Why Is It Difficult To Make Money Online?

Hello Warriors,

The question above crossed my mind "Why Is It Difficult To Make Money Online?". I was so concerned because they are lots of free stuff online today one can download without any investment that teach how to make money online. Even, people in forum like Warrior Forum for example share valuable and great information about how to start making making money online, newsletters and reports from top Guru sometimes also reveal secrets of their success. Some even say, "In the next 48 hours, you can start generating income with this system I am going to reveal to you"!

Still, it seems not to work that way, people still struggle to make living online while majority can't even boost of penny after years of effort to make it happen. Can someone please explain what people are doing wrong or what might be responsible for not achieving what proven to be certain?

Please, share your opinion!

Warm regards,
Aabayommy

I don't think it is hard to make money online. Online money making is easy but requires hard work. Make sure everything is scalable and work your butt off and continue working hard. Many people don't understand that making money online is so simple a 15 year old can o it, but it still requires a lot of hard work.

Also I'd recommend NOT being a jack of all trades in IM, just getting real good at one thing, repeating it and scaling it indefinitely.

I will not want to believe making money online is as easy as described. To be honest here, I took me over 2 years to make money online even with direct mentor. There are lots of things to do and consider.

You had a crappy mentor if it took you two years.

There are lots of things to do and consider.
You spent way to much time considering and not enough time taking action.

I fell into that trap at first also, but as someone else mentioned I decided to stop following and take it upon myself to make it happen, I took action and had some epic failure and some great success along the way.

This kinda reminds me of my days in sales when everyone was having a slump and some new kid comes in and kills it, the experienced guys would say "How is this new kid killing it when the leads are so terrible?". The thing is nobody told the new kid the leads were bad so in his mind every lead is a sale.

I'm sorry but why did it take you two years to make money.

Only one question.... Did you build a list of subscribers that know
you, like you and trust you.....

I built a small list and within a month made my first sales.

I wouldn't have been able to stay online for two years
        without making money.

Not everyone will be privilege to hit the nail with the hammer at a go. I think it was due to distraction of excess information and Inability to focus on a particular online business model. To be honest, not everyone will get it right at first chance.

Well, then it seems that either your mentor was not guiding you very well, or you weren't following his instructions closely enough.

Your statement above is telling, and it definitely appears like you experienced information overload, at least initially (this is nothing to be ashamed of, we've all gone through this phase). You see, the key to effective internet marketing is simplicity - do not confuse simplicity with ease though.

Especially when you're first starting out, the work can be tedious, mind numbing and hard (in terms of effort and time needed). The real issue is that many newbies want this initial IM success quickly and easily, and this leads them to try out "shortcuts" and "loopholes" so as to make things easier, instead of just focusing on one simple (but not necessarily easy) method at a time that will bring them success, if implemented consistently and conscientiously.

This is a really great question you have asked.

        Now, let me ask you...

Why was it difficult for you?
Why did it take over 2 years for you to make money online?

The question I really want to ask is were you actually working during this 2+ year time frame? I mean were you doing things to build an online income?

Hopefully, the answer to the last question is yes. Because then maybe we can actually get someplace in the discussion.

You see... I honestly do not believe it always a case of people not trying, not doing. I think that is just a very easy thing for people to say... you have to take action! But it is really providing no value to say that in my opinion. Take action on what? Spending months researching keywords? Doing Bum Marketing writing articles & submitting them to article directories? Building link wheels for SEO?

Anyway, I am looking forward to your answers to the questions above.

        Thanks!

Because so many are people are doing it, and KNOW what they are doing, while there are so many MORE people trying to do it whom don't have a clue. MMO is quite possible but only after you have a solid idea as to what you're doing.

It takes a lot of time. The only piece of advice I can give you is to go out there and simply TRY A METHOD. Find a method that works, and then scale it up. What people do wrong is they either give up to easily, or they simply never scale a perfectly valid idea to a good level. It all comes with experience, really.

It's not hard to make money. The reason most people struggle is that they have no idea what they're doing - they want someone else to tell them everything and so they do little bits and pieces of different things and never create anything significant that they could realistically expect to make good money with.

      Amen to that Andy...

A lot of people don't want to think for themselves but rather have someone tell them, "click here", "now click this", "oh and if this happens click on this". That's probably a good reason why those stupid push button products sell like gangbusters.

Truth is, people would be further ahead if they actually put some thought into what they want to share with the world and then build a blog to share their experience, insights, failures, triumphs. Even push back against the grain a little and expressed themselves while providing VALUE to others.

If they just stopped thinking about "how to make money quickly" and started thinking about "How can I improve someones life?", "How can I share what others want to know about?", "How can I give value to others?"

Today, not many people give a dam about helping others if they don't get paid. They think adding value is nothing more than "gaming" the system to get a little more traffic.

