Branding a website with a bad domain name?

Hello everyone.

I am looking for some advice on how to brand a website with a bad domain name. Basically I am looking to build a brand with a website I have had a established for a while now. The domain name isn't bad it's just basically unbrandable.

How would you go about branding a website if you couldn't use the domain name as a feature?

Thanks everyone.

Personally, I wouldn't want to brand it with an unbrandable domain name. I would purchase a brandable domain name, move the site to the new domain and put a 301 redirect on the old domain so I wouldn't lose ranking.

I mean, it really depends on the domain and what exactly your company/site is.

I do hope that when you say your domain is unbrandable, it's not something like xzyslaeir.com .

Do you mind giving some more details?

Change the domain name. Honestly. If you are really serious about branding.. Don't go out on a limb and start spending $$ on marketing when you know you chose a terrible brand name in step 1.
