  I have been using Dragon NaturallySpeaking for almost 2 years now.
  
  Not only is it a must-have tool for article marketing, but I use it for just about everything. Writing e-mails to customers, blog commenting, and I even use it for many Internet operations.
  
  I just recently upgraded to Dragon NaturallySpeaking premium version 11 and I even purchased the Bluetooth microphone to see if it was worth the extra money.
  
  I normally use a Audio Technica AT2020 usb cardioid condenser microphone that I paid close to $400 for. I didn't purchase this microphone to use with Dragon however, the regular microphone that comes with Dragon version 10 was crappy.
  
  So, I tried using the audio technica microphone and had much better results.
  
  However, this is a desktop microphone on a swivel. So, using it was limited to my desk only. I find that sometimes I like to work on my laptop or just walk around while dictating.
  
  So, here's my take on the new Dragon version 11 and if you're thinking about the Bluetooth microphone here's my comments on that too.
  
  First, Dragon version 11 is incredibly better and faster than the previous models. The accuracy has been improved greatly. Even though Dragon version 10 was excellent, this version is much more accurate right out-of-the-box.
  
  In fact, I am dictating this entire message using Dragon.
  
  Second, the Bluetooth microphone is very accurate and the upgrade cost for it was only $99. In my opinion, well worth the money.
  
  In conclusion, if you are trying to run any kind of Internet business you MUST invest in Dragon NaturallySpeaking. If you can only afford Dragon version 10 then by all means start there. However, if you can purchase Dragon version 11 - believe me it is worth the extra money.
  
  By the way, I am not an affiliate nor am I employed by Nuance the manufacturer of Dragon . I am just so psyched about how quickly and accurately this new version is that I just had to share the love.

DNS 10 addition does a great job for me, it in my opinion It rocks.

You can check their website, but a price for 11 is not available.

My experience is when something works, grab it and hold onto it ... wait until they do two or three upgrades, and then take a another look.

For myself, I still use windows XP ... I have friends in large companies, which purchase computers, remove the operating system and install XP.

It is just faster and much more reliable.

When new things come out generally you have some bugs problems.

With the price of $29.99 for something that works with a couple of bonuses ... I don't think he could get hurt.

There is a training. In the beginning ... you are training DNS to become use to your voice ... just take a few extra minutes and train it a second or third time ... then your accuracy percent becomes very high.

I find that once the training is over ... speak very quickly, and it will work at the highest performance factors.

Does the program accept Asian Accents? I mean usually these speak to test softwares are strictly restricted to native people and non natives find it extremely hard to use them.... Thanks in advance for the reply...

Has anyone been able to download the pdf rebate form? If so please repost it with a url.

On two different computers I get a notice the file is damaged and not downloadable.

Part of the price discount is having to complete a rebate form - a notoriously fraudulent process. Just assume the price is $55, which is still good, with an extra bonus if you can score a rebate.

Aren't the versions of Dragon localized for the regional/ national vocabulary and dialect of English?

That is the US version differs from the UK version from the Australian version (I assume) and from the Singaporean version?

I also assume a strong accent will require more training?
I certainly noticed that if my voice were very rough (after a sleepless night and lots of talking) then the transcription accuracy would drop compared to my normal speaking voice.

Version 10.0 would do that - it's located under a drop-down menu called "sound." Version 10.1 won't. Go figure!

Version 10.0 (and earlier) won't run in 64 bit mode, version 10.1 will.

I wonder which version Tiger is selling.

  i tried this software out when it first came out and it was not very accurate .Maybe my voice just sucks, but I did send 4hrs training it by reading various stories to it. But I know several other guys that use it on a daily basis.

  I tried Dragon a decade or more ago and it was very rough. Not practical. But by version 7 (installed 2003 on a P4 1.4 ghtz system 768 mb ram) I found that it was workable. I did have to pace my speech. And I did need to work around things it failed to recognize the way I wanted (pounds always came out lb not £). Around 2005 I was fighting off RSI and still trying to work 5 - 10 hour sessions at the keyboard (stupid me!). Dragon was very useful in reducing my typing needs whenever I had reports, e,ail, text stuff for clients/colleagues. I did not even try to use it for programming tasks as it seemed unsuited to that. But for writing stuff up as long as I worked within its limitations I got a lot done with it and it saved straining my body.
  