Making money is NOT difficult... And if you think it is then you need to change your mindset, start thinking for yourself and most importantly start doing something in a methodical, major and consistent way.

If you're new, start a blog about your passion, write about it, create videos about it, show your true passion and you will learn all about marketing in the process through simply doing it.

You can read books all day long but they won't do you an ounce of good if you never use that information to move yourself forward. You don't have to use everything you read about... maybe you get a new idea and put a twist on it... maybe the things you read about inspire you to move in a different direction...

Who knows? But the important thing is you're moving forward instead of bitching about how hard it is to make money.

When people ask me that question [the question the OP has posed] I like to respond by asking them "What have you done to help others?"

Some will say that getting started is so expensive. What? You can't be serious! One domain name at Name Cheap is less than $10 and a years worth of hosting at Host Gator is so cheap it's almost free.

If you don't have $100 bucks to start something then go get it, walk to work for a week, quit smoking for a week, quit eating chips and drinking pop for a month. Whatever it is you cut back on doesn't really matter.

The point is Are YOU willing to give up some luxuries for a while to improve your situation?

      Peace!

That's right. It's so easy to make a start on one project & then move on to another without working through to completion ... (Speaking from experience)

It gets down to Focus, Consistency & your Mindset.

      From there ... Take Action!

    It's a process.

You brainstorm for ideas, once you decide on what idea you would like to try, you formulate an extensive and realistic plan, then you TAKE ACTION and follow through on implementing your plan. If your great idea fails, you just repeat the process until you find one that works.

The interesting thing is, with each failure, you gain more and more knowledge. Chances are good that, when you first try making money online, you are going to suffer some EPIC fails. As long as you apply you knowledge the next time around, you will eventually begin making money.

The reason people fail at IM is the fact that they don't take action/do not stick at a method for long enough. Simple as. Take Action at a method that works.

I like the simple fact outlined in the post. That's make lots of sense. But you can't blame most people for that. Hundreds of products are released everyday which promise fortune in the next 48 - 72 hours of purchasing the product. I think, everybody want something fast.

That definitely makes sense, take action and stick to it. But I agree totally with you that it's hard to focus a lot of the time because we allow ourselves to be distracted by the many, many shiny new objects that are put in front of us. Good luck with your endeavours.

I think the main problem stems from that fact that many people don't put in the necessary work it takes to succeed. They have this idea that making money on the internet is quick and easy. They think they can download an ebook, read a few forum posts, pop up a wordpress blog, and wait for the cash to pour in. When they don't see fast results, they get bored and/or discouraged, and move on to the next "secret to success". Unfortunately it doesn't work like that. Just like any other business, it takes time, effort, and hard work to make it happen.

For instance, is the term "Download For Free Here" a keyword phrase that you are trying to rank for? If it is, you're doing a great job, if it's not you may want to change your 2nd sig link to describe in two or three words (if possible) what that product is or does.

It's little things like this, with each failure and knowledge gained, that you will begin to notice immediately.

You will fail. You will struggle. But keep at it and LEARN! You will begin to make money... GOOD money... before you know it.

Thinking that making money online is difficult is actually what makes it difficult.

When you feel that something is difficult, you often push yourself and do things the hard way, and this is why you often ignore the very obvious and blatant opportunities in front of you.

I invite you to start believing something different: Making Money Online is Easy

Just wake up one day and believe that, then go work on the computer. You'll notice how you act in a completely different way. Suddenly, you see opportunities everywhere and making money becomes a game that just keeps getting better and better.

One last thing: A lot of people who believe that it's hard to make money online are the same people who believe life is inherently a struggle; a challenge; constant stress and worry.

Making money on the Internet can be a great mirror for our hidden fears and limiting beliefs, and also a great chance to conquer them.

Even my lists are getting so unresponsive. I'm only get 10-15% open rates now and even less on the click rates.

I have started selling master resell rights products and done ok with that, but even that will only last so long because the product will get saturated on the internet.

That's funny. I set up my clickbank account in 2008. I didn't do much of anything with clickbank until a few months ago. At the time I was looking to diversify my online income. Anyways I did the time and set up my campaigns, and forgot about it. I did something wrong when I set up my account, and so I never received a check from them, and had no idea that I had any sales.

A few weeks ago I logged in to my clickbank account and noticed that I had several sales. I ramped up my adwords account for the keywords that are finding buyers, and then I left it alone again. For the last three, (two week) pay periods I have made a couple of hundred dollars each pay period.

This is what I want to point out. In the last month I have done no work whatsoever to earn that money. However, when I set up the campaigns I did a ton of research and real work. But I would not attribute the bulk of my sales to that either. I would attribute it to 2 years of IM because that is where I learned to market IM.

