Best Way to Make Money With Site Titled CaliforniaDUI dot NET

Hello,

For the experienced warriors out there - I am about to own californiadui.net. What would be the best way to make money with this site?

Flip?
Adwords?
Rent?
Other?
Auction?

What would you do with that domain - adwords gives california dui almost 100,000 searches in US a month.

Thank you in advance - I've been offered a trade on the site from the owner (not the person advertised on the site itself - they don't want it).

Take a look for search results to California DUI. Try to get in touch with a single lawyer/firm and rent/sell it to them. Even work out some sort of referral program where you get 5% of legal fees for anyone who is referred via your site.

Considering there are quite a few sites when I google California DUI, you might struggle with that initially. Your first step would be to get ranked 1st in google.

For the time being, throw up adsense ads, as google always seems to pay well for legal keywords.

you've got a gold mine there, think San Francisco.californiadui.net and Sacramento.californiadui.net and...

What do you want for it?

LOL, go to spyfu and look at the top 100 most expensive keywords.

Set up a lead capture site then sell the leads to lawyers at a good $50 to $100 a pop. Check out lead exchanges like leadpile or leadpoint. Or just go to yellow pages and find all the dui lawyers in a particular part of california (or the whole state if you want to get big) then target them. Or set up a pay per call lead site where the lawyers pay you for every call lead you generate....

Yep...just bought the 5k in 5 day wso...the exact method you need to develop that site is in there. go buy that and apply it to this domain...you are golden.

If you have any doubts that you can develop the domain ...I'll take it off you.

      Good luck

I would type in Ca DUI in Google and then make a site that lists all the lawyers that are bidding on that term in Adwords ... all the ads that Google displays. Then I would do some backlinking and promotion ... then I would send out an email to all those lawyers on the list and the highest offer buys the domain.

I would make it a lead capture page... Then I would get it to the top of the google local results in a place like Beverly Hills... I would sell leads to the best DUI attorney(s) in BH for a while and then try to sell the site to the most well healed one for real money.

Thank you all for the great ideas. I'm going to ponder on this for a little while. I don't have a lot of time to spend on this site (I have three other ventures that are currently going great, but taking a lot of start up time).

Should I JV with someone to do the work or just hire out someone to set me up?

I can't take 5%, illegal in California, but I might be able to sell the leads.

Please, any other ideas would be welcome...it's nice to have a brainstorming group.

another idea could be to sell or promote DUI classes/schools or turn the site into an "anti-dui" type site and use adsense for income. But I think the lead idea would be good or you could just charge them to advertise on your site while promoting dui schools/classes or even probably some CB products that deal with DUI's and drinking. Could maybe even get more specific and get subdomains like "teen.californiadui.net" the options are endless.

I hate to disappoint you but it's tough work to compete for these keywords.

I know this because I own about 30 DUI sites and blogs, and am also in the criminal defense niche working with a couple of atty's sites.

Most likely you will not get anywhere close to the first 100 SERPS for this term.

If you do get lucky and Google picks up your site I recommend that you serve AdSense on this site.

There is nothing else more profitable for a non-lawyer than AdSense in this niche.

I certainly would not bother attorneys offering your leads.

They get leads from public records the day of the arrest for free.

    Forget about selling them leads.

      IMPOSSIBLE N'EST PAS FRANCAIS !

Right, this is just the kind of challenge I need ...take a look at http://www.californiadui.com/ this is a the website to emulate (i said emulate , not plagiarize)

Now, TheSHark, I give you 2 weeks to get your butt in gear...I have just bought californiadui.eu .

In two weeks, if I see your site developed as a lead taking site , I will hand over that name to you and help you with backlinks (free of charge).

if nothing has happened to your site in two weeks, I will develop mine and steal your lunch. Talking of sharks , I have just bought Chris Rempel's Mako script...Don't force me to deploy it for that project!

I had a quick look at Market Samurai...there is room to sneek in the top 10 with around 500 backlinks , target 5000 backlinks to start beating up all the incumbents.

      Good luck

        ActiveTrader,

Thanks - I actually run about 30 attorney's sites (mostly DUI and Crim defense) and have them all localized well (most have at least 3 of their sites on page one for their keywords). I find it very easy to deal with localized sites and get paid well for it.

        Legionaire,

Thank you for the challenge, but I'm not going to have time currently to turn it into a lead generation site - I think it's going to need to either be a adsense site or sell it in terms of time/cost benefit.

        Everyone,

It's nice to have this forum to see/read other ideas.

Don't forget that the site you pointed out to as an example lead generating site (the one you are trying to outrank) is owned by a California DUI law firm which collects leads for THEMSELVES.

That's great! once I reach top 10 , they can buy me out and have TWO sites collecting leads for themselves.I mean they've already proven that they like lead generating sites, right?

Or maybe you will buy it from me?

            TPFLegionaire,

What an amusing thread, sort of. You and the OP certainly seem to have
made at least one native restless. Can't help but wonder why...

There is talk like it's impossible to beat the stuffing out of a bunch of DUI
lawyers, and how dare you even to think of entering this market.

In a place that has been the epitome of support for others almost since
the very beginning; offering encouragement to defy all obstacles and reach
the summit... you are being ridiculed for daring to tread on another's territory.

            So, TPFLegionaire...

I say, Vive La France, and beat the absolute hell out of ALL of them. Even
those who gather leads for THEMSELVES.

Once you've achieved your objective, you can do what you want. Also, I
am just SO SURE there is NOT ONE DUI attorney in CA who will want your
            leads. Not one, impossible.