  Have used version 9 a little and it was better out of the box than 7.

1) You can record into a tape recorder, then later play into DNS.
The recording could be formatted into MP3 audio files.

2) You could use the word format ... from using results of DNS to make a video with some low cost additional software.

I'm confused, does it work by uploading the .wav or MP3 file, or are you saying the recorder will need to be mic'd out?

Windows 7 - Speech recognition is free. I know many DNS users will say it is not as good but I think it is. It takes a few days to train it and to train yourself but it is worth it. You have to do the same thing with DNS.

I found Dragon N.S a bit of a pain, I basically had to re-teach it everything and it still tripped up along the way, my speech is very clear and my native is english. A bit let down by the software unfortunately.

I have found that the Windows voice recognition software is not as good as DNS.
Going over things many times with Windows, voice recognition was too slow for me.

One thing that I do recommend ... is to have a decent quality headset to work with any voice recognition system and get decent results.

If you already have one ...great

Personally I use a HP headset that cost $20 on sale.

Thanks Ron - i love the bonuses! Just had dinner a week ago with fellow warrior Brad Gosse and he said he uses Dragon a TON and also that a trick to make it work better for you is to ensure you have a high quality mic.

I think you will find that the process requires not only training your Dragon NaturallySpeaking, but your own vocabulary. It takes a little while to get the hang of pronouncing words clearly enough for Dragon NaturallySpeaking to recognize them. Training your Dragon helps a lot, but you still need to get used to speaking more clearly and carefully then you might have to in a normal conversation.

I suggest that you do the voice training several times to improve your results.

The biggest secret is to use a quality microphone or headset.

The headset that they ship you, is a low-cost one.
That probably will just give you a headache trying to get it to operate at a good efficiency.

Have a little patience … and you will be rewarded with a big time saver added to your toolbox.

I use it daily for e-mails, working on documents, and even posting.

Normally, I speak into Word, but I have had very good success with Open Office … a free open source software.

  I tried it last week but probably because of the mic quality and my Indian accent of English, I got hilarious results. Had I looked a few more minutes into my screen, I would not be making this post now since I would have been literally dead from laughing too hard, right on that day.

I am using Dragon Naturally Speaking 10 to make this post.

To me creating articles is a breeze ... sending e-mails and making posts are easy.

Do your training several times, and have a good microphone = success

You will get decent results ... if you can afford to get the newer addition, fine.

I don't have it ... and I do not plan on purchasing it until edition 12 or 13 comes out.

My philosophy is, if the wheel is not broken ... don't fix it.

All - not to steal any thunder away from this deal, but you should know:

This is version 10, the current version is 11. That said, most of you will enjoy the price break and bonuses greatly!

This doesn't work with some operating systems as Alex Lin pointed out.

I have tried to use Windows software for voice recognition, I spent days trying to get it to operate correctly.

It gave me a headache and many mistakes.

That's when I decided to purchase Dragon Naturally Speaking.

I have been a very happy camper or since then ... using it for creating articles, sending e-mail, and even making posts such as this one.

DNS will work with Windows 7 operating software, as it has been discussed in previous polls. You just need to be sure that you have the 10.1 edition ... this is a free upgrade from the 10.0 edition.

What I was referring to is my experience trying the software for voice recognition. That is supplied by Windows ... in my experience this left an awful lot to be desired.

Personally, I was never able to get the Windows voice recognition software operating correctly. After days of trying, I gave up.

That's when I decided to pay for Dragon Naturally Speaking and I have been quite satisfied with this software is operation.

Just fooling around with it the other night, I finished a 400+ word article in about 10 minutes. Not a great article I admit, but my goal was simply to get something written and edited.

There is a learning curve to giving dictation, and I expect the quality of my output will increase as my Dragon gets trained better. If I understand the process, Dragon adds new files everytime I use it. Which means that it is building a list of the words I commonly use and the way that I pronounce those words, and as that list builds the speech recognition will only get better.

My experience in time, depends on your preparation and knowledge before using DNS.

I have converted PLR into original format, by just having the PLR on the screen and then speaking into DNS, making the necessary adjustments and changes for it to become original.