Before I did IM I was in numerous different fields where I held sales positions for over a decade. I am good at sales and I believe that it is because I can visualize myself in the buyers seat. Everything that I do online, I first visualize the buyers experience from their perspective, and then create that experience for them. I could not do this as well as I do without my real life work experience.

It doesn't really matter what you do in IM. Just take the time to do it well. You will learn more by doing this than reading any $25 ebook. Then each subsequent project that you do online will be better and better. With enough hard work anyone can make a living online.

You have an opportunity here to get a valuable text anchor link. This will help you in the search engines. Yet your text anchor is saying "Download For Free Here" (how many people search that and how many download sites would you be going up against to rank for that term? The first text link you have is good. It's brandable. However, the second one should be something along the lines of Click to get your *Worpdress Settings And Configuration Plugin*. The area in between the ** is what should be your text link.

I think that all these factors -- focus, taking consistent action, hard work are extremely valid, and they are often mentioned in this type of thread.

But these are necessary regardless of whether the money-making effort is online or offline. The reason it's so HARD to maintain those qualities ONLINE comes down to one word - DISTRACTION.

This may be oversimplification, but just compare:

The difficulties in making money OFFLINE come in part from the fact that opportunities are FAR fewer, and require larger investment, hence they carry a high level of risk.

Online opportunities are infinitely more numerous, and infinitely cheaper to get involved in. But that comes at a big price = an overwhelming assault on your attention!!

If you decided to open a shoe store, let's say, you'd have to fork out for the premises, or for buying the business, and you'd be in there, physically involved in paperwork, inventory, hiring employees, etc. etc. You would NOT be getting fifty letters through your mail slot numerous times every single day saying "Don't bother with that store, come and do this instead" and even if you did, you probably wouldn't pay much attention to them, on account of already having so much money, time and physical effort tied up in your shoe store.

Compare that with the online world with hourly offers of push-button income dangled before you while you are trying to get through reading your $27 ebook, where you can't quite grasp what the guy's saying on page 13, and it becomes easier to understand why the lure of online gold can be so very very deceptive. There is just nothing to anchor you.

It ALL has to come from within - a gritty, solid determination to wear the blinkers stubbornly and don't even think about swerving your attention until you have taken what you've started to the implementation stage and given it every possible chance to WORK. That is a skill unto itself. It's called self-discipline, and it doesn't come easy to a gimme gimme generation.

But one thing that will help - and I'm sorry to say this in front of all the listbuilders out there, but it's a damn good idea, once you have started on something, to enact a RUTHLESS PURGE and unsubscribe to 95% of the lists you are on. Just take all that stuff out of your sight. THat has helped me on several occasions. It's a huge release - & it's actually fun!

Unsubscribe from all those opt - ins. If you unclutter your life you will unclutter your mind. Find One Good Mentor and stick with them and then become good at one thing first.

This will put you back in control and hopefully on the right path to making some money.

There are some lists you subscribe to which are inevitable to one's online success, I don't want to mention names. I always appreciate the information I receive from some lists I subscribed to. They are amazing.

Not everybody send crap information to their subscribers and subsribing to a list should not be a determinant of one's online success as long as one is able to focus on a particular online business model

Making money is not hard. The problem is this. If you ask every expert about making money all of them will talk about it differently. Here is a simple blueprint. All marketers know that you have to drive traffic to a squeeze page.

All Marketers know they have to have an auto responder. All marketers know that have to sell using email marketing. All of them also know they have to have some special deals in their Marketing.

All of this has to be set up properly. Each step in the process requires “Copywriting” but when you mention that to most marketers it scares them to death. And they run and hide.

          Example:
Let’s say you have a squeeze page and a visitor opt-in because you are talking about apples. And as soon as he or she receives the first email from you the marketer is trying to sell them something instead of educating them about the different kind of apples. The first email should be talking about the different kinds of apples. (Macintosh, granny smith, honey crisp, jazz, etc)

The mistakes I see marketers make all the time is to assume that when a visitors opt-in to their squeeze page the visitor likes all kinds of fruit. So, they try to sell oranges, grapes and every other kind of fruit that is on the market. You have to be specific with potential prospects because in the buying process they are confused. They are not sure they are doing the right thing.

          So, don’t confused more.

          Example 2:
If a guy just broke up with his girl friend and he lands on a squeeze page that says “having relationship problems” So, he opt-in thinking maybe this is the solution to his problem. He confirms the subscription and the first email is about how to date. What to say on the first date etc. But in reality he is looking for a way to get his “X” girl friend back.

It’s the little things that you do at each step that will help you get more subscribers and make money. If you don’t have a responsive list then you are making an immature mistake.

No problem. As long as you're willing to learn and implement what you learn, you will make money. As I said, it's a process. Sometimes it's a really long and grueling process but, if you stick with it, it will be extremely rewarding.

