I've been doing my research this time I really want to succed. I am thinking about entering the weight loss niche. I know it is a huge niche with lots of compitition. I am wondering what is the best and easyist way to find good noncompetive keywords in such a big niche?

I know about googles keyword tool but the keywords I keep getting outta it are all still very competive. Any help?

To be honest, your in a niche that has been beat into the ground for the past 100+ years.

If your already saying its "too competitive", maybe you should pick a different niche? I'am not trying to be rude, just honest. Sometimes its better to blaze your own path, then to follow what others have already done. And the weight loss niche has been done over, and over, and over,,,,,,.

You just need to brain storm.
    • Create a list of all of the popular types of diets you already know.
    • Google for more.
    • Go to Google Insights and use seed words like diet and weight loss to find up and coming diets that not everyone (in the internet marketing world) know about yet.
    • Visit forums and weight loss discussion sites and see what the readers are talking about. Look for questions about new diets.
    • Create a list of conditions you can find that would affect a persons ability to lose weight without some care.
    • Create a list of all the demographics that want to lose weight - teens, new mums, over 40s men, different sports people and athletes etc...
    • Check out some trashy magazines and see what they are talking about.
    • Head to Amazon and look at the 100s of weight loss programs there.
    • Look at the books in Amazon and get ideas like the ones above from people who have already written about it.
    • Watch TV and take note of the commericials and trashy TV programs that run the infomercials.
You just need to get creative and find what a normal person would search for...

Once you have a huge list of ideas chuck them into your favourite keyword tool and get even more!

I will just add that the weight loss industry is far from exhausted. It is just a matter of realising that not everyone searches for general phrases. There are a lot of products on the market that get exposure through other (offline) means and the online marketers never know about them. Amazon is usually the one that benefits...*hint* *hint*

If I were you I wouldn't start with weight loss, unless you are thinking long term then I'd say go for it.

To find keywords I use traffic travis and Market Samurai. Traffic travis gives me the keywords and Market Samurai helps me to analyse those keywords. The things I look for are:

Top 10 in SERPS; I check the backlinks, PR and age of the domain. I try to determine how many high PR backlinks they have and what kind of anchor text they are using. If there are sites that have 1,000 BL's to the page but all of them are like PR2 and below with no anchor text except the site URL then I know that I could take over their position with a little bit of proper backlinking.

Market Samurai also shows you if the keyword you are searching for is included in their URL, title, tags and description. It is advised that you include the keyword in all of those areas to get some stronger ranking.

    Hope I helped!
    Best of Luck!