If you're working on an original article,I suggest that you have some kind of notes, or at least your bullet point subject lines available. Then you may be able to improvise somewhat, while filling in the necessary words.

In my opinion, limiting your articles to 250 words or a few more is the best way to fly.

Just make sure at the end of the article that You are recommending or leading a person to click on your link.

Bottom line ... Most folks can speak two or three times faster than an accomplished typists can type.

So you should always save a lot of time ... and it is so much easier than working with the keyboard all day long.

Not in the case of trained audio typists. I used to use several of them 15 to 20 years ago and they could type as quickly as you could dictate. The typing equipment was less good then too!

Today's problem is to find someone who would qualify work as a trained audio typist … they are hard to find and very expensive, if you do find one.

The average marketer today, is not a great typist.

Speaking 200 words a minute is not hard.

Typing in a high-speed is another completely different situation, most folks cannot normally work at that speed.

This software will work just as fast as you can speak into it, and I have tried to speak so fast that I couldn't even think clearly and it still took everything then I said and printed it.

Most IM folks are looking to do more work, and decrease the cost of operating.

In my opinion, anyone is seriously about Internet marketing should look into Dragon Naturally Speaking is a great asset to their business.

DNS will help them do more work, require less outsourcing and increase the bottom line.

Can you tell me how fast you were able to talk? Based on your experiment..if you talked as fast as you could how fast could you write a 400 word article with it?

i used DNS 9 or 10 years ago and it was sooooo bad. about a year ago installed v. 10 and man talk about night and day. DNS really is great. I have never used the built-in windows speech recognition because I already have DNS.

The only drawback for me is that sometimes I cannot get the creative juices flowing quite as smoothly with DNS. It is similar to some older-school writers who are just more creative when the use pen and paper. Well, I am more creative when typing. I just have trouble going in to "writer mode" when using DNS. That aside, its awesome.

I have 1 BIG tip for you guys who have trouble with errors when dictating. Make sure that when you are training that you use the same voice that you plan to use when dictating. When the training starts, people tend to read the passages on the screen as if they were giving a speech or reading out loud to someone else. Then later when dictating they talk in their natural voice, which is way different. If you plan on dictating in a natural voice then try your best to train in it in a natural voice. If you find your self dictating as if you were giving a speech to someone, then train it that way.

Anyway, I hope that makes since. I have seen a handful of people make this mistake, as well as being guilty my self. Of course the other tips above are good as well, this is just one more big one that i didn't see mentioned.

sorry but the answer is not that straight forward. a lot depends on how quickly you can gather your thoughts and form the words. if you can speak nonstop your articles will come out quicker. you can speak pretty fast and it will still be able to understand you as long as you speak clearly and your mic is good enough.

put it like this, an average talking speed for reading out loud is about 150-160 wpm (like an audio book). natural speaking speed for faster-talking people will probably be closer to the 200 wpm area.

so that should give you some idea. if you already knew exactly what you were going to say and did not have to stop to think about it and could speak it nonstop you could probably dictate a 400 word article in 2 minutes give or take a little.

i have never pushed the software to see how fast it can go. i dont speak that fast when using it because i commonly have to pause and regroup my thoughts.

if you want a more accurate idea, why don't you try reading an article (or doing one off the top of your head) in to a recorder and see how long the recording is. this would be much more accurate than anything i could tell you.

There have been several folks that own DNS that have posted to this thread in a positive manner.

I am one of them, and as a famous credit card commercials said … don't leave home without it.

The easy way which I can complete an article, make a blog post, send an e-mail or just work on my documents ... in a stress-free manner … is priceless.

One thing that is brought up is quite true, is that the training DNS correctly, use your normal voice.

All of the posts that I have made … were by using Dragon Naturally Speaking.

Spending a little time to do the training and having a decent microphone to work with are the two things that are key for creating ease of operation.

The learning curve is not that long, and you'll be rewarded at with a true asset to your Internet marketing business.

Thanks for posting this. I did manage to grab a copy of DNS before the sale deadline! And luckily I had a Tiger Direct gift card that covered half the cost!

If you missed this you might want to check out Office Depot - they have DNS 10 on sale right now for $29 after $70 worth of rebates (so the "out of the door" price is $99) which is almost the same deal as Tiger Direct except you don't get any additional (PDF & anti-virus) software.