Yes, I have began following the Challenge as well. I've also purchased two other programs: 4 day money making blue print and Potpiegirl's one week marketing. I was also a member of WA for a month.

While all of these items provided a wealth of information, I still felt myself feeling confused. I'd read about what methods I should be doing first, then the next program would recommend starting my projects differently.

I guess, what I should have done was to just stick with one method, learn it thoroughly, implement it, and then if it did not work, try the next method.

I tell ya, it is real easy to get caught up in buying each and every guru's program who claim that they have all the answers you are looking for.

That being said, I did learn a lot from each program, but what I am trying to do now is follow one method and work it (the Challenge) , and if that does not work, try the next method.

Because we set our expectations too high. We expect everything to to be working optimally at all times, and that is the way we project. Thats not the way it works though. Things work in cycles, so that sometimes they arent going so good.

The answer is to have multiple things going, so that as one thing is going down, two more things are going up...

Algorithms. The tides advance the tides recede-Expect failure, see it coming, and have enough things going to keep it at a steady minimum, and deal with algorithms through working the numbers. When your lowest dips are still a comfortable income, then the rest is just gravy.

IM is difficult because most people never wake up from their dreams of making millions over night.

Human nature says to look for the easiest way to accomplish something. This is why hyped up crap (excuse my language) sells so well..because they are selling to every single human being in the worlds dreams and hopes (well except those who genuinely don't care about money)

The reason IM is so difficult is because since people are trained to find the easiest path they naturally lack the focus it requires to be successful in IM. The really difficult part of IM is the focus and determination it takes. You can learn all the knowledge you need, you can learn all the methods you need..but only once you wake up from your dreams will you be able to gain the focus that it takes..that can't be taught to you no matter how much people say it..you just have to get a wake up call one day.

The biggest reason it is so hard for many people is they try to paint by numbers.

I could tell you to open Google's External Keyword tool, find phrases which match this criteria, create articles based on those phrases, get a domain name, setup up a blog, etc....

But, if you do not learn along the way to be yourself, create value, and become involved in your niche you come across as a spammer, faker, marketer, not as someone to trust and buy from. All of your efforts become tainted by your underlying thoughts.

You can still get some results with massive efforts, but someone with the right mindset will have made great results because their message connected with their readers and buyers. You display passion, interest, and create curiosity in your readers.

Are you chasing numbers and processes, or connecting with PEOPLE?

Another Warrior recommended reading The JackRabbit Factor recently in a Mind Warriors thread. It is a great read to help get your thinking about your business on the proper terms, not just following a paint by numbers approach to failure.

I think one big reason is that most people don't have a plan ... and even when they do they do not stick to it.

It seems most want to see results instantly and when that doesn't happen, they drop what they are doing and move to something else. They never stick with something long enough for it to bear fruit.

I'm such a person, or recently was. I jumped on every new thing that I could find. But from every new thing I've learned something, and now the puzzle seems to come together for me. Now I've got a plan to stick with. I have enough knowledge (at least I think I have) to do something that may get results.

I think the reason it looks hard is that there is serious competition on what works to make money online. You find that with whatever you are selling or promoting, others are doing it as well. So that is why it requires that one should work very hard in order to be successful. Doing many things at the same time also affects the results that one gets from online business.

Figure out , on your own, without necessarily alot of hand holding something that just makes "horse sense", and do it, and get some of those streams flowing all around... to flow toward YOU!

There's no doubt that money flows all around us, but
I don't agree that it's all "horse sense".

        It's not.

If you never took the time to learn how to ride a bike
as a child, to someone who has -- it's common sense
because now they don't think nothing about it when
        jumping on one.

Also, figuring stuff out on your own can eventually
lead to success, but it can be a long dreary road
when you can spend far less time finding someone
who will show you the path they took.

Not holding any hands, but guiding them on the steps
        to take.

        Like a good tour guide.

Would YOU trust yourself to "find your way" up to the
top of Mt.Everest? Hell No. You would go out of your
way to find a guide to help you get there quicker w/o
killing yourself, or in the case of business -- burning
        yourself out or losing hope.

I learned that lesson the hard way, and the moment
I gave up the idea of "carving my own path to success",
the floodgates of wealth opened before me.

I think the biggest enemy of making it online is losing focus and chasing after (and unfortunately often buying) every new course, software or whatever that hits the market.

    Just makes your head spinning.
The best way is stick to a few ground rules and just keep doing what we already know.

Put out your daily articles, videos etc.

    Good content is still king.
Unfogging my head from all this new strategies and bestest of the best new IM programs did the trick for me. Since I shifted my focus from chasing after products to creating and selling products I started to make money.

Making money online is just as easy, if not easier than going out and trying to start my own offline business. Maybe it is my mindset, but I know once you've figured out a good scalable business plan with the right demographics it gets easier. When you set up advertising its all about conversions. I love how if I choose my ads properly or my organic rankings properly I can guarantee myself X amount of extra income because I know how these keywords perform.

