't read Tim Ferry's book, you should!). I don't want to keep exchanging money by my time and services, it's just too boring after some time. I think that's my main goal. Money, IMO, should always be a consequence of something deeper.

I'm brazilian, but currently I live in México. I happen to speak Portuguese, English and Spanish, all three fluently. I live a relatively comfortable live right now, but I just have so many things that I would like to do, that if I keep exchanging my services for money, it'll take years before I will be able to make all of these dreams come true. One of the things I'd like to do is to just take a backpack and travel around the world. I just can't do it right now, though

But I won't give up. The WarriorForum seems to be a great opportunity for me to expand my networking of like-minded people. Note: I wouldn't like someone that only wants to dig for $$$, I want to actually learn about e-marketing in all its simplicity and complexity, experiment a bit (affiliate marketing) and then create release something that will aggregate value (I have a few projects on the way, a inner-game ebook, a gtd ebook for geeks and a software to manage my e-marketing stuff) and use the learned e-marketing strategies to sell them.

Right now, I don't have much time, and while I want to start ASAP and eventually "kill" my 9-5 job, I think I also need to take my time. I will be traveling to Santa Monica next week (work stuff) and after that I will start acting on a small plan I have.

      Let's keep in touch !

      Cheers,

EDIT: I'v been browsing around and I must say this forum is a goldpot full of business and paradigm-breaking ideas and opportunities. Assuming most of the people around here are honest and excited about IM, and not just scammers, then the networking potential is, IMHO, the most awesome aspect of it. From what I saw too, the forum itself is a nice platform to start selling own's products (so called WSOs). Great place to be, I think!

      Marcelo.

WowI will be watching your progress with keen interest as you have great inherent skills that will allow you so many opportunities. Your command of those languages alone will allow you to market where many on this forum dare not go, An ever increasing foreign language market will do wonders for you.

Your writing is also very good and your other Ruby and software skills sound awesome when you are a millionaire remember me
