May I have your honest opinion?

I'm rather new at this IM game, but I have learned a tremendous amount here on this forum from some of the sharpest online marketers in the business.

I'm asking for your honest, constructive feedback to my most recent attempt at putting a decent-looking and marketable website together. Please visit: Baby Boomers: It's A Generational Thing! and let me know what ya'll think.

Thanks in advance...I appreciate your time.

Bill

I intend to use it to post reviews of products that would appeal to this age group.

Hey wbeil, welcome to the industry! I believe that you've put together a relatively attractive website, but there are a few things I would change around. To start, I would put the larger sponsored ads higher on the right panel. I'd recommend removing the Adsense code and maybe sandwiching the "Recent Posts" and "Categories" with two of those larger Sponsored Ads (without necessarily the mention of the ads being sponsored). You will for sure make more money from affiliate ads then you will with Google ads if you have well targeted programs being advertised. Additionally, I would removed the "recommended" material from the right hand sidebar and possibly make that a tab on the top of the page.

Now, this is simply my opinion of what would make for a better feel, but I'd also love to hear what others think.

    Good luck!

Very good suggestions, thank you!! I really appreciate your in depth analysis. I will certainly give a good amount of thought to all of them. BTW, those are Clickbank ads with my ID auto inserted (much higher return) instead of Adsense.

Yeah the new lookalike adsense clickbank is pretty cool. I hate adsense. they pay pennies.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the baby boomers age group tend to shy away from buying online. So maybe you can feature something that says it's ok and safe. Maybe a logo link to AARP or something familiar to make them feel more comfortable with your site. I would place it above the fold.

Beside that you have a nicely put together blog

Not true. The fact of the matter is it's trendier to market to a youth oriented demographic. As a result, baby boomers simply aren't being targeted as aggressively as the 18-34 or 18-49 demographic.

Marketers are making a huge mistake by ignoring boomers. Believe it or not, this older demographic is responsible for nearly 40% of CPG spending. And just like the famous line in the movie Field of Dreams..."if you build it, he will come!"

If you properly target baby boomers with your advertising, they will buy!

No problem wbeil. Since I do not have 50 posts yet, I can't respond to your PM. But generally speaking, we don't have any offers directly targeted towards "baby boomers". However, I'm sure we can find some offers that would be a good match for your site based on the demographics of your visitors, so as always feel free to apply. You can check our offers at offervault or odigger!

First of all, i can't really see how you could monetize the site. Sure you have got a few ads there, but the site really isn't product oriented.. To put it bluntly I think you would be better of spending your time developing websites focused on making money rather than these kinds of sites where you slap on some ads and hope to make some $$.

NO NO NO! My whole purpose is to monetize the site through reviews of high-priced products that appeal to this generation with lots of money to spend in their retirement years....

From my point of view, the website is properly structured, but the adverts on it are not related to the blog title. It will be lot interesting to have ads relating to the baby boomers. You might consider using a plugin called Amazonpress to feature Amazon baby boomers products. You can also create a simple report relating to this niche to build list.

    Good Luck!

The site looks very good, I especially like the header. You obviously made excellent use Wordpress here.

The google adsense ad looks a bit out of place.

I have removed those ads, thanks for the observation.

Way too many different offers and banner ads in my opinion....I would concentrate on one or maybe two product or adsense.