  • I think the main problem we face when we decide to "look into" setting up an online business is knowing where to start ( and knowing who to believe )

I have just googled the search term " setting up an internet business " and it returned me 173,000,000 results! And there lays the main problem. Which one of these 173,000,00 'Gurus' is really going to show you how to do it ?

In truth, making money online is not easy but IT IS do-able. Unfortunately we get knocked down so many times by people out there who claim to have the answers, take our money, and not to mention our time and then let us down. Of course they are going to try and convince us that their system works because they want us to buy their product. But not only do these people take our money they also take away our enthusiasm, motivation and ultimately our dreams.

My advise to you would be this.
[LIST][*]Believe that you can do it and you will. But instead of looking for a 'quick fix' look to setting up a long term profitable business.

[*]Be willing to invest some time into this. Don't expect to be making money in the next few weeks. This is where alot of people fall down and give up. You will get there but as with most new things that we try, we need to learn new skills and invest some time and hardwork to see results.

[*]If you have opted in to numerous lists to receive advise and information then OPT OUT of all of them except maybe a few that you feel really are giving you quality advise/resources. There's nothing more distracting than an 'In Box' full of promises that won't work - You know the ones I mean - "You have a cheque waiting for you" or " Please check this product out now" or " Make $1000 while you sleep".

[*]Most of these will come from googlemail, yahoo or hotmail addresses. Ask yourself this. Does a successful Internet Marketer who has all the answers use 'yahoo' to send out his emails? If you signed up to Toyota because you were interested in buying a new car, would their emails come from hotmail?

[*]And lets be realistic, If we could make $1000 while we sleep then we would all be millionaires!

[*]Choose one method of marketing online and become really good at it, whether its article marketing, blogging, etc etc, don't be a " Jack of All Trades and a Master of None". Research the various marketing methods and use one that suits you and your current capabilities and time you have available. When you start seeing results from this, then maybe try another method.

[*]Lastly, and this is where all of the above will fall into place, FIND ONE GOOD, GENUINE MENTOR who will take you by the hand and show you how it is done. Find a membership site that has lots of free resources for you to try BEFORE you part with any money.

Good Luck & don't give up on the dream !

Making money online is not difficult. What IS difficult for many people is...

1, Having the discipline to do what's needed day in and day out.
      2. Getting the proper education in order to succeed.
      3. Developing the proper skills in order to succeed.
      4. Treating this like a job and not a hobby.
      5. Finding ONE path and taking it without wandering all over the place.

And the failure to do all these things, and more, is what makes it difficult.

But making money in itself is not difficult.

Having said that, some people are simply not cut out for running their own
business and have no business doing it.

That last statement is simply my opinion and one many disagree with.

Its not that hard, just go to the areas where you're good at. Try to update and upgrade yourself, from time to time, technology changes and you must cope up with that changes. Also, it really paid off if you excert more attention to it.

I think perseverance is one of the key points to making your online business a success. I think many people heard about how easily someone can make blah blah amount of money and think that it's really easy for them as well, but they didn't know the pain of going through setting up their "online presence" long enough to get through the first dollar.

      My 2 cents worth

I understand how you feel. Even still, I believe making money online is not inherently hard. The ease by which you can do it depends largely on your personal resources, education and experience. Probably my best advice would be to just stay organized as much as you can.

Making money online is hard for the same reasons that owning your own business and being profitable is hard. 90%+ of people need to rely on an employer to tell them what to do, run this report, do this, do that. In IM or running your own business in general, you are your own boss, and people tend to rationalize things way to easily with themselves.. (Ahh.. this doesn't work or This is a waste of time) when in reality it was just a matter of waiting out the method or technique that they were implementing.

    Not Setting Goals

Anyone can "choose a path" and even stay on it.

But, unless they have an idea of how far they will be traveling, their journey just becomes a endless smudge of impressions that saps energy, breeds doubt and makes most people restless, all of which is counter-productive.

The trick to traveling is to do it in stages. The rest-stops provide quieter moments for reflection, evaluation, a sense of completion and accomplishment.. even if it all wasn't superbly great.

Not setting goals that can be reached within reasonable time means never getting the confidence boost of crossing the finishing line... That confidence and satisfaction is what provides the power for the journey towards the next goal.

Same as life in general.. one step at a time.

  • To Have a Successful Business online you need a good business and mentor to teach you how it is done. Alot of businesses sound great and you go and try to make money but the money always goes to them and not to you. You have to learn step by step how to start a Business and make it work.
I have tried many businesses and have put more money out than I recieved. I finally got to know a person from Facebook and finally I am on the right track. I would love to talk to you more. Let me know what I can do to help you.

