And the winner is... (was Sponsoring a New War Room Member for my 3,000th Post - Could it be YOU?)

Final Edit: Here's the winner... Link to the announcement post

---

This is my 3000th post, and I think one or two of them might have even been kinda, sorta good.

So, to mark my territory I'm going to act like a dog and pe . . . um, I mean, to mark the occasion I'm going sponsor someone for a War Room membership.

If you'd like to be considered for a free War Room membership, I'm not going to ask you to tell me why you deserve it or want it.

Nope, nothing like that, because I know that can be embarrassing for some people. There are only two, very simple requirements:

Two Rules

1. Post a message in this thread saying you want in. You can say anything else you like, but nothing else is necessary.

2. Do not PM me trying to make a case for yourself. I already have my own criteria for making my selection, which I'll reveal when I announce the winner a few days from now.

Nominations

If you're already a War Room member you may nominate someone else if you like. I'll give them equal consideration. You don't have to say why you think they are deserving, but you can if you want. Just link to their profile page and they'll be considered.

That's it! Who wants in?

    1. Do NOT stay in there too long. Pick something and GET OUT before you explode.

    2. Try NOT to download everything

    3. Use your mind ammo for GOOD only

    4. Be prepared to grab onto something as if a vortex was sucking you into another dimension.

War Roomers feel free to add.

A live broadcast, no, afraid not. I'll announce it here in this thread in a few days. Not everyone comes here every day, so I want to give as many people a chance as I can without waiting around too long.

I don't envy you your job of picking a Warrior, whom you think the War Room Membership will really help. I checked a couple of the folks out through their profiles and the post they have made. And some of these folks or outstanding Warriors and unfortunately some are just takers and not helpers.

Just a little word of advise for those who don't get picked, give as well as receive here on the WF. Which is the true spirit of the Warrior Forum.

Please don't be discouraged from posting in this thread, these are just my opinion on what a good Warrior brings to the table.

Dennis congrats on your 3,000+ post and this generous offer.
I'd like to be considered for this membership. I have thought about joining on several occasions but have not because I get distracted by shiny objects.
At the moment I'm in financial distress and can't afford it.
I have to confess I've been a member here for a while and haven't added much value mainly because I simply haven't taken action yet.
That is mainly because, again being distracted by all the shiny new objects from each marketer whose list I'm on.
Even if I don't buy and mostly I don't I waste time checking out the offer. At the end of the day I'm more confused than ever with nothing accomplished.
Come to think about it I could probably write a course on what not to do.
But if you think that the War Room could help me focus then I'd certainly appreciate it and when I can give back I will then Choose me.
    Thank you

    And the winner is...
    mcmahanusa

It was much harder to choose than I expected. I ended up with 7 very strong candidates and had to get picky to get it down to one.

I know some of you were interested in the selection criteria. Here's the deal on that...

I'm kind of old school. I'm not saying that's how you should be, but it was my $37 so I got to make the rules.

First off, I didn't want to ask people to tell me why they deserved to win for many reasons, but mainly because I wanted to reward someone for their contributions to the forum.

Being old school, things like manners are important to me. Only people that said thank you, or congratulations, or at least clicked the thank you button on my post made it to round two. If your focus was only on yourself and what you could get, sorry, that was your undoing.

Marketing Lesson: In IM (and in life to my way of thinking), success is as much about what you give as it is what you get. Giving goes beyond product value, it also means giving of yourself in my old school world. Giving thanks or a kind word is one way to start building bridges here between yourself and other people.

Next I looked at about 20 random posts from each person that made it past the first round, unless they didn't have that many posts, then I just looked at all of them.

That took all freaking afternoon! I was impressed with how helpful most of the remaining people were. I only eliminated three people on this round. One because they were talking about how much money they were making I decided they could well afford to buy their own War Room pass. Another was eliminated because they were all about getting, and seldom gave. The third was eliminated because some of their posts seemed rather mean spirited to me.

Marketing Lesson: Whether you like it or not, if someone is considering buying your WSO or a product from you, or is considering you for a joint venture, or is in some way considering doing business with you, many will look at your past posts. Anyone can put forth a good image when they think they have something to gain, but posts made in unguarded moments over time are a better indicator of your character. You'd be wise to always be on your best behavior here. It matters to many of us.

After this I was down to my seven top candidates. I would have been happy giving the membership to any of the seven finalists, so here's where I had to get really picky.

I considered things like how many times you've given thanks...with the number weighed against how long you've been a member and how many posts you've made.

Marketing Lesson: Showing a little gratitude is a good indication to me that a person isn't solely focused inwardly, but also focuses on others and knows something as simple as a thanks can be a gift. That's important to a lot of us here, old school or not.

My next criterion was to again look at more posts of the finalists and try to determine if the majority of their posts were intended to be helpful or just "me too" kind of posts. There were a few other things I looked at but those were the main things. I'm not going into them because I've pretty much already spent the whole dang day figuring out who to choose.

    It really was very close.

My thanks go out to everyone who participated in this thread, and especially to those who threw their hat in the ring. Better luck next time!

To mcmahanusa, I've sent a payment for your membership and notified the help desk, it won't be long now.

Thanks again to all, I wish you well!

Congratulations and thanks Dennis. Nice to see some posts that aren't all revolved around marketing, despite that being the forum. Dang there goes the foot again

Liked your criteria, well planned and thought out and gave meaning to it all.

Hope a few people learn a bit from it and come away as better people.

    And the real winner is...

    ...Dennis!

Not only was he generous enough to the one person who won, no he overdelivered, and gave a gift to all of us.

Dennis, those marketing lessons were excellent. They're the kind of thing a lot of people overlook, but are integral to true success. I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for your explanations and adding value to what could have been a simple giveaway. Sometimes the "Thanks" button just isn't enough.

Dennis always exhibits the class we should all aspire to. I saw this quotation by Mark Twain today, and I think it really sums it up:

"Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great."

And that describes Dennis - someone who through his words and actions makes you feel that you, too, can become great.

I have been a Warrior since before 2000. When the War Room started I avoided it because I had learned that I tended to jump from one project to the next. And I just new from the WarRoom preview that I did not need the distraction.

But after the last couple of sponsorships, I thought it time. Plus, I have some questions, idea reviews, that I wanted to get quick answers to.

So, looking forward to hours of reading, oh yeah!

Glad to see you joined, Kelvin. There's a ton of good stuff inside, but I highly recommend going to the "My Ideas, Strategies & Plans " sub-forum and reading "Private Posts Volume I." You are very welcomed El-Chucklebuck. I have a lot of respect and trust in Dennis so this was a no brainer.

As others have said here - do plan on coming up for air every so often. I would also suggest you think about a specific plan of attach - niche marketing etc - and look through the war room for information on that plan. Otherwise you may get distracted off the path- what some here call the jack tackett er I mean shiny object syndrome .

Once in the war room its easy to start filling up the ol' hard drive with lots of great information - just don't get caught up in analysis paralysis.

    Dennis,

You indeed are from the old school and a gentleman to be thanked. The $37.00 war room membership was great, but your marketing lessons are invaluable. Not only do they apply here but should be applied in our daily life. I'm going to quote them again; because I believe they should be read again and again.

Marketing Lesson: In IM (and in life to my way of thinking), success is as much about what you give as it is what you get. Giving goes beyond product value, it also means giving of yourself in my old school world. Giving thanks or a kind word is one way to start building bridges here between yourself and other people.
