What Membership Software Is Best for this Kind of Site?

Hi Gang...

I have a site that already processes PayPal payments. My designer built a very basic membership admin panel for me that really doesn't do much except show me the member's name, email address, and allows me to delete the member from the system. Obviously I need more.

But I'm not sure what software I could add to my current site (which already processes PayPal payments flawlessly), but would simply give me all the useful functions of good member software, like the ability to email all my members... shows when they joined, canceled, download all email addresses... suspend memberships... cancel them... etc etc.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Note that my site doesn't offer anything to download like many do. It's a service site. It's set up very similar (function-wise) to a site like Drop Send.com. So I don't need software that simply blocks access to one protected folder.

My concern with many of the member software out there is that they seem to be for people who don't already a site that is already set up to take PayPal payments, etc, but for those just building their sites. (I may be wrong here, so if I am, please say so!)

My site allows 3 membership terms (all the same services, just longer terms for a discount.) All of these are set up with PayPal using subscriptions. It all works well. When someone joins, their name and email address gets added to my admin panel (which also acts as a CMS for text changes to some of the pages).

What's the best way to beef up my membership admin page?

Thank you to all who answer!

    Hi Drew,

Since you already have your payment system and customer management system up and running, and you're happy with your exsiting system, to be honest you're probably best simply hiring a developer to extend your current script's functionality.

Meshing two scripts together is usually quite messy, and so the extra's you're after are probably best done as a custom scripting job for you.

    cheers

The approach I've taken to this in the past is to install the new membership system, import the former members giving them a lifetime access, then manually remove them when they cancel or payment expires.

Not an automated solution but gets the job done.

I'm going to agree with Sam here.

As developers we both understand how difficult it can be to get two seperate pieces of software to play nice with each other. The option with the least amount of headaches will be to find a decent programmer and have more functions added to the script you already have up and running.