I'm gonna have to disagree with the majority of the posters here - Making money online IS hard. Like, borderline impossible. It's just way too much contradiction to it all, confusing newbies and irritating the struggling ones.

While I have made money online, I've had to go through too much BS and drop thousands of dollars simply because I did something wrong that other people have left out.

I know many of you experts don't want to admit it, but NONE OF YOU genuinely want to help the newbies and the struggling ones unless there is some sort of monetary investment involved. I do know that no one is perfect, and nothing in life is guaranteed. However, you feed the newbies and the struggling ones a bunch of BS so that they won't become your competition.

Yes, making money online is next to impossible. I have yet to crack the code, but I am getting close. It's a cutthroat game to play, but if it is what it takes to never have a boss again, I'll be happy to play and win.

I don't think its hard to make money online. I think the reason why so many people never make a dime is because they keeping looking for that one system that will make them a ton of money without doing any work. So instead of actually doing some work, they just jump from program to program. Every time they do, they start the process all over.

It takes work to make money online. And sadly most people don't want to do any work. They just want to reap all the benefits. If people would just take the time to actually implement what they have learned, they would start to see some success.

I don't believe there is one sole reason why many people fail online.

It varies depending on the person. For some it is just lack of consistency and persistance. Some find it hard to motivate themselves (especially for long term goals), others are really motivated but are working either inefficiently or in the wrong direction.

Making money online is not hard. It's a mental game of how hard you are willing to work, i found after my making my first $1 online, there was no stopping me making $10,000... if i can make 1 i can make 10, if i can make 10, i can make a 100 etc...

find something that works and scale it up.

The problem with ppl they want more money rather than learning the process "How the money being generated?". You must understand the process first before start doing your thingy. For me do the simplest form first and confirm that it can work! Understand the process and the "value" of doing it. Check the best programs that are suitable for you. You must be focus and do it passionately. Without passion I can guarantee your failure..

Because they have to first learn that making money online isn't some form of "push button magic". It's learning how to discover, then implement a specific marketing strategy that's been proven to work.

Learning how to pick a good niche with a product that can sell.

Learning that people are mainly looking for quality information online to help them make a decision on something.

Learning how to create content that appeals to real people and not just search engines.

Learning how to focus and stick with one system until you master that, and you're making money with it. Then rinse and repeat or scale it up.

Learning how to ignore all those dangling carrots in front of your face that offer another way to make great money.

Looking at your internet marketing efforts as something serious, and not just playing around.

    and finally . . .

Understanding that it will take many hours of tedious research and work to make the dollars come rolling in.

The bottom line and simple answer of WHY people DON'T make money online or anywhere else for that matter.

    They DON'T TAKE ACTION.

If you are a member here on the WF, then you have access to some of the most successful marketers out there. They give blueprints, game plans, practically hand deliver a lot of great information.

So why don't people follow it?

I guess if everyone followed it and took action, there would be no one to sell the NEXT BEST THING to.

You ultimately control your future with your MINDSET and with your ACTIONS.

Take MASSIVE action and you see MASSIVE results.

Guess what is also true, take NO action receive NO results.

Sorry to say it goes both ways.

Which category will you fall into?

As per me, I choose MASSIVE ACTION and because of that, I have seen MASSIVE RESULTS.

One WSO, One Product, One Five Figure Business in 30 days.

It really can be that simple.

If you're going for IM, part time would really take a lot of time and sometimes it's better to work hands on than just hiring people to do the job for you.I guess it's different when you know what and how to do it than have someone else work on your success.

I think the reason many people find making money online to be difficult is because they are looking for a "magic bullet." They want to get the results immediately, if not sooner, and they don't want to accept the fact that work is required in any business.

The old adage that "the only place success comes before work" is in a dictionary is very true yet sadly overlooked by many wannabe Imers.

Nigel, I couldn't agree more. Newbies tend to get seduced by all the latest "pushbutton money overnight" strategies, and start thinking (mistakenly) that they can make large amounts of money easily and quickly, as portrayed in these admittedly slick and convincing sales pages. This tends to initiate a vicious cycle where they continually search for this "holy grail" in IM, get disappointed, and then resume their search again.

There is no "magic bullet" in IM, and the sooner you get rid of that notion, the faster you'll build your online business. Work and consistency are prerequisites to success in IM, and it's really not all that hard or elusive if you just focus on implementing one method a few hours a day consistently.

There are some technical glitches to money making as well. By working full time many marketers are not given credit cards and in turn it's hard to buy or even use services online. Paypal's recent move in india made life more difficult. Now those who used virtual credit card to verify are going to miss storing money in account for purchase. Now they need to find other virtual card services to use for online purchase. Such technical and governmental glitches are not in hands of marketers. Of course you need to find the solution to such problems but still there are some such issues.

