Squeeze Page or Email List firstt?

I'm sure everybody keeps hearing how traffic is the lifeblood of your website. But does having a squeeze page guarantee traffic to your site? Or is it better to build a list first, then the squeeze page? Or vice-versa?

The squeeze page does not guarantee you traffic

You put your opt-in form on the page
in order to get subscribers to your list.

That is the only purpose of a squeeze page.

Exactly what I was going to say.

To add a little more. By building your list your will essentially always have traffice 'on tap' meaning you can send it where you want when you want.

Granted it will take traffice to your squeeze page to build a list and this can be accomplished a few ways. Here are some I use:

      Article Marketing
      Video Marketing
      Giveaways (great for beginners)
Ad swaps (once you get some subscribers)
buying solo ads (kinda like an ad swap, except your paying them for sending your ad instead of sending an ad for them) This is good when you don't have list yet to swap.
Also you can pick up a few from WF and other forums.
      Google Adwords (my least favorite)

This list is only a small list of all the things you can do to get traffic to your squeeze page and build your list. There are several other options. I'm sure others will come in behind me and add more ways.

      Hope this helps.

Everything that they have mentioned are right.. It wouldn't guarantee you traffic. Just want to add to the lists:
Social Bookmarking, Social media, Blog Commenting, Press Releases..

Thanks a million for the list to get traffic. Other than giving away free stuff like an ebook, what is best from the list of recommendations for a newbie like myself who's just starting out in order to get traffic?

This is like the classic chicken or egg question

If you don't have a squeeze page how do you build the list?
And if you don't have the list building background setup, i.e. an autoresponder... why would you have a squeeze page? It would be completely useless.

The "squeeze" refers to the fact that your offer is so enticing that will "squeeze" out the email address from you visitors = to get your offer they need to provide you with an email address.

So, as you put it, your question doesn't make much sense...

      Istvan,

The squeeze page is how you build a list and one of the top internet marketers taught me that if you are not building list, then you are not going anywhere with your marketing online.

Traffic methods (article marketing, PPC, SEO etc) => Squeeze Page => Email List => Sales!

If you want to build a list and a squeeze page, make sure that your email sequence is a least at a 'rough draft' stage before sending traffic. I've made the mistake of going for it and then losing subscribers left right and centre. Good luck!

It's a bit more than what some of these guys are saying. You really need to first define what your goals in marketing are...

Are you an affiliate? Do you own your own product?

Assuming that being a newbie you are an affiliate, you need to first determine what market you are trying to get into. Picking a market is much more important than picking a product.

I would recommend that you pick a big market that already has lots of traffic and buyers in it...then slice up the market into thin segments. For example: Weight loss - you can look at weight loss for single moms, weight loss for computer programmers, etc. etc.

Just make sure that your point of entry into the market has people actively searching for a solution to their problem. This will require research. Which leads into my 2nd point -

Look at what everyone else (especially the successful ones) are doing in that market. Are they even using a squeeze page? You might find that squeeze pages don't work for the market you want to enter. THIS IS WHY YOU DO YOUR HOMEWORK FIRST!

Let's assume that a squeeze page is a viable option for your chosen market. Look at how your competitors have their set up. What power words are they using to attract attention? What offers are they using to get people to opt in on the page? Where do they redirect people after opt in? What are they doing in the email marketing they are sending you?

Use that information to develop your offer next. It should be something highly relevant to the market and completely unique. Don't just throw up some PLR crap and expect to build a list.

Now and only now do you build your squeeze page.

Then you build out your auto responder.

Then you start to send traffic to the site...

    Good luck!

I am starting out as an affiliate. My niche is generally health and wellness, dieting, nutrition, etc. I've subscribed to Clickbank, Commission Junction, Linkshare, Healthconverter affiliates to name a few. So before I even start creating a squeeze page or autoresponder, is it not wise to first send traffic by subscribing to social media/article marketing?