The oracle has spoken and said so.

This is a personal challenge, TPFLegionaire. There are those who foresake
you, laugh at you, and even think you are inept against the most honored
            and respected profession. (COUGH)

This Warrior is behind you 100%.

            Carpe diem, TPFLegionaire.

Not sure if you are refering to me... I have given my opinion on this niche and monetization... don't know why it ruffled your feathers.

The OP will decide what to do with this site... I simply offered monetization opinion from my personal experience citing that it is not worth the effort and the hassle of building a lead collecting site when AdSense in this niche pays so much more.

I'm not involved in this market, so your experience likely trumps my speculation. But, I'd think that prospects actively seeking a DUI attorney (i.e. taking the time to fill out a lead capture form) would be an easier close than making cold calls from public records.

After all, if there law firms who set up these types of lead capture pages for themselves, there must be some merit to the idea. Right?

I would start by writing 5 - 10 400+ word articles to put on the site, I would add adsense ads on the site, and I would try to get the site and the articles ranked for keywords. I would build backlinks to all of the pages of the site with more articles that I have written around more general keywords and feed traffic with them too.

I would also find other domains similar with other state names and create a home site for all of them. This could be a very large adsense network that could make you some pretty good cash.

I am one of the 20 testdrivers for Chris Rempel's MAKO DOMINATOR and I will be your JVPartner. Me and my futureTribe will have your site performing like the ROLLS ROYCE of Real Authority Websites made possible by MAKO. Your direction and supervision is all we need.

MAKO: 1.1 ms Myghty: 4.5 ms
The need for speed...... insanely fast!

MAKO, written in Python is the most simplified and the most powerful templating software on the market which is probably why REDDIT used it as the basis for their new site.

MAKO Dominator Owners and anyone who knows how to behave themselves and do the right thing, even when nobody is looking, is welcome to go back to what the future of the Semantic web was over 10 years ago. Relevant, full of meaningful content that matters - a SMART Web - not a cluttered Web. http://wealthlpp.com/6mako

If this is so great, why aren't the big name GURU's involved? Anyone know? Maybe they don't have anything in common with Timothy Berners-Lee, Kevin Kelly, Seth Godin and the 100 MAKO Dominator owners who can comprehend what they see and ignore what they hear. They walk the walk and not a single one of them hides from anyone either. That alone should make any thinking person wonder.

Newbie or self- appointed GURUs are NOT Movie Stars or Rock Stars who need to hide for safety reasons unless they do... and that could only mean one thing...... Hmm

Disclaimer: This is NOT self-promoting. It is an offer to others who want to use MAKO software to help make the web the way Timothy Berners-Lee intended it to be. Why didn't he get a patent for the WWW? There is no monetary gain hidden anywhere.

Listen folks - at the end of the day it's important to keep BUSINESS FUNDAMENTALS IN MIND. There are only (4) YES, FOUR ways to make money online:
    1) An ecommerce Model
    2) An Advertising Model
    3) An Affiliate Model
    4) A Lead Generation Model

There's no kind of site you can point to that doesn't fit into one of those categories - anyone who may be new to the game needs to write 1)-4) on their heads so they can look at it in the morning (lol)

IMHO, you should pick one of the FOUR models mentioned above based on a) your interests b) your core competencies....

If you want me to say it in good old business school speak, do a SWOT analysis - Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats....

Also I would encourage you to check out my colleague Ed's podcast on domains (OzDomainer.com is the top domaining podcast online next to Moniker's Domain Masters also hosted by a contact of mine Victor Pitts). Listen to Perry Marshall's interview. A good domain IS NOT just about traffic, it's about CONVERSIONS. The right domain can lower your customer acquisition costs and large buyers are waking up to this....

So to sum it up, look at what you are interested in, what you are good at, and pick one of the four business models listed above that marries the two....

Forgive me if I sound a bit supercilious but most of what people know or say online about domains is total garbage.

How do you know you KNOW domains?

When investors with deep pockets REPEATEDLY ask you to buy (in other words, not just a few one hit wonders)....everything else is noise...

    Good Luck...

I think the bidding war for the domain name is the best choice, but you may want to increase the value by making a small added investment first.

The name is not in the top 1000 on Bing, Google, or Yahoo for California DUI. It has almost no backlinks at this point.

If you are willing to spend a few bucks on it buy 50 articles on the largest California municipalities, in two sets of 25. Put 25 on the site, letting them drip on one day at a time, for more content for Google. Get the other 25 posted onto EZA, GoArticles, and Articlesbase to build more backlinks.

Give your writer a list of related phrases from Google's External keyword tool to sprinkle into the articles to increase their quality and potential to be found on Google.

If you have time, or can pay someone just a few dollars have everything social bookmarked.

Let it percolate a couple weeks after all the articles are up. Then do a quick check on your ranking and make your final decision then.

Even if it does not move up high enough to monetize another way, you just increased the value to your potential buyers. Include the articles as part of the package.

    Good morning all.

    Right, californiadui.eu is up

I still need to do the onsite optimisation (will use SEOpressor)
and tweek the copy on the front page to make the call to action clearer.

I have outsourced part of the SEO work to a fellow Warrior but intend to literately throw the SEO kitchen sink at it using all the resources at my disposal

Lastly , I think I have come up with a cunning plan to generate leads even long before the site start ranking.

I will let you know my progresses as soon as I have any worthwhile ones to report.

Feel free to pile in with your thoughts on the site.