I am just beginning to look into this field and I really don't have any experience yet but what I am finding is it is very difficult to know who to trust and what to try. I don't want to waste money and buy $1000's of dollars worth of products that will not lead anywhere. Not to mention I don't have a lot of money to waste. Free ebooks are usually evasive. They tell you general info but nothing that you can build off of. I was going to try and buy a program from a blogger but a lot of people who had bought the product said it wasn't worth the money so, I continue to read and search.

I think also there is a problem with information overload. There are so many people going in so many directions it is hard to decide what to do.

I think it has already been elaborated on in this thread. Newbies want to start making money instantly with very little effort, and many have been fooled by all the slick sales copy into thinking that this can occur quickly and easily.

It is simple to make money online, but not easy. When you're beginning with barely any money, you're going to have to be prepared to work at it, and then typically reinvest in IM resources, outsourcing and paid advertising in order to scale up your income and operation.

There is no "magic bullet" that is going to make all this occur literally overnight, and the sooner you stop chasing such far-fetched fantasies, the faster you'll start building a real online business that generates money consistently.

In the beginning, the hard part seems to be for people to learn the actual basics of marketing. Things like, buyer psychology, and what motivates us.

When I first started, it meant that I had to reverse-engineer why we as a human race do the the things that we do. I never gave it any thought before, but then I realized that even though I am a consumer, I had no idea what made me tick until I started marketing.

That can take a while to learn, and then you think -- Oh, now this is easy!

But then the real problem is the medium I think - the internet. You have to have a plan, be tough as nails and be prepared to deal with online specific setbacks.

Testing different offers until a few click, then doing the necessary work to get those select few offers in front of the right people. This part usually means dealing with how search engines operate, ad campaigns operate, not stepping on article marketing directory toes, etc.

I think that's a big problem right there. For instance, good example...

Say you are getting great rankings and are relying on search traffic. You get lots of visitors but aren't making any sales. So you tweak some things on your site. Now the sales are rolling in, but because you made too many drastic changes you might lose your rankings, and therefor your traffic/leads.

Really sucks, but internet marketing is often times a catch-22, where you just have to be tougher than the machines AND the people.

So in the long run it always goes back to that answer that you've heard SO many times before

persistence, perseverance, stick-to-itive-ness, total madness, competitiveness, growing a tough skin, "I'll be damned if....", etc

In conclusion, you've got to be Scottish, haha - no just kidding.
    That energy is in everybody!

Where there's trust there's money. Build trust and over the long term you'll make money.

Focus, hard work and such is a fail if there's no trust. You build trust by giving your best stuff away in exchange for that email address. Then you give more stuff away and one day you offer those who trust you something they want, something they can't refuse.

It's the best of the best.

You make the sale. You make money. You earn your way. Your successful.

Need proof. Check out any business person online or offline. The reason they're successful is people trust them. Just don't be like Bernie and get everyone to trust you then screw them.

In my opinion, Internet Marketing is not that difficult. It just takes time to learn, if you went to a 4 year college, you might get out and earn $50K+ a year or more, working for someone else.
With Internet Marketing, you can spend 1 or 2 years, really digging in and learning and make much more than $50K a year and work for yourself. You will have to invest money in training and marketing to be successful though.

You will not make any money if you have the wrong mindset. It takes hardwork, dedication, focus, and patience :-)

There are 101 methods of making money online, but you need to stick to one project at a time. The worse enemy of most newbie is information overload. They sock up loads of info without taking any single action.

Choose a program, stick to it. Create a to-do list, work it every day for 6 months, and you will see result. That's it.

Don't let anyone fool you, there is no automatic money, if there was no one will sell it. Action action action.

In my past financial planning practice, with 99% of my clients who said they had no money, we were able to find them extra money. Most people have horrible spending, budgeting, and investing habits. I counseled thousands of people with financial and credit problems over the years and this has been my experience as well as the experiences of my peers.

Whether its spending money on expensive coffee, cable, satellite TV, expensive smart / cell phones, vices, toys they don't need, etc. many people spend money on things they want versus things they really need. We've almost always managed to find them extra money by controlling their spending and having them form a pragmatic budget.

I had a friend of mine complain to me the other day that he did not have enough money for his bills, yet 2 months ago he pulled out 30,000 out of his 401k (against my advice) to buy a used RV because he wanted to take the family out for a camping trip.

If you truly have nothing to start with you can always budget, watch your spending, get another job (full time or part time), and save up enough to start your business. There's almost always a way.

I don't agree with the premise that it's "difficult" to make money online. It's not "difficult" to make money online. It's actually quite simple. Not easy, but simple. There are way too many people having success. And these successful people leave a TON of clues on how they got there. Sheesh, some of them even tell you how they did it period-point-blank, yet those threads rarely get the attention they deserve.

