Hey Everyone,

I have recently completed the mobile monopoly course and am marketing on AdMob.com with no success yet. I was wondering if any of you had used mobile marketing to make any money.

I am currently trying to build my email list with it and getting clicks at 1cent. I also have 3 other campaigns running on it including a click to call campaign.

I'd love to hear your opinion,
Fergal

What is the main issue - are they just not opting in or what?

I run my campaign on admob.com to build list and so far got 60+ subscribers to very small niche... I think it's a good way to build a list, you need to create new ads every day and check the stats of old ones... if there is no opt in stop them... I wasted hundreds on ads with a lot of clicks but no opt ins...

I'm going to be diving deep pretty soon but the main issue now is figuring out will those mobile optins CONVERT. If you are going to sell your own products to them or even do affiliate marketing are they going to click through via mobile and buy the product?
        That's the main issue..

Can I ask you if you are using a mobile optimized squeeze page or just a normal one that would fit into your browser?

Thanks to everyone for getting back to me on this. I also question if the owner has made money with mobile marketing as he never shows any screen shots from offermobi.com

  • I think the danger of that particular approach, is that the campaigns and sources that were cheap and profitable are now being swamped with competition (a lot of it, as a result of the mobile course that was mentioned).

In my mind, 10,000 impressions is enough to say that that particular campaign isn't going to work. I'd suggest setting up more campaigns, but running them for 1,000 or 2,000 impressions each - that way, it gives you a basemark and you can focus on the winners.

I think it could be also to do with the way you are formating your ads, in fact there are a few issues involved, what kind of site, video and like I said the crafting of the ad itself and of course the product or service being marketed.

Work on those areas I want to believe it will work, these things take a lot of testing sometimes. I really think mobile advertising is great overall.

It is difficult to completely assess your results, but we focused on remaining consistent in our messaging throughout our funnel and we added the tie.ly twist to increase the potential of converting on the front end.

My sense is mobile marketing will continue to grow.

10,000 impressions with 19 clicks means your ad
needs to be changed. It's not attractive enough
to your users because the CTR is too low.

Plus 19 clicks is WAY to early to even be thinking
about getting conversions or whether the offer is
    good or not.

You need to shoot for a 0.2% or higher CTR and
then drive a minimum of 200 clicks to the offer.

Then you'll have the right CTR to make things work
and enough traffic to know if it's converting well enough.

Also if you are direct linking you are wasting money
because you'll never own any of that traffic. You'll
    always be stuck buying traffic.

Build a list, write a compelling (read not hype sales BS)
and interesting autoresponder series that explains to
the reader why they will like the offer you are recommending.

Then analyze your stats over a 7 day period of sending
them autoresponder messages. You should be able to
calculate a dollar per opt-in value.

Example you got 100 opt-ins and made $55 in commissions
then that means you earned $0.55 per opt-in over that
    7 day series.

Now you calculate how much it cost you per opt-in...

Example you paid $0.01 per click and got 330 clicks. That's
$3.30 which you divide by your 100 opt-ins and they each
    cost you $0.33 on average.

Now you are making $0.55 per opt-in and spending $0.33
to get them which means you are profiting almost $2 for
    every $1 you spend.

It's just a giant math game, there's no magic, there's no
smoke and mirrors. Research the market, offer them something
you know they buy, and then work the numbers till you are
    profiting.

Who care if Adam made money... This marketing tactic has
worked for years it's just a new traffic source.

I feel nows not yet the time that people are comfortable giving away their personal details while using a mobile phone - that comfort level is simply not there. However, i do feel that MOBILE marketing has a good future - but I belive there is another 2-3 years before it really takes off ....

It will be interesting to see if Mobile marketing turns out like facebook, a LOT of Hype and very little REAL results. The only people making money with Facebook are those selling How to Make Money with Facebook products. Everyone thought Facebook was the big elephant for marketers, but so far Facebook users, who are in a Social Mode, are NOT biting.

It is funny you say this... Sorry for going OT....

A fellow I know swears that FB is the future or online marketing and that FB Apps are the driver of that success...

He offered to set up an app for me for free, to showcase his skills...

Once built, I had to ask him where the money was at... I told him it looked like a nice little branding app, but I could not see the money...

He told me sure... That is where the money is... Branding...

        LOL

So FB sux for making money, even with apps...

        But I believe in mobile...

You simply have to present consumers with items that they want to buy on their phones, and that usually means Themes, Ringtones and Games...

As for me, I've bought Adam's Mobile Monopoly and tried it for a week. I've followed his step by step guide to a tee and this was the result.

    6 Impressions 0 clicks

I've run it for about 4 days and it was the famous weight loss campaign. Since I didn't miss a single step, I had to ask for a refund.

If you ever come across this product again, all I can recommend is "RUN!!!!"

6 whole impression and you're ready to quit?

      Wow.

So I guess you learned how to walk in less than 5 attempts?

It still amazes me people say they want something but then stop after the first hiccup.

I send a ton of people to an offer, only a few buy.

      Oh well, their loss.

      I'm not quitting.

I don't think it is fair to judge someones product without knowing the back story.

What do you use Admob for ? Mobile ad network like Admob, MobGold, etc are not for everyone.

maybe you should try to target the audiences of your ads...
ad network like mobgold, admob allows you to target your desired audiences.
meaning, you can select where your ads will be shown... for example, if you want to target a certain countries or maybe a specific type of mobile phones, you can customize all this in order to get the most of your ads...

Mobile marketing can be a good move since more people have their own mobile phones and most of them are those with latest models. Hence, increasing the chances of people seeing your ad. The only problem is even with this rate, there is also a big chance of reading the ad since they can easily take away the phone and totally forgetting the ad they saw, which results to low opt in. I think it may take some time before it can compete with the common marketing means.

agree with this... but mobile ad networks like admob, mojiva, mobgold, allow you to target the audiences of your ad, hence, with a proper targeting, your ads will converts better, one way to achieve effective targeting is through trial and error, you can not get the most accurate targeting in a blink, it's going to need some process, try different campaigns and see the reporting on which produce the highest conversion...

Yes, true maybe this year is not just yet for admob, mobgold, or mojiva to rise. But with the current trend, technologies, internet everywhere, I believe it is soon enough that you'll start seeing ads in your phone.
