Anyone else having problems with Hostgator Reseller and FTPing to their sites today?

I am using SmartFTP and have reseller hosting with hostgator, which I have to say have never had any problems with either of them.

Tried to connect to one of my sites tonight via FTP and got error 58 which suggested checking my firewall settings, I did that, made a change and was able then to connect eventually to that site, as soon as I wanted to move to a file though I eventually got this error message in my ftp:

An established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine.
Probably after around 20 to 30 seconds (approx).

I have tried with a number of my sites now which are all on my reseller account and am getting the same results.

I don't have the free version of SmartFTP by the way.

I then went and tried to get into my WHM, IE could not display that page. Then tried to get into my reseller cpanel, same thing, IE cannot display that page.

So anyone else having these problems now OR had these problems in the past and got any ideas on what to try next?

    No problems here - I have hostgator reseller and did some FTPing earlier today and it was fine. I've never seen that happen before, hopefully somebody will be able to help you out.

    I would suggest submitting a ticket. It is most likely isolated to your web server.

    They have been doing upgrades and I had that problem a few weeks ago. Ten minutes after I submitted the ticket, they resolved the issue.

    Double check that your license has not expired on your ftp software also.
    You may also want to just try another ftp like fireftp included in firefox to see if that works.
    Did some ftping 2 different times today with no problem

      Thanks also Glenn, good point but I did only upgrade the SmartFTP about 4 months ago, so that should be fine, I will check though.

      Have just submitted a ticket to HG so will see what they say..

          I have not had any problems with my hostgator reseller account, but when I do I find the service very good. Try a service ticket or online chat.

            Skip the chat - it's lowest support.

            Send a email or call HG - it might just be a short term problem as mine is working fine tonight.

            They upgraded to php5 a short while back but I think would have noticed before now if that caused any problem for you. I've gotten great support bu email from HG.

          Hi Glenn

          Yes, forgive me I should have updated this thread. Yes HG fixed the problem, whatever it was - it was around 12 hours later that everything was all fine again - unfortunately they didn't say what the problem had been just a message that FTP was ok again now and I should try again and to please report any future problems.

          So I am still very pleased with HG.