In all my years of coaching people, I've learned that it's getting people to actually understand that they have to step outside of themselves and realize that it's not a money making system or lack thereof that is making it "difficult" for them. Nor is it the bad "guru" who is making it difficult for them.

It's mostly about mindset. Until they "fix" their mindset it's always going to seem difficult. Whether it's jumping from one program to the next, buying the next, new shiny thing, not doing the proper research before hiring a coach, or blaming everyone and everything for their failures....it's always going to seem difficult.

Until someone cultivates a positive mental attitude, focus, self-discipline, and stops looking for every single short cut in the book, they're always going to find making money "difficult".

I have an ex-client of mine who has been at her list building business for 7 years. She contacted me on Skype a few weeks ago totally frustrated that she wasn't making that much money. She began whining and complaining to me. I simply asked her, "have you implemented the check list that I gave you 7 years ago?". Of course, she had not. She was too busy trying the newest, lastest thing.

Your brain, more specifically, your reticular activating system is VERY powerful. People use it to scare away people or use it to attract the mate of their dreams. People use it to ignore sound advice or use it to listen to sound, practical advice. People use it to self-sabotage their business or to make it stronger.

How difficult this is, is really entirely and whole-heartedly, up to you.

Actually the whole concept is new compare to other offline money making opportunities.

There are so many sites ready to rob you, if you are very new in this field. And that is the reason so many people believe that it is not possible.

Making money online is a target.
Many people forget that it isn't a solar power generator.

You need to invest something to get something in return.
Time is of course an essential resource that many forget that they need to pay.

Would you rather pay 3 months of your life focusing on hard marketing efforts, or 9 months of your life reading repetitive and outdated information on the net?

Guess it boils down to the mindset.

I have read many comments that speak to getting focused on one method at a time. It is true, most don't make money online because they fail to focus on one thing that works. They are distracted by every new "toy" that comes out, and they never get to applying what they have already learned.

I don't think it is that difficult, but people tend to associate online income with "get rich quick" schemes. They don't expect to have to work for their cash online, so get bored and give up pretty quickly.

When you first start out I found it hard work to know where to get started and suffered from information overload and jumping from one offer to another. If you take action and focus on one marketing strategy at time I found it is much easier than trying to everything at one.

Just take it one at a time, since we can't really try to cater to all those information about how to make money online in 10 - 15 hours or probably in a single day. As what fellow warriors have said, making money through online takes time and hard work. It is not instant money, since one has to undergo the process on what and how to do. In short, we need to study and learn how it is done so we could operate our online business in a smooth way.
It's like looking and wanting to work in a company as a computer technician or an engineer, you are not assigned to work in a complex task but rather you will be trained first in the task tat you are about to be working. Same as here in the IM world, we need to be learn and willing to be trained and mentored if we want to succeed. I will not say that it is a requirement to have a mentor, but it is easier for us if we have this someone who will teach us the basics on what and how to do it.
it is not that difficult to make money online, just be patient and do not be discourage right away. Never give up if at first you will fall short to your expectations. Just continue on what you have been doing and don't hesitate to ask for some advise from fellow warriors here.

I've talked to super affiliates. What they always say to me is that: try and find your own way. There are millions of coach materials out there, and there are people who didn't succeed themselves as an affiliate but sell millions of books coaching how to be a successful affiliate.
Too many people might just spend too much time reading all the tips instead of actually get their hands dirty and do it. So I think it's wiser to just read a book or two, get a general understanding of this industry and the tools, then get on your feet and start working your ass off!

The problem really is, they are just too many people all trying the same thing and hoping to make a profit like the guide says, when in actual fact, the person who wrote the guide is making their money from people buying the guide and not from implementing the "get rich quick scheme" guide, which the writer of the guide knows has already been saturated

I think making money online is HARD if you don't put anything to action, don't implement nothing that you've learn in a specific course, ebook,or learn too much.

Many people who want nowadays to make money online suffer from information overload. They learn today about offline cpa marketing, the next day about facebook fanpages, than about flipping domains and they do this until they give up without even trying to implement something and see if it works.

So,it is easy to make money online if you implement a method that has potential and don't give up on that method until you make some serious autopilot cash daily and you can begin implementing another method. So go take action!

I for one think it's mainly because people don't realize that getting taught on how to IM from different products is only the beginning. Even if you quote and quote "take action" on whatever someone tells you, that generally will not be enough for you to succeed in the way that you want to succeed. In order to succeed, you need to "take action" but also eventually find out what works and what doesn't down to the specific details from your own experience. This obviously isn't going to be specifically taught by people who sell products since as in any other marketing business, that would just be plain stupid.

In short, IM takes time like any other work out there to make it successful. You don't see people succeed because most of the time people are trying IM while captivated by it's supposedly instant money making potential.
